42. Roxe, The rogue Dungeon core

-The Dungeon Break(4.1)-

-Roxe, the rogue dungeon core-

Kenshin, after clearing the first floor again; went inside the hidden floor. Unlike last time, there were no guardians to stop him. Walking through the dark corridors, he began thinking about all the possibilities. As of now, he was no longer conflicted about accepting Core’s proposal. What he was concerned about was how much this approaching tragedy would affect Mito. Core did tell him that he was only capable of suppressing the weak hoards inside. That left all the strong ones to roam outside.

They should only concern with all the strong ones managed to slip past the dungeon.

Thinking of this, he hastened his pace, wanting to complete the contract as soon as possible. After reaching the open space, Kenshin felt like there was something off. It was like he was going to meet a very potent danger very soon. His body felt like it was laying on a bed of pins. It was very uncomfortable.

Unsure of the cause, he hastened his pace towards the cave.

The feeling kept persisting and even increased by a factor. Suddenly his senses tingled like crazy. It was as if someone pointing a weapon at him with the intention to kill. Every part of his body screamed for him to jump back. As someone who had trusted his own instincts, he jumped back hastily.

Not a milliseconds later, a purple colored crescent moon shaped solidified energy flashed past him, creating a long scar on the tree. Kenshin's eyes widened seeing this. If he was a millisecond late, his body would have split into two. A cold chill spread throughout his body.

Stabilizing his footing, he searched the source. Not far from him was standing a well armored humanoid figure holding a large sword. The sword was as big as the humanoid figure’s height. The armor on its body was of pure red color as if dyed in fresh blood. The figure was very intimidating.

‘Strong!’ Kenshin thought after looking at it.

‘Shit!’ Kenshin screamed at his rotten luck. Out of all thing, he had to encounter this thing! Why did he have to face the final boss right off the bat? If it was a game, Kenshin would have complained to the game masters.

That aside, this thing was way too much for him. He, who had yet to touch level 20 was facing a level 50!? What kind of concept was this? Only a retarded person would have done this! But Kenshin was not a retarded person; he was simply unlucky.

Suddenly Roxe vanished from its spot. Feeling tingling sensation from his back, he jumped forward and made a roll to protect himself. Like before, just a milliseconds later, a red flash occurred where he was standing earlier and a red sword revealed. The sword was poised in such a way that it would have pierced his heart, had he not moved in time.

Before Kenshin could collect his bearings, the sword flashed again. This time it swiped towards his neck. From his crouching position, Kenshin leaned back so much that his back touched the ground. The sword passed harmlessly above his nose, managing to slash a few hairs off his head.

Since the short missed, Roxe was exposed. Planting his hands on the ground and using it was a pivot, Kenshin leaped up and aimed a kick towards Roxe’s head. It casually leaned back and avoided Kenshin’s kick.

Now it was Kenshin’s turn to become vulnerable. The sword flashed again like again toward’s Kenshin’s exposed torso.

Seeing the approaching sword, Kenshin hastily retrieved a shining shield from his inventory and held it in front of his torso protectively.

Ting!

The sword landed on the shield, producing a loud metallic noise. Sparks flowed as the sword didn’t manage to harm him but the force of the impact had sent him flying.

Kenshin felt like someone beat him using a hammer. The force that sword crashed on his shield sent him barreling in the air. Unable to maintain his balance, Kenshin crashed on the ground like a crashing jet. A deep trench formed on the ground from his hand which was used to break his slipping speed.

A damage value floated above his head.

Furrowing his brows, Kenshin looked at the shield that he had received from Maria, who had declined to take any loot from the guardians they slew. On the otherwise shining shield, there was a line vertically drawn from one side to another. It was from the earlier clash with Roxe’s sword.

Now Kenshin was really scared. This monster did not give him enough time to counterattack, raining one heavy attack after another relentlessly. Although he couldn’t see Roxe’s complete status, from what was visible, Kenshin was suer of the disparity. The stat gap was simply too much. This gap couldn’t be surmounted simply by equipment.

Thankfully he still had his title bonus.

He immediately went through the skill list in his system’s store and bought a passive skill named Scythe Mastery.

[Congratulations* you have bought a passive skill]

[You had been charged 498 G]

[Scythe Mastery(Passive/Always Active) Lv 0][1000EXP to next level up]

[Eases the use of scythes]

[+1% ATK while using Scythe]

Suddenly he felt like his head invaded by someone before a huge amount of information downloaded on his brain directly. Only a seconds later the sensation vanished, leaving Kenshin blinking.

Kenshin retrieved the Scythe of Specter Guardian and held it in basic scythe stance. The wicked looking scythe was very powerful, least 2 times more powerful than his Skeleton Knight’s sword.

It had an astonishing ATK of 150.

Pointing the scythe towards Roxe, he went on aggressive. With the help of his newly acquired passive, it felt like he had been using a scythe for all his life. Using his highspeed movements passive, Kenshin’s slashes became a blur, faster than what Roxe had shown earlier.

Thin lines formed on the floor whenever the scythe passed above ground. Even so, Roxe easily avoided his slashes. During this, Roxe had done a mistake and jumped above to avoid a strike to its legs. Taking advantage of it, Kenshin conjured Flaming Slash and stacked it on the bladed part of the scythe.

“Moon Arc!” Kenshin shouted as he made a moon like crescent arc towards the airborne Roxe. But the rogue core did nothing to defend itself, as if confident on its equipment to protect it. It was an error on its part.

[+189 Base ATK(ATK+Equipment ATK) + 2835 ATK(1500% Title ATK Bonus) + 90 MATK(Flaming Slash and additional +10 due to condensing) = 3114 ATK]

A massive amount of damage floated above Roxe. Like Kenshin before, it was also sent flying. Holding his scythe in its position, Kenshin took a deep breath. The earlier moves made him a little tired. Added to that his repeated use of Replication on the monster which consumes some stamina point every use, Kenshin finally felt tired.

Ignoring the constant notification beeps, Kenshin looked towards the downed Roxe, who was yet to stand up. He was not naive enough to believe that it had died.
