-Vol 5: A New Life-
-A hundred-year-old family’s fall(3)-
It was around the middle of the night when suddenly a piercing alarm rang on the main DCB office of Fukushima. All the officials were alerted instantly as well as all the regular officials who usually come by the day. This alarm system was designed in such a way that it would notify everyone via phone and emails once pressed. As such with the piercing noise that could travel to a few hundred meters, the central computer also sent emergency emails to all the hunters working there.
In one of the expensive villas, Leena Cooper woke up with a start and hurriedly dress up and ran towards the office. A few minutes ago her phone had received a message claiming that the head office was under attack. It took her a few seconds to authenticate the credibility of it as it was the main office we are talking about. But she couldn’t dilly-dally any longer. Even if it’s a drill, she still had to listen to it.
She didn’t take her car, as a level 100+ hunter, her raw speed was faster than any car’s. Although she was a magic skill user, she had already passed her first awakening, making her physical strength, not any lesser than a physical skill user.
Generally, before reaching level 300, which was the DemiGod level, the human body would go through three changes which are called awakenings. This happens during level 100, level 200 and at the border of level 300, i.e. level 299. To store higher order energies, the body was forced to undergo a variable evolution whose by-product was becoming physically five times stronger than a normal human.
Cooper ran as fast as she could and reached the main office within a few minutes and what she saw couldn’t be explained in words. The office that was the head of the department of all the hunters in the prefecture, the office which should have been the safest place in the area, was now reduced to ruins. Bodies of soldiers littered all around, some dead while some were critically injured, hanging between life and death. The few hunters who should be inside the office were brutally beaten up to the point that they no longer have their consciousness. At the same time, booming noise was coming from within the ruined office, indicating that the cause of all this was still inside.
Her face immediately turned gloomy, and she saw red. She didn’t expect to see such a day occur in her lifetime. Forget about her career, the lives of all these soldiers that were lost today weren’t something that should happen in this place. The media was yet to arrive, giving her some time to take a breather.
What the hell was happening? Why was this happening? She wondered out while walking step by step closer to the ruined building. Her acute senses already caught five signatures engaging among themselves. Amongst them, she recognized three while the other two were foreign.
The weird and dangerous thing was that, among the two unknown signatures, one she couldn’t feel any fluctuations, while the other, the suffocation feeling coming off them was enough to make her understand that the enemy wasn't mere hunters either.

‘This is not good! The three hunters are in danger. These people were powerful, probably already surpassed level 100 barrier.’ Thinking of such, she jumped inside and dashed to where the feeling came from. After taking a few detours to avoid any falling debris, she finally reached the place and saw two people, one muscular man and another kimono wearing lady were engaging with three hunters from the DCB.
To a third party, the fight looks like it's between two equally strong people, but she knew better. The muscular man and the lady in kimono were just playing with them. The man on the lead, a middle-aged man, was desperately blocking all the muscular man’s punches with his shield. At the same time the two in rear, one archer and other magic skill user were attacking him and the lady in the kimono alternatively.
But the lady was easily avoiding all the arrows and magic ice shards with light and elegant movements. At the same time, the arrows and the ice shards were bouncing off the muscular man causing no harm to him.
“Just finish them off, and let's go before the true force arrives. I have already checked the whole place. Our target isn't here.” the lady in the back calmly said and urged the man to wrap this up and go.
“Hmm! Okay!” the man bellowed before his right hand encompassed in bright blue light.
“Not good!” Leena Cooper understood what’s the man was going to do, so speed up and at the same time started to channel her magic.
“Die, weaklings!!” the muscle man shouted loudly before sending the punch to the man’s head, who had raised his shield to protect himself.
Suddenly at that time, a red rectangular barrier appears in midair, stopping the punch in the tracks while dissipating all the aggressive force in it. Even the man’s momentum was messed up, causing him to slip and fall back-first.
“What! What happened?” the man scrambled on the ground after falling down and looked around for the culprit. Then his eyes landed on Leena who was coming towards them with rushing steps.
“Director!” the three hunters instantly felt relieved upon seeing their director’s presence. They were among the second group of hunters who came after receiving the emergency message. The first group were already beaten to a pulp by this man. They were fighting with this man for more than twenty minutes, and they were yet to gain an advantage. He was simply too strong, shrugging off all their attacks as if they didn’t hurt at all.
They already knew that they weren't this man’s opponent, but what can they do? It was their obligation to protect this office and its people, they just couldn’t abandon their duty just because their enemy was strong!
But now they could take rest. The director was here, and she would see these shameless enemies what true power looks like. Despite knowing that they were weaker than him, the muscular man played around with them at the same time cursing them up a storm. They were repeatedly called weaklings, worms and many more derogatory terms. Listening to all that, even Buddha would get angry, and they were all simple humans, albeit with superpowers.
“Good job you guys. Now you can leave here, you are no match for these two. Immediately leave here and prevent anyone from entering here. it's my order.” Leena Cooper ordered around and sent them out of place.
“Who are you?” the muscular man had already picked himself up and glared at the woman. He couldn’t understand how and weak looking human could bypass his defense and make his force dissipate at the same time make him fall embarrassingly on the ground.
“That should be my question? Who are you and how dare you rampage here in my office? As for who am I, it’s Leena Cooper. The director in charge of this place.”
