-Vol 5: A New Life-
-Revelations(2)-
There was a limit to how much one can handle, and Kenshin had reached his, the moment he came to know that Earth was just a prison planet and that there were visitors even before life appeared on it. The things that Core revealed was too much for him to digest in one go. But Core wasn’t finished.
“With Earth coming in contact with magic, the formation that protected these dungeons weakened gradually until the day came when it was destroyed completely, bringing these dungeons to the surface.
Countless dungeons polluted the earth’s environment, as the aura coming from them corrupted the creatures, giving birth to the monsters and various magical phenomenon. Earth’s geography changed and little by little, even the people also changed.
You could say it as a form of level up for earth.
With dungeon open for anyone to enter, we the so-called cores waited for a chance to freed ourselves. And that chance came in the form of a contract. While you will get strength from the contract, your every awakening would break a shackle that binds us. Fortunately for me, I only got a single shackle which was broken after you have undergone your first awakening. For that, I must thank you…hahah!!” Core laughed once more. Ever since he met Kenshin here, he couldn’t stop himself from laughing every sentence. The situation was just that funny to him.
“Then, what exactly was that contract meant for?” this exact question bugged Kenshin more. While he was going through his awakening process, the system had notified him of contract breach. He still couldn’t understand why it was so. From what he could remember, the contract demanded his protection in exchange of power. If anything, it should be from his side where the contract should have been broken. Then how come his system mentioned that it was not him who had broken it!?
“Ohh that? Well, it’s a little complicated process where I had to dupe even the contract itself… don’t Try to think much of it. It was only possible because of the unique skill I possessed. If not, I wouldn’t have dared to go against that.” Core suddenly became somber as he talked about the contract.
“I see…then what about your origins you spoke about when we first met? Was it all just a made-up tale?” Kenshin asked, feeling a little odd all of a sudden. After all, if it were a made-up tell, then he would feel bad. He had believed him when this Core told he was a conceptual being.
“Made-up tale? Well…what I said that day was actually a half-truth. About the origin of Dungeon cores, that was actually the truth. But about me being one of them, that I lied. You don’t know this, but in upper realms, some of the powerful factions use ancient formations to create a Conceptual being to be the core of a dungeon. Not only it would help them in trapping excessive monsters, but it also allows others a place to train and level up. So, what I said is a half-truth.” Core sounded a little embarrassed at being caught red-handed.
“What? Formations? What are those?” Kenshin didn’t point out the lie for now, and instead grabbed the new word uttered by Core. He was very much familiar with that word called ‘Formation.’ Not only him, anyone who was a game or anime geek could tell what a formation was.
But it was different hearing it from someone who seems to be alive even before first living being appeared on this earth.
“I see, you don’t know about it. No wonder. Well, your world has just recently entered the ranks of the magical world, so of course, you won’t know about it. After all, this is a world where even the basic of the basic, class system wasn’t implemented yet. No wonder! Well, to tell frankly, it would take too long to explain what a formation is, but remember this. The formation is an art of creating magical and sometimes divine phenomenon using runes. And please don’t ask me what a rune is, you will know about it when the time comes.” Core impatiently stood up and started to fiddle with something.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
As he did so, Kenshin remained silent the whole time while pondering about everything. He wanted to ask the meaning of the last words on his notification about how he did not break the contract, but seeing the happy face of Core, he concluded that this giant might not know it either. And his head was still filled with the crazy revelations of Multiverse.
As for fighting and killing him, who was he kidding? From the beginning to now, he was feeling the tingling sensation non-stop, and he was talking casually with this giant. Besides, this giant was able to lift a hammer half the size of the mountain he was standing on quite quickly; how can he hope to defeat him?
Kenshin wasn’t that foolish. But he had something he must ask, as such he took a deep breath and started, “What will be the impact of this on earth? On common people, I mean.”
“Hmm! That’s a pretty interesting question. Considering it was used to be a prison planet, the earth might still be under the Multiverse Government. But, if you guy’s luck was especially bad and some powerful faction colonized you, anything can happen. You should prepare for the worst. If I am not sure someone had already started having ideas on earth. Sooner or later, they will come here in bulk.” Core said calmly, if not with a little bit of excitement.
“I see, then what would be their average level?” Kenshin asked. Knowing the enemy was the most important thing to do.
“Hmm, considering other worlds has been exposed to magic for millennia, their normal level 10 warrior could overpower a group of level 10 hunters from your world. do you know why?” Core trailed off.
“Class!”
“That’s right, Implementation of the Class system, which was not yet appeared on your world. as such, if my memory is right before I was imprisoned here, an average soldier of a medium-tier faction was approximately level 100. I don’t know the power status of the current time, but I am sure it shouldn’t be that different.” Core tried to remember the average strength of warriors back then before he was imprisoned here.
“What? Level 100 on an average? Wouldn’t Earth be screwed if they really come here and start conquering?” Kenshin was too shocked to maintain his cool. Although he didn’t know about the global average of hunters’ level, he was sure it wasn’t 100.
Moreover, other worlds had a class system, which would give them even more strength and many advantages over this world’s hunters. He should know, after all, he had already gone through two class advancements. Now another one waiting for him as he just crossed level 100.
“Hah! That’s true Kenshin. Your home would be screwed no matter what. But I am sure that, for someone fo your strength and mentality, things won’t change much. Hmmm!! I have an offer for you, how about you come with me to my world?” Suddenly Core said these and steadily turned around.
As he did so, Kenshin was finally able to see the giant's face or lack of thereof. There was only plain flesh; nothing else could be seen there. No eyes, no nose, no mouth…nothing. Only a plain pale face, which was covered by the vizor of the helmet he was wearing.
“What are you? You don’t have a face?” Kenshin blurted out. He was too shocked. Ever since he had gone through this awakening, weird things were happening with him. First, there was that burnt dungeon, then that overly ugly and frightening scorpion, then some really terrifying secrets and finally this! A giant who was missing his face.
“Haha! I know this will startle you, that’s why I was showing my back all this time. I am from a race called Faceless Giants, from a planet far away.” After a laugh, Core revealed the object in his hand. Kenshin was finally able to see what he was fiddling with all this time, it was a huge black object with a few shining images on its surface.
“Look at this thing, it’s the ticket to my freedom from this godforsaken planet. So, what do you think? Will you join me?”
“Nah! I am fine. I have already duped by you once, I won't make the same mistake twice. Besides this place is my home, and I will stay here until the end.” Kenshin shook his head and denied without a second of consideration.
“Is that so! Too bad then. Well, we will meet if there is a chance. See ya then, try to survive the disaster, hahaha!!” Core activated the device as his body started to break into tiny cube specks and disintegrate into nothingness.
