-Vol 6: Dusk of An Era-
-Revenge(2)-
“With this, my revenge is over… for now.” Kenshin said, looking at the still calm mansion of the Kawakuchi family. The family members were yet to be aware of these deaths. As such, the mansion was still calm. Kenshin had taken pictures of those he had killed. He would later upload them to the internet if this family try to suppress the news.
“For now! Didn’t you say everything was over since you have killed the head of this family?” Tar’el asked surprised while sitting on Kenshin’s shoulders in her spiritual form. From her knowledge, killing the leader would eventually crumble the whole kingdom.
“That may be true, but I have discovered that there is another person here who can take control of this family without much effort, even with all these people are dead. That person is still inside Mito, so unless I get rid of her, this family would still pose a threat to me.” Kenshin said before using [Burrow] to gradually sink into the ground and travel to Mito.
“When did you learn that? I am with you the whole time, and yet I never saw you conversing with anyone or reading any document… how did you know?” Tar’el couldn’t understand how Kenshin come to know what he was claiming.
“It was inside that old man’s study room. There was a picture in a frame, where this old man and a very young lady standing together with another few people from different countries at a party. They all are smiling towards the camera…” Kenshin said, recalling the portrait he saw in the room.
“What’s a camera!?” Tar’el asked with her head tilting to her side. If she were to be a genuine skin and muscle fairy, it would have looked cute; unfortunately, she was just bones, nothing else, and this didn’t raise any point in cuteness meter.
Kenshin didn’t answer her, choosing to focus on the map so that he could reach that person. It was half an hour since he called Joy, by now the battle had already been started with those huge monsters. No matter how much confidence he had in Joy and Chiba, he was still worried about them. Even though he acted calm and collected, his mind was there the whole time. That’s why he was in a hurry, he didn’t waste time on finding dirt on the family. He simply killed their top members and scurried away. Now he will also do the same in Mito. After getting rid of that woman, he would then quickly return to the battlefield. He will not let his friends die, no matter what sacrifices he must make.
It took him less than ten minutes to appear from Ibaraki to Mito via his skill burrow, that kind of speed could be comparable to Monster-core powered bullet trains that run between towns and cities here. After arriving on the eastern side of Mito, he found the whole town was devoid of all the populace. Even dogs and cats couldn’t be seen on the streets, giving the appearance of a ghost town.
“Gotta give props to the mayor of this town, his decision was lightning first.” Giving the leader of the town hats off, Kenshin ran towards the Kawakuchi mansion located towards the end of town.
“If leaders wouldn’t be this decisive, they shouldn’t be qualified to lead people. I can see, this so-called Mayor is a visionary man.” Tar’el complimented the mayor’s decision.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Hmm, he might be… or he might have been forced to take this decision. Anyway, let's stop complimenting him, we should go and greet our enemies.” Kenshin ran with his full speed until he arrived at the gate of a very familiar mansion. It was the place where he captured that person after tailing the poison welding teenager. That day he didn’t know about it and only thought it was the home of some powerful hunter, and thus he made a run for it after grabbing his target. But now, after so many days, he finally understood, all his enemies were actually a single entity.
His conflict with that middle-aged man who was after Mrs. Yui, and later the assassins sent to kill him. The group of hunters who managed the CP racket, angering his very soul. They all were, coincidentally, a single entity. He had already taken care of half of the problem, now after eliminating this lady, one of his enemies would be wiped off the map.
‘After this, there were only two left who can threaten me… Axel’s mysterious captors and that group who was about to summon the owner of that humongous hand back in the north.’ Kenshin narrowed his eyes as he felt worried about these tow enemies. Not to mention their strength, he didn’t even know their origin. And that little episode where the vampire girl sacrificed her life to summon that plump demon, it made Kenshin’s heart chill just by remembering her overwhelming power despite heavily restrained due to her partial summoning.
Like before, he used [Greater Concealment] that had reached level 2 by now and stepped foot into the mansion gate. Last time he had come here, he was led to an isolated house in the mansion, he could now see the isolated house was on the opposite side of the gate. He passed through the stone pavement, mindful of not stepping on any damp places.
This skill might have the ability to conceal even the existence, but right now, it was impossible when it was just too low level. He had to level it up all the way to 50, which was its absolute cap to reach the stage of hiding even his existence.
‘Although I am not sure what it meant to hide one’s existence… I will ask about it to Tar’el later.’ Carefully avoiding all the damp places, he stepped into the main hall of the mansion. Then with the exited via the back gate towards that isolated house. Before taking care of the main dish, he wanted to get rid of these appetizers first.
From his map, he already knew two were inside, taking rest, or doing something. That day he had sene 5, after capturing one, there should be four more. Including the lady in the picture, there are a total of 5 people he had to kill today.
“huh!” a middle-aged man who was sitting on the couch suddenly faced towards the front door of the house with a frown.
“What is it, No.2?” another man the same as him asked, seeing the weird behavior of No.2.
“I just felt a burst of killing intent coming from there… must be my imagination.”
“Haha, you are always the paranoid one among us-“ just as the man finished saying ‘us’ a glowing silver sword tip came out of his neck, with blood splattering over No. 2’s face. The man had his eyes widened, as it was too sudden. He was just about to laugh at his friend’s paranoid nature, but this infernal sword ceased his life.
“Your instincts are really sharp.” A cold voice was heard soon after the middle-aged man’s neck got pierced. No.2, who was getting ready to run away as soon as he saw his friend die, shivered in fear hearing the cold voice just behind his back. Not a microsecond after a clawed hand burning in etherial purple flames came out of his front chest, holding his still-beating heart in it.
Plop!!
The hand clutched the heart, turning it into mush, and with that, No.2 died with disbelief written all over his face. The purple flame then expanded, burning the body completely in a matter of seconds, not even leaving ashes behind. At the same time, the other person whose neck was pierced by the sword also took his last breath. Among these two, only he had seen the true face of their killer.
He would forever remember those cold as tundra eyes of their killer, who was looking at them like they were nothing but trashes.
