170. Battle of Intents(2)

-Vol 5: A New Life-

-Battle of Intents(2)-

The moment the man exuded that suffocating aura again, Kenshin also became serious. He knew that kiddie gloves were out now, the real battle starts from henceforth. The earlier bout was all about gauging the enemy and compare themselves to the other. Now that both became aware of the other, the fight to kill starts now.

The system showed that this man was only level 78, but after their initial collision, he found that this man’s strength was probably on the verge of breaking through to level 100. Not to mention his stats, on moment its 98 on the next it would be 124, it fluctuates every time Kenshin scans him out, so he can't be sure about that. Furthermore, a level 78 should have a cumulative stat of 312 points, but with the fluctuation, Kenshin had already noticed it surpassing 400.

‘But its indeed strange, did this man had a contract like mine?’ Kenshin thought, or else how could he explain such abnormal stats. But he didn’t have time to think anymore, the man had already conjured glowing red bone spurs from almost all his joints. Then suddenly, in front of Kenshin’s eyes, he vanished, and before he could think of anything, the silhouette of the man appeared behind Kenshin with two of bone spurs aiming at two vital organs. Seeing this Kenshin’s eyes narrowed into slits, using his Highspeed Movements to its limit, he rolled forward to avoid the fatal strike. Before reaching the ground, he found the man appeared o his left with his knee poised towards his ribs, a bone spur was protruding out of his knees.

At this situation, Kenshin had two choices, either use his Destructive Energy Manipulation and block the strike or endure it with his body and Blood Armor. He forgone using a skill like that, as for Exploding Domain, he didn’t have time to activate it. That left with his body and armour alone, as such, he exercised his Intent that he developed while in the north. His brain function at such an abnormal speed that he felt like the time had suddenly stopped around him.

Suddenly his body enveloped in a gentle blue colour, before forming into an apparition of the shield. The bone spur penetrated through his shield and entered halfway before stopping, the tip almost touched his sides. What made Kenshin distress was the fact that although the bone spur was stopped by his armour, the red light entered it without any problem. There was even tiny scratch damage to his sides. It made his quite distress, he never knew Intents could pass through armours. If so, then aren’t armours were useless when you fight someone having an Intent of their own?

Actually, Kenshin wasn’t wrong, an armour was quite useless when fighting a person like that. But forming an intent was also that much harder. Not only that, those who develop an Intent were usually those who surpassed level 100. It was just due to his luck that he found someone like that so soon. It was often circulated among the upper echelons that, those with Intent could breach the barrier of the level and fight with strong without a problem.

Although Kenshin had formed two of the strongest type of Intents, his actual experience of using it was very low. It could also be said that he didn’t have any experience and knowledge of using them. It's like owning a sports car without knowing how to drive it. It's quite frustrating in so many levels.

But this fight was proving vital for him. He was slowly starting to realize the correct way to use it. This is how luck works. Luck is a very powerful tool to have. When one has enough of it, they could even affect the reality in different levels. Its as if the whole world is centred around them. in Kenshin’s case, his high amount of Luck allowed him to know his shortcomings and rectifying them. It helped him in the way he wanted in the most. The situation arranged so beautifully that he only faced someone who was a little tricky to handle, not strong to be a threat of life, not weak enough so that he could be defeated by a strike or two.

Kenshin was yet to realize the true power of his LUK stat. In fact, it could be said that it was the strongest stat to have in reality. It could alter reality after all.

Getting the time, Kenshin rolled out of the dangerous situation he was in just now. He created some distance between him and the man. He was very frustrated, he was clearly stronger than his opponent, then how was he getting his ass handed to him by his opponent? It didn’t make any sense.

Seeing Kenshin’s frustrated face, the man laughed mockingly and spoke “Why are you frustrated? It only happened because you lack the necessary experience in using your abilities. Although you have more than enough power, you lack the finesse in actually using them. What you lack is a battle experience with someone with equal intelligence as you. Remember my word, by any chance, if you leave here alive, try to get as much experience you can from fighting fellow hunters. Or else, despite having enough power, one day you will be killed by someone way weaker than you. Haha!!”

“I see! I still lack in various matters.” Although Kenshin understood his point, it still made him frustrate and feel humiliated. The pride he accumulated in recent days after his series of easy fights shattered in an instant. Until now, he was still underestimating his opponent. It made his sluggish in his movements, and he couldn’t bring out his 100%. Suddenly Kenshin realized that he had many things to learn from this opponent of his. He felt like he shouldn’t miss this chance.

As he thought of such, the formless aura he exuded earlier suddenly came out again. This time it had a hue of blue in it. An image of an upside-down sword floated above his head like the sword hung above Damocles’ head. The sword was illusionary and flickered so often like it would go out at any moment, but the majestic aura it emitted couldn’t be any more real. It felt like with just a single swing it could slaughter a thousand evil.

The man frowned when the image of the sword appeared above Kenshin, even his slaughter Intent was surprised by it. It made him wonder about the Intent Kenshin had comprehended. It was one of the strongest he had ever faced during his lifetime. Then he saw a blue light like that of sands gathering in Kenshin's hands before forming into a sword.

This was actually one of the visual effects while he pulls something out of inventory, there were many more, but Kenshin liked this style the most. It gave off a very cool vibe. The sword that looked like it was made from a red glass started to glow red before a blue aura enveloping it. The contrasting colour gave a very different visual effect.

From this moment on, Kenshin decided to not hold back anymore. No matter how strong or weak his enemy was, he would always give his 100%. It was a lesson he learned from this opponent of his.
