[Ding* you have killed a monster under the effect of your skill Replication. You can replicate one of the skills of the fallen golem.]
[Note: This skill won’t take the available skill slots of the Replication skill.]
The moment the golem died and vanished into thin air, a multitude of notification popped into being. The experience he received was like a drop in the ocean for him; he didn’t dwell on it for long. The latter two was what he was waiting for. 10 skill points and a passive skill that grants him fire resistance.
Of the two, he lacked the skill points and needed them the most. In the past few days, he had seen many strange but powerful skills. Due to his already available skill slots were being full, he was unable to copy them. In the past, he had more than fifty skill points saved up, but he had to use them all on the north to become stronger. His life was on the line there. After receiving these ten new, he swore that unless it's necessary, he would never use it up completely again.
As for the fire resistance skill, it was his first time gaining an elemental resistance skill from the system. It was his first time seeing an elemental resistance type skill. He had seen damage resistance types and magic resistance type skills, but a pure elemental type resistance type skill was his first. Even the golem he just fought only had a physical and magical damage resistance type skills.
An elemental type of skill was many times better than a normal or magic resistance type of skill due to one simple reason; it makes a person completely immune or at least provides enough resistance to not be affected by that element much, even in their day to day life. Theoretically, those with elemental resistance could defy the physical. For example, a person with high enough water resistance could remain completely unaffected by any water body in the world. Some even claimed that those people could even breath underwater.
But, elemental resistance type skill users were even rarer than a magic skill user. Their statuses are also not that low from a magic skill user. At least, to Kenshin’s knowledge, he didn’t know anyone with an elemental resistance type skill.
Although currently it only provides 0.5% resistance, he knew once it levels up, the skill would become a force to reckon with. His high damage resistance and physique had already made it impossible to take damage even from boiling lava, with the added bonus of resistance skill, he could only think what would happen next.
Finally, for the last notification, he inspected the golem’s skills again and tried to think which skill he should copy. Earth Body was a good choice, but he already had a better version of it available to him. Besides, at this point, a fixed number of increment would do him no good, despite looking so good.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Finally, Kenshin decided on the only defensive active skill this golem had. Its called [Sturdy Body], using stamina, it would harden the body, providing it with some amount of damage protection.
[Ding* You have selected Sturdy Body. Do you wish to continue?]
[yes][No]
“Yes,” Kenshin selected ‘yes’ and waited for the skill to appear on his UI. At that instant, he started to recall a large amount of information that previously wasn’t there. He had already gone through this process many times, so he wasn’t surprised at the sudden weirdness of learning a skill. But since his PHY, INT, and WIS were more compared to past, except for a mild throbbing for a second, he felt nothing else.
[You have learned Sturdy Body]
[Sturdy Body Lv 0][1000 EXP to next level up]
* +1% universal damage reduction
* 10 STA/min
After checking out all the notifications once more to confirm that he didn’t miss anything else, he closed the UI and observed the place where the golem just vanished, expecting to find some drops. But unfortunately, this stingy monster gave him nothing, only a pile of burning rocks.
Shaking his head in disappointment, he turned around to leave the dungeon. He knew the dungeon boss won’t appear anymore if it didn’t appeared while he was fighting the golem. Pegging it to be a coward one, he was disinclined to waste more time. He had already amassed all the wealth this dungeon has to offer, there was nothing for him in here anymore. Now the only thing he had to do was to sell all those items he collected.
It's time to give Suguro a call.

Thinking of such, when he turned around, he caught the sight of a woman standing like a statue, looking at him like she just saw…something!
‘Since when she was standing there?’ He wondered while looking at the girl. Even while she was standing a few hundred meters away from him, his enhanced vision could clearly make out her features. She didn’t seem any older than 17, although she wasn’t the most beautiful girl around, he could feel a certain amount of charm oozing from her body, grabbing his attention.
But there was nothing for him to hide, so he didn’t mind her looking. Shaking his head, he treaded on the same path he came from. Coincidentally, Kenshin’s walking path coincides with the place where she was standing. The sparkle in her eyes when she saw him coming towards her made Kenshin realize that some sort of confrontation was unavoidable.
Crossing two hundred or so meters with just a few steps, Kenshin appeared beside the girl and attempted to walk past her. But was stopped when she jumped in front of his path again.
“Yes!?”
“Y-you are new here?” the girl fumbled with her words but soon found her voice. She seemed to very nervous while talking with him. It has to be expected, if she had seen the full fight, then she should have realized his full strength. She was only seventeen after all.
“Yes, I am,” Kenshin replied kindly. He wasn’t an asshole who treats everyone with contempt. He was just a normal human who became strong overnight.
“Oh! I see! That’s why I have never seen you here before!” the kind tone from him had made her relax a lot. The poor girl found her confidence again and no longer stuttered.
“I am from Mito. Are you a local?” Kenshin spoke while resumed walking, the girl followed with her hands crossed behind.
“Yes! My name is Chiba. Nice to meet you.” She smiled.
“Oh! Nice name. I am called Kenshin. You can call me that.”
“Ah! Yes. Hello Kenshin. Ehhh…just now I was watching your fight with that rocky monster. You are very strong! What's your level, if you don’t mind me asking?” she hesitated but spoke her mind. She was very curious about the man who had fought with a monster that didn’t seem to be a regular monster of this dungeon barehanded.
She had no illusions about the strength of the monster, as a magic skill user, she was very sensitive to magic and everything related to it. Although she felt no magic emitting from that rock monster, she felt a numbing sensation just by looking at it, even while standing a few hundred meters away.
Such a monster was defeated by this man barehanded; it spoke volumes about how strong he was.
