449. Atub the God of Hallucinations and Prosperity

449. Atub the God of Hallucinations and Prosperity

-Atub the God of Hallucinations and Prosperity-

After clearing all the obstacles, Joy and Kenshin reached the topmost layer of the tower, and unsurprisingly it was the shape of a dense forest with a shrine in the middle of it.

“Looks like the boss battle is close.” Joy joked as he fidgeted with nervousness. It has to be expected as they were going against a fucking god this time.

Unlike him, however, Kenshin was not that nervous or fidgety. What kind of opponent he had not seen before? From a faceless giant that could tear holes in space to a kid that could control WIL to summon powerful monsters from another dimension. He even fought and defeated a mythical sea-dragon who could predict the future and invulnerable to all kinds of physical and magical skills.

Fighting against a god was not that much of a big deal… the only problem was the strength of this so-called god. If it was on the same level as that ‘Princess of Darkness’ he had very little confidence in beating him. As for its hallucinatory abilities, Kenshin had no fear towards it.

Why, you ask?

Because he found a very interesting way to use Dragon Sense. Using it, he could now see past the hallucinations. Not only him, but even Joy with his [Overdrive] also achieved the same feat, although on a lower scale than his.

They both cautiously walked through the dense forest, with the shrine in the distance as their target. As the closer they got to it, the more they could see of the shrine. It was actually a huge structure with violet Tori gates surrounding it. The huge shrine in the middle of these specially arranged Tori gates was in the model of an ancient Japanese shrine, decorated in red paint with golden drawings. Many paper figures like fans or dolls hung from these gates and the roofs of the palace-like structure. The paper lantern in them illuminated the path through the gates.

They saw a pond to the left of the entrance gate, filled with all kinds of colorful and unique fishes. Some even they had never seen before in their lives.

[Welcome to my humble abode, intruders.]

As soon as they stepped foot through the first tori gate, their ears rang with the same arrogant and young voice that welcomed them when they stepped through the tower’s main gate. No doubt, it was Atub. The very god they were seeking to fight and kill… or send him back from where he came.

That arrogance still didn’t fade, even though they scaled all the thirteen levels of the tower with relatively no difficulty on their part. It was as if he had complete control over everything happening around him. Forget about Joy, even the reserved Kenshin felt irritated by this voice’s lack of consideration towards it.

“No need to welcome us, we are not here to be your guest.” Kenshin gave a snarky remark, purposely trying to provoke this god who was yet to show his true form before them. Looking around with narrowed eyes, he continued, “Get your ass over here and let us kick it all the way to your grave or else we are breaking in and do it ourselves.”

“Nice, bro. I didn’t know you had in yourself.” Joy gave thumbs up to Kenshin, showing his admiration towards his arrogance.

With twitching brows Kenshin gave Joy, a middle finger “shut up and help me pull this turtle out of its shell.”

“Leave it to me.” Joy took in a deep breath and started, “you shitty asshole that likes hide in illusions, you think you are cool? You think by hiding yourself and speaking to our minds makes you badass? Wake up, dude. You are worse than the NEETs who feed off their parent’s money.”

Boom!!!

Joy’s taunt worked as an explosion occurred in the inner parts of the shrine, followed by a series of explosions. Before long the source of the sound came into their vision as a well-defined man in a traditional shrine dress burst out of the roof of the palace, holding a massive paper fan in his hands.

This man looked identical to Murata whom Joy had killed, only he had long white hair and small eyebrows, a sign of nobility in ancient Japanese culture. He was lightly tanned and had many blue runes flowing across his face and neck.

[You bastard! You are you calling NEET that feeds off his parent’s money? You two dare to disrespect me, a god!? I will make your deaths as miserable as it can be!]

While the man was lambasting on, Kenshin stealthily used his system’s storage to scan his attributes. Surprisingly enough, his system didn’t show ‘???’ which he half expected, instead it showed proper data befitting of a man of his status as a god.

“Damn! This god is really worthy of its title…” Kenshin muttered after seeing through all his stats. Kenshin had to revaluate his tactics against this god. Aside from its physical parameters, it was a monster in the magic aspect. From its magic attack to INT and WIS, to maximum MP to skills, everything about it screamed danger so using magic against it would be a foolish thing to do.

They can only fight using physical means.

[You have triggered a Karma quest.]

[Karma Quest 1: Defeat the rouge god Atub and send him back to ???]

[Rewards]

1. 100 Karna points.

2. Access to Karma Store.

‘This is… new!’ Kenshin was surprised to see the notification. Karma points were nothing new to him as he had gained them a few times after killing heinous criminals. The first time he gained these points was after saving the girl from those cannibals inside that level 3 dungeon. Later he again received a few points after killing the other cannibal that kidnapped Yuki. His third time receiving it was from those men who were running the CP gang.

He always wondered what use of these points, as he could not find anywhere where these points would come in handy. Even the system store did not use them. He always thought these points were just for show, like a calculator that would show him his good karma. However, after seeing this new notification, it calls made sense to him.

It's not that Karma points were useless, it’s just that he didn’t have anywhere to spend them. Seeing this, Kenshin was also giddy to see what kind of place was this Karma store and what he could buy from there. Considering the scarcity of these points, the things he could buy there shouldn’t be too shabby.

Taking Kenshin’s silence as his acceptance of his inferiority, Atub started to smile self satisfyingly. How he loved seeing this look in these humans. All he had to do was show a few of his abilities and he would be worshipped by these inferior beings. It was so different from his own world where no one cared for him.

Therefore, Atub was very angry and revenge-driven when these inferior humans, in his opinion, suddenly stopped worshiping him.
