-Vol 4: To The North Pole!-
-Vera’s Side(2)-
Now that the massive monster had gone on the offensive, it disregarded everything and only attacked in a frenzy. Its every strike was akin to a level 3 hurricane, making Vera have a hard time to dodge. But even so, she took advantage of her size and every now and then would land a few strikes on it.
Although it won't deal any significant amount of damage to it, it was still irritating for the monstrous beast.
But Vera soon found herself getting tired. Keeping up with this creature wasn’t an easy feat at all. On the contrary, it was very hard. Not only she had to watch out for its strikes but also her attacks are too weak to cause any severe damage to it. She knew sooner or later she would make a mistake and face an accident.
If it were being said that she wasn’t afraid of death, then it would be a lie. But she had steeled her resolve to fight till the end, but she didn’t want to die pointlessly like a fly by this monster.
Thus she decided to fight seriously.
Suddenly her body enveloped by a thick red mist, looking quite menacing. Taking a stance with her sword pointed towards the hulking monster, she narrowed her eyes. Its either she die, or this monster dies, escaping wasn’t an option.
Vera wasn’t a magic skill user; rather she was a regular skill user. But her usage of her skill was so ingenious that she was able to level up all the way to her current strength. Not only that, after she formed her Intent, she discovered that it was unusually strong than her peers. As such she was confident that she would be able to last quite some time against this monster. From her previous interactions, she was able to discover that this monster’s level hadn't reached 150, but due to its semi-intelligence, it was able to exhibit its strength better than other monsters of the same level.
Currently, Vera was level 119, a physical skill user that emphasized on speed. Due to this, no monster was able to catch up to her, allowing her to slay them quite easily. And this colossal ape was slower than her even when she wasn’t using her skill, now that she was going to use it, it wouldn't be even able to see her. With confidence, Vera started her assault on the monster, but she didn’t become complacent. The one who summoned this monster, she was still unaware where was that person.
As the red mist receded into her body, Vera’s body swayed as if it was an illusion before faded into the background. In reality, she didn’t fade rather it was just her afterimage that left behind after she moved.
It had also made the ape blink it was just about to attack that human. What's more, it couldn’t find the whereabouts of the human after she faded from that place.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
By the time the massive ape realized that Vera was no longer there, she to the side of its face in a flash. Since the ape was now kneeling, its height was comparatively low to when it stood, making her scaling less stressful. A red hue surrounded her sword as it flashed towards the unsuspecting ape’s eyes.
The ape's eyes were massive to the point that even if she had to stand up in align with it, she would be still unable to compare to the size. But this, in turn, gave her a vast space to attack.
KROAR!!!
The beast suddenly screamed in pain as a huge red line appeared on its sclera. Then like water escaping a mountain, a huge amount of blood poured out of it. Even if the ape was strong, its eye was still the weak part of its body. Moreover, Vera’s strike was by no means weak. Her attacks were able to wound her skin directly, let alone this soft eye muscles.
Seeing that her attack was succeeded, she kicked the air and ran away from it. She knew that this monster would now madly flail around making it difficult to approach. Running away temporarily was the best course of action.
Vera wasn’t a novice to the art of war against big and powerful monsters. Besides, being a higher level doesn’t mean you will be invincible against someone of the lower level, the reality isn’t like a cultivation novel after all.
After she retreated from her spot, her thoughts became a reality. The hulking ape, due to pain started flailing around, creating miniature earthquakes. can, a small smile formed on Vera’s face. She might be not going to die today, on the contrary, she may be even able to send this ape back to where it came from.
She didn’t have the thought of killing it as she knew she didn’t have the necessary strength to kill it. But making it retreat wasn’t a problem.
An ant can cause unbearable pain to an elephant, but it couldn’t be able to kill it no matter how much it tries. Her situation right now was somewhat similar. Just as she was about to relax a little, suddenly her danger senses went to overdrive, she immediately made a sideways roll and avoided an incoming yellow laser beam.
Coming to a stop, she immediately stood up and took a defensive pose, looking towards her assailant.
A few meters away from where she stood before, a cloaked humanoid figure was standing with their hand’s outstretched. That laser beam, it came from him.
“Ho! You are quite a competent human! You are able to dodge my beam.” A soft feminine voice came from the cloaked figure. She was indeed a woman.
“Is that ape your summon!?” Vera asked with narrowed eyes. She didn’t relax her guard against this figure despite not being able to sense any hostility from her.
“Perspective as well!!” the woman seemed to be happy while saying all these.
“Who are you?” Vera asked, this time a light red hue surrounded her blade again.
Although the cloaked woman noticed this, she didn’t make any move, on the contrary, she stood like a statue.
“Me! I am just a humble servant of my master. You don’t need to know my name. Just know this, I am not a human. But I do eat them from time to time, they are very delicious, especially the ones like you who are strong and smart. Their taste ahh….!” The woman moaned erotically towards the end. But it had made Vera even warier and a little afraid of this cloaked lady now.
Her words were coinciding with what a high-level monster of a particular species would say, but she was clearly humanoid not a slithering snake-like being!
‘Don’t tell me! she is an Enlightened being of that race!’
