Kenshin grit his teeth in frustration. The crow’s HP had already filled to the brim, and it quickly flew out of range. At the same time, the sparrow had hidden behind the group of monsters summoned by Lyda.
Everyone would agree that the most annoying opponent was a summoner. Their ability to call for help by summoning many beings of varying strength gives nightmares most monsters, and as of right now, Kenshin was the only the latest to suffer under a summoner. Not only that but after her past shameful defeat, Lyda came prepared. Not only had she had learned to fight seriously, but she also had included a healer to her collection. But this was just the start of Kenshin’s nightmares.
The earth didn’t have a class or job system yet. People were killing monsters according to their skills and didn’t have a definite class. In a way, it could be said they were running blindly. Lyda wasn’t from this realm, or more like; she grew up in another realm. This was why she was able to have the class ‘summoner.’ She knew techniques that were yet to become popular in this realm, hoping to use that advantage for revenge. Unfortunately, even with advanced hunting systems from other worlds, she couldn’t bridge the gap of strength between levels.
After her debut, she got her ass handed to her by not one, but two humans. She blamed everything on Kenshin though. After recuperating, she searched for many days, looking for the flaming human who had injured her. She then received a message from an unknown source that the human whom she was searching for was in Japan. Unexpectedly, she found whom she was searching for in a lucky coincidence.
How could she let him go? Now here they were, duking it out with each other and till now, she was having the upper hand. When an opponent had a healer within their party, common sense dictated to kill it first. It would half the opponent's fighting strength. Unfortunately, in Kenshin’s case, the healer was a little sparrow who likes to hide behind a group of powerful monsters.
‘This damn bird! I need to kill this thing!’ Kenshin then pulled out his sword once again and leaped towards the small sparrow that hid in between the driller and one of the legs of a huge monkey. With his superior speed and reflexes, he deployed the movement skill he bought, [Five Point movement], and zigzagged towards the sparrow.
Suddenly, the huge monkey moved. It used its legs to throw a kick at Kenshin. At the same time, the driller monster’s two tentacles transformed into fine whips with a rotating end. In short, a whip with a drill attached to the tip. It stood guard in front of the sparrow, protecting it.
A bright yellow light enveloped Kenshin’s sword as he sent a crescent wave of pure energy towards the head of the creature. At the same time, he rolled in mid-air, coated his sword in the wall of flames, and slashed the ground with everything he had.
The drill monster hastily used it's mane like protrusions to create a shield to block the wave, but was unprepared for the following wall of flame.
Boom!!
[-5078]
It was sent flying a few meters, as a huge damage value floated above its head in red. The total HP of this monster was around 60k, which was probably lowest among the group, along with having very low defense. In exchange, it could attack with an incredibly high damage output. Since it could damage the dungeon's floor with its drill, its power shouldn’t be weak in the slightest.

Kenshin was determined to end its miserable life first. At this time, a stray wind hit him in the side of the face. His dragon sense went haywire as he felt like he was laying on pins and needles. Without even bothering to look for the source, he jumped forward and rolled around to stand behind the squad of monsters.
A huge fist blasted past where he stood a few seconds ago, with a trench stretching across the ground created by the shockwave of the fist alone. Kenshin guessed that the ATK power for that fist probably above 10k since it looks like it broke the sound barrier. As he stood just behind the lion-driller thing, he once again attacked it with a combination of [Fire Manipulation] and [Earthen Slicer].
[Ding* Critical strike triggered]
[-14,000 HP]
“Finally, a critical hit!” Kenshin shouted happily. His abnormal finally came in handy. A critical strike was a condition where the target was dealt double the damage of the original strike. There was also a small chance of completely negating defense when the critical strike was triggered. Kenshin had trigger the defense negating effect when his critical strike succeeded.
The driller monster now had a huge dent in it's HP. It roared and rolled around in pain, but Kenshin didn’t show any mercy, opting to shower it in his barrage of attacks. Although he didn’t succeed in triggering any more critical strikes, the monster's defense had been broken and it will stay defenseless for a few more seconds. He didn't want to waste that time.
As the barrage continued, the HP of the driller dropped like crazy. There was even a time when it would fall into a ‘stunned’ state for a split second resulting in a total collapse of its defense yet again.
“You bastard!” Lyda suddenly shouted as if she was in pain, sending a yellow flying sword made of pure energy in his direction. This time, the sword was faster and brighter than before. Kenshin, who didn’t want to take useless risks, instantly rolled away. But at that time, with ‘caw’ noise, a huge shadow engulfed his surroundings. Looking up, he found the huge crow was coming his way with its claws glowing, intent on skewering him. It clearly intended to take his life in one go.
But unexpectedly, his dragon senses tingled, warning him of danger on his left side. Kenshin felt that his skill was malfunctioning somehow since it was clear that the attack was coming from above. Why was he feeling the tingling sensation to his left then? He suddenly remembered that he was currently standing inside a circle with enemies on all sides.
And a few microseconds after this realization he felt idiotic and was met with a huge punch from a fist that was larger than he was tall.
“Nghh!” Kenshin was sent flying like a soccer ball punted by Messi. His body arced in the sky as he landed tens of meters away with a loud crunch. A huge crater was formed on the ground where he fell.
[-2000HP]
He took 2k damage just from a single punch. Before Kenshin regained his bearing, the crow dive bombed towards him beak-first. The air in front of his beak distorted, forming a conical air tunnel around it. Just by seeing how the bird manipulated the air, Kenshin could tell how much power the dive packed. He might be insta-killed if he takes the hit with his bare body.
'[Burrow]', he suddenly remembered. It would be the most logical method of escape available to him. He used the skill, [Burrow] to quickly escape into the ground.
Boom!!
After the bird hit the space Kenshin occupied a few seconds ago, a loud sound was heard, and dust and debris were scattered around coupled with huge chunks of destroyed pavement. The bird searched for the mangled corpse of its prey, instead it found a huge hole in the ground, its prey missing.
On the other hand, deep inside the ground, Kenshin sighed in misery. If his goal was only killing Lyda, he would have used [Opposites] and entered inside it and slaughter her. He was instead trying to use his opponent to grind levels. All of the summoned creatures were high leveled, and if he were to kill them all, he might reach level 100.
But this was proving harder than he anticipated. The animals had good coordination and battle tactics, making fighting them nigh impossible.
