436. Advisor Z1

-Vol 6: Dusk of An Era-

-Advisor Z1-

When Z1 saw Ena returning without much of a fuss, he sighed in relief. She was much better than Z2 in this aspect. She wasn’t as violent and out of control as him. perhaps it was because she was yet to awaken her memories fully. Z1 was thankful that it didn’t come to a case of severe violence. Now that she was alone, he felt this to be the right time to have a talk with her.

Ena was not sure how she should be feeling. Her search was an utter failure, yielding no result despite her wasting a day for it. she neither get any leads to those visuals nor she had a clue to further her search. All she could do was to return while feeling a very uncomfortable emotion in her mind. She couldn’t say she was feeling it in her heart as she didn’t have the heart to feel, or so she thought.

As she was walking with a lot in her head, she didn’t saw someone approaching her and bumped into that person. Normally when someone bumps into her, it was the other party who would push back and fall in some cases, but this time she was the one who pushed back and nearly fell. “who?” she mumbled and looked up only to see a very familiar face.

“Z1? What are you doing here?” Ena asked in her perpetual cold face and straight tone. She would only bother to smile or change her tone when she was in the presence of her master and his family. Aside from them, she would never try hard to show emotions to anyone.

“Hmm, our master found you moving around aimlessly so he sent me to see if you are alright or need any help. You little girl, you really know how to worry him, don’t you?” Z1 said in a baritone voice. He looked at her with narrowed eyes and asked, “is it about the visions you had these days?”

“How did you know? You also have these kinds of visions” Ena asked even though her voice was still cold and uncaring, Z1 could feel a sense of urgency in it. Maybe it’s a zombie thing.

“I too have gone through this stage, so it’s nothing new to me.” Z1 said, “Ena, do you want to talk about it?”

“I, I am getting these images in my head that I have no recollection of ever having. The same thing repeats again and again until my mind goes blank… what do you think those are?” Ena asked in wonder. This was what troubling her these few days. She was unable to focus in anything as it ate her inside for not knowing the cause.

“That… well, I know the cause.” Z1 signaled her to follow him and walked away from the busy street. Ena nodded and followed him from behind, soon they arrived at a small park and sat on one of the chairs. Looking at his front, towards were small children playing with their parents, he cleared his throat, “ahem. You already know how we were created right? The thing is, what we are today is due to our master’s grace. But this wasn’t our first life, we had lived once before this. Due to having resentments in our hearts we couldn’t move on after death and became tools for the dungeons to control us by raising us as monsters. Master slew us, freeing us from that prison and again raised us what we are now.”

Stolen story; please report.

He waited for Ena, allowing her to digest what he said now. Seeing her nodding, he continued.

“But since we are already this intelligent and self-aware, again all thanks to our master, the memory of your past life came back. Right now, what you are seeing are the memories of your past life. Sooner or later you will remember everything in detail, and then a very problematic situation will occur.” Z1 made a bitter face while saying this. He remembered how Z2 behaved not that long ago, it was really a disaster when an identity crisis occurs.

“What situation?” Ena asked curiously.

“Well when you remember everything of your past life, it will mess up with your head, making you impulsive for a short while. That’s a short period of time, if not checked, you will do something that would cause a lot of headaches to master.”

“Huh? Really? have you also done something like that?” Ena asked in genuine curiosity.

“Not me, it’s Z2. He nearly went into a slaughter frenzy the day he awakened his memories fully. Had it not me being there coincidentally and stalled enough time for him to awaken, a few people would have died by his hands and master would have been in trouble.” Z1 shook his head.

“Eh, really? but I don’t want to create any trouble for the master. What should I do?” Ena asked back. Though it wasn’t revealed on her face Z1 could tell she was extremely worried.

“Well you can’t stop your memories from coming back. But you can very well stop yourself from going crazy. I will advise you to consult with me whenever you feel like losing your mind. I might not provide you any cure, but I can stop you until you regain your own sanity.” Z1 said.

“Alright.” Ena nodded and fell silent. Z1 too remained silent, opting to just see the children playing and do nothing else. Closing his eyes, he started to filter through his memories, recalling his past life. Unlike Z2, his past wasn’t that tragic. He used to be a small-time office worker and had a girlfriend. But before he realized he died on his bed, because that’s where his memories end. The rest was still a mystery. How he died was still a mystery and he had no intention of finding that out.

“Hmm, finally Z1 managed to find her that’s a relief.” Kenshin shut down the map and leaned on the sofa. Now he was alone in the apartment and Mrs. Yui returned to maintain her bakery. Having nothing better to do he stalked the two zombies but dared not to see through their eyes.

Due to their higher intelligence, they had an ego of their own, making them no different form normal people. he felt awkward and uncomfortable to intrude upon their privacy when not in a fight. Just as he was about to get comfortable, his phone rang. Looking at the ID, he saw it was Yuki.

“Hey, how are you honey!!?” Kenshin asked sweetly, feeling playful.

“Kenshin… can you come here now, please!” it was Yuki, but for some reason, her voice sounded subdued. As if she was thinking of something very important.

Kenshin sprang up to his feet and looked worried, “what happened?”

“I will tell you after you come here,” she said these and cut off the call.

“Hmm…” Kenshin felt into contemplation. He already knew the sad past she shared with the members of Elders’ association. He couldn’t even begin to comprehend the emotional stress she should be in right now.

Not even bothering to change from his attire, he jumped out of the room and stood on the ground. Activating [Burrow] he gradually submerged into the ground, with his destination set on Tokyo.
