-Vol 5: A New Life-
-Grave News!-
“This! Isn’t this the image circulating on the internet, the one you conformed to be a fake?” Suguro was the first one to recognize it as he was dealing with that exact thing before Kenshin pulled him into this discussion.
“Yes. It’s the image of a giant, to be precise, a Faceless Gaint. That picture is authentic, and it was also the reason why this dungeon was destroyed.” Kenshin dropped the bomb in one go.
“Gasp!”
“What?”
“No way!!”
Three people showed three different reactions. But all of them had one sentiment, and that was the feeling of surprise. What Kenshin said was too surreal to believe but they all, except Aoi, knew the character of Kenshin. He would never lie or tell made up stories based on something like this.
“Kenshin, not that we doubt you. But what you said is just too farfetched to be accepted…do not you think so too?” Suguro exclaimed as a frown, marred his face. Even Aoi and Yuki were looking at him with complex looks, none of them believe what he was saying.
“I know what I said is really far fetched, but I can not prove what I said either. At most I can say everything thing that giant told me before vanishing…wait…Mrs. Aoi, I think given the nature of your skill, you can find something out of this right?” Suddenly Kenshin remembered something and pulled out the destroyed sparkling sword fragment and placed it on the table.
Immediately a suffocating aura enveloped everything, making Yuki and even Suguro pale from it. Kenshin placed an arm each on Yuki and Suguro and passed some of his overbearing magic and WIL to allow them to withstand the aura. As for Aoi, she was in a trance the moment the sword fragment appeared.
“Thak you Kenshin.” both Yuki and Suguro thanked him for protecting them. Then they fixed their eyes on the brightly glittering sword fragment, feeling curious about its origin.
“This fragment!! It doesn’t belong to this world!” Aoi started as she tentatively reached out towards the sword fragment, trying to have a better look at it. As she held in her hand, a thick purple mist gushed out of it, trying to get free form the sword. Suddenly a golden hallow burst out of Aoi’s penal gland and penetrated the mist, which was later slowly dispersed into the sword by the power of the golden hallow.
After that, Aoi came to her senses and threw away the peace of sword fragment away. Looking a beet haggard, she took out a handkerchief from her sleeves and wiped away the sweat she accumulated.
“What was that?” Yuki asked worriedly. Signaling her that she was indeed fine, Aoi looked at the sword fragment and then Kenshin, before sighing. Then she cleared her throat and said, “Kenshin is telling the truth. It belonged to a giant that didn’t have a face. Moreover, this sword fragment was used to be part of a miraculous sword that could slice through time and space. A truly curious artifact, but the most important part was taken away, leaving behind this tiny fragment that only had a tiny strand of aura.” She looked at Kenshin in wonder, “How did you get this?”
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Well, after that giant vanished, this piece of junk was discarded on the ground, which was shining. I got curious and took it away.” Kenshin replied honestly and refrained from asking what that was or what was that golden light. Every hunter had their own secrets, he couldn’t just ask it to her. At the same time, he regretted that his system was still undergoing an upgrade or else he would have tried to copy her skill.
“Ahem! We are moving off the topic. I had a brief talk with that guy, who surprisingly had a good temper. And this is what I heard from him…” after that, Kenshin spoke about their full conversation. From the beginning of Earth’s early periods to the time until the dungeon destroyed, he told them everything, including some of his own realizations.
Half an hour later, Kenshin sat on the chair as he fiddled with his phone, as a heavy atmosphere permeated through the whole room. In reality, he was sending that image of the creepy scorpion to Akari to scare her. After sending it to her, he waited patiently for her to see it and send him a reply.
He was quite giddy about her reaction.
As for the matter concerning world safety, it was no longer his concern. He had already given them enough proof and evidence about impending danger, with this, his work was over. Now everything depends on the people themselves.
People might think that he was selfish for thinking like this, or he was simply not a human for abandoning everything. But Kenshin didn’t think so. What he was today, it’s all due to what he had endured all these years. Back then, when he was suffering, no one came for his help. Forget about strangers, even their own relatives didn’t extend their hands of help. The brother and sister had to struggle for many years to finally reach the current stable lives. He owed nothing to the world and also the people. As for quote of power comes with responsibility, he didn’t give a single fuck to that. His powers didn’t come randomly! Although the system was a random appearance, everything else was his own doing. Why would he take responsibility?
Besides more powerful and influential people were there to hold the fort. There was no need for him to dip his nose in this matter. As of from now on, he would only mind his own business. From the last words of Core, an inter-dimensional war was inevitable and would come sooner or later. For that, he would use all the time in-between to strengthen himself and his close-ones. For now, his priority would be their recently formed party. He would use this time to strengthen Chiba, Joy, and himself as much as they could.
Kenshin gave a sidelong glance at Yuki, who had her hands propped on the table as her head rested on her open palms. Her beautiful face was marred in a huge frown. Clearly, she was worried about the future and was thinking of a solution. His only problem was Yuki, who was not a hunter and didn’t possess any skills.
‘I have to think of a way to make her strong. After the system comes back online, I will search for a solution on the system store. I am pretty sure I could find something necessary there.’ Kenshin made his plan. Nonetheless, he had seen potions, which can increase a certain stats open consumption. But most of them were temporary ones, he had to search for a more permanent solution.
While Kenshin was busy with his own thinking, the three people were deep in their thoughts, digesting everything Kenshin revealed to them just now. Finally, Aoi moved, with a seriously complicated face, she said, “I think we should take this matter to the Elders’ Court. This is our optimal option. This matter is not something people like us could think a solution to…”
Suguro unconsciously nodded while Yuki frowned at the mention of that group, but she remained quiet. It’s at this time, Suguro’s phone rung. He quietly received it and soon slammed it on the ground with trembling hands. Then he looked at the group with widened eyes and said, “I have received a piece of grave news…a level 4 dungeon suddenly destroyed, like how it happened to this one. But strangely a huge monster came out of it and wreaking havoc across the city.”
“Where?” Aoi asked.
“Yonezawa!”
After that, they all looked to Kenshin. At that time, whatever the doubt they had about what he told them vanished to thin air.
