-Vol 4: To The North Pole!-
-Killing someone using others!-
Ade’el’s offer sound very attractive to the gathered hunters. All they have to do was to get past him and destroy that place which was the centre of the summoning, it's as simple as that! Not a single person gathering here was weak, and they all were the owner of various miraculous skills. For them to get past a single man easy, so what if he was stronger than them?
a smile blossomed on everyone’s face as a look of determination flashed on their eyes. They can do it was what they thought. But some of the intelligent individuals who was able to think clearly at this situation thought otherwise. How could someone who had gone through great length to hatch this kind of grand plan willing to tell them how to stop his plans? This is a reality, not some children’s anime where the villain will explain everything. There must be something wrong with this situation.
Either this man was extremely confident in keeping them all here, or there was something else in work here, some kind of the trap. But looking at the situation at hand, they had no other choice but just jump into that trap. All the gathered hunters powered up their respective skills and charged towards Ade’el like a pack of raging bulls.
The first one to reach him was a middle-aged man whose leg was enveloped in a kind of yellow glow, it looked like a skill that based on one’s legs. This person was wearing a changshan, the same was the one Ade’el defeated with just a single move.
“This is for hurting our brother!” the man screamed at the top of his lungs and aimed his left leg towards Ade’el’s head. Leaning to his back, Ade’el easily avoided it, but the man rotated like a top and sent another kick towards Ade’el’s chest. This time he couldn’t just sidestep it. So he raised his right hand and blocked it.
Boom!
With a booming noise, the shockwave generated from the impact of their respective body parts blew away the snow in the vicinity of 2 meters around them. Even the ground gave in a little. But this shockwave did nothing to halt the other approaching hunters. One of them threw a punch that was blazing with fire toward’s Ade’el’s face. While another wrapped his sword in red energy and thrust it toward’s his heart. Some of the hunters who were proficient in magic stayed back and charged their magic to support.
Seeing so many attacks aiming at him, Ade’el smiled. Puckering his lips and blew a sharp whistle. A wave of ripple formed in space surrounding him as the overlapping soundwaves became visible. Then in the next second, he vanished from his original place and appeared a few meters behind where he stood before. The sound wave was very sharp as such all the hunters who were standing near him felt like a someone just slammed a hammer on their heads. The control over their respective skills wavered, and they were unable to notice that their target had vanished from his place.
Tragically, after he vanished, the Chinese man who had kicked him earlier became the target of all the combined attacks.
This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.
“Wait…!!” but how could they, who were affected by that soundwave attack hear him? And all the attacks landed on him one after him. First, his cheeks shattered from the charged punch, then he felt a sword piercing through his heart, then he felt a surge of electricity flying through his body that burned most of his internal injuries.
He died even before the last of the attacks landed on him.
When the people came to their senses, their eyes widened in horror after seeing the mutilated and charred body of one of theirs. Although the man had long since died, his blaming eyes could be seen glaring at everyone standing there.
“Hue!! You guys are so cruel!! You even killed one of your own?” even before anyone could understand what happened, Ade’el’s mocking voice was heard from the background. Looking towards his direction, they found him standing with a nonchalant expression. There was not a single scratch on his body, he was perfectly fine.
“How…?” someone from the gathered hunters muttered as his hands trembled. One of their own died with their own attack while the one they were aiming for stood without a scratch, how can this be? They were not rookies, there was no way their aim could miss, that too at such a close distance, can it?
“Did we hallucinate?” the one who was holding a sword spoke as his eyes were widened to their maximum. It was a possibility, the enemy was powerful with unknown skillsets. It was possible that he made them miscalculate the distance and at the same time used their comrade as a decoy.
A chill went down on everyone’s spine when they thought about this possibility. To use an illusion technique that could handle so many people at once, one can only imagine how skilled and powerful this person was.
“He teleported.” Just as they were on the verge of collapsing, the voice of the old man who had seen the destruction of the world rang out. They all whipped their heads towards him with questioning looks. There was also a mix of hope within their looks.
“What do you mean old man!?” the same sword-wielding man asked.
“That man, he used that sound waves to teleport out of there and by doing so, the Chinese man lost his footing and came directly in your way of attack.” The old man explained everything. In any case, he had the ‘True Vision’ skill, so things like this couldn’t be hidden from his eyes.
Hearing the words of the old man, the morale of the bunch was restored. The fact that they were not affected by some mass illusion relived them of a huge psychological burden. With their strength, they can block anything physical but not a mental attack. Blocking a spiritual attack needs one to have a higher WIL than the one who cast it.
“So that’s how it is! We must be careful of his sound attacks then.” Now that they know the reason behind the cause, getting cautious to the attack won't take long for them, after all, they were all pros.
“Everyone, listen to me!” as they were about to start attacking Ade’el, the old man shouted again, gaining everyone’s attention.
“I am named Leon Grail, from Gilgamesh Guild. Although I shouldn’t say this, I have a certain skill that can see through many things precisely. This allowed me to see through his attack. Now why I am saying this? that was because, I think we need a plan here. as you can see, that man is very powerful. Even when you attacked him combined, he was able to easily avoid it and even used you guys to kill one of our own.” The old man named Leon Grail spoke, his long square face was stone cold as he looked at everyone.
In any case, he had already seen the destruction of the world by the hands of the very thing hovering above their head. So the power fo this youngster didn’t frighten him. As such he was the calmest of them all. It even allowed him to see through his moves quite often. From the beginning when this young man attacked that Chinese man to now when he escaped from the joint attack of so many hunters, he had clearly seen his moves and actions. As such he felt that with his ability and judgement, they can somehow stop that tragedy from happening.
The old man was determined.
