-Conclusion(3)-
“Wow! Hey, look at that?”
“Is that a new model?”
“Fool, that’s a limited special model… what a beauty!!”
“I wonder who the driver is… he or she must be a rich second or third generation to afford something like this…”
Sounds of awe and excitement could be heard as Kenshin drove his limited edition car through the streets of Mito, showing off shamelessly. After all, what use of such an expensive car if he didn’t show it off in front of people. But, he still fell short in comparison to Joy in this art. He could easily do much more than what Kenshin was capable of doing.
Kenshin parked directly in front of the Main office of DCB in Mito. It's only an authorized parking zone, so no matter how rich a person was, they couldn’t just park their car there, or else it would be towed away. A security guard with a nasty smile on his face came instantly to warn him about it. As Kenshin yet to lower his side glass, he wasn’t recognized by the security coming his way.
“Sir, this is an authorized personnel parking only. Please remove your car from here, or we will have to take legal actions against you.” The security who looked around 30 to 35 had a smug grin on his face. From his face, one could tell how much he hated these rich third generations who only knew to squander their father's money and show off. From the way he acted, he seemed to have done this thing many times in the past.
“Heh! Really?” Kenshin whose was just about to pull out his license, stopped midway. He didn’t like this man’s tone. Kenshin may still try to maintain basic humility while interacting with others, but, at the end of the day, he was still a powerful hunter and a respected DCB Official. Its because he didn’t go around announcing his name everywhere that nobody recognizes him or else, how could such a useless person have dared to talk him in that tone?
When he came out of the car, the security was even more sure that this person was just a rich third generation, after all, except those waste of spaces, who would dress up this flashily? Hmph, I will teach this brat a lesion today -thinking of this, the man smiled nastily, giving the car a look. Pure jealousy flashed in his eyes. “That’s so sir, this space for people working in this place. No matter who it is, they aren’t permitted to land their cars here. Since you didn’t adhere to my warning that time, I have to take official actions against you and… this fancy car of yours.”
“I see, well, I don’t mind you taking official action against me.” Kenshin smiled at him, making the security guard who was expecting a stutter stare dumbfounded. Although rich people didn’t fear anything, DCB wasn’t a place where they could throw around their weight. One complaint from an official of DCB, no matter how deep one’s background was, they have to suffer… unless, of course, they were also a DCB official themselves.
As Kenshin was walking away in long strides, pulling the sunglass from his pocket while placing it on his eyes, his voice rang on the security’s ears. “Don’t do anything to my car… or I will make you regret it. If you want to take legal action, do so… that car is more expensive than each of your organs sold separately… be mindful of that. Have a good day.” Waving his hands, Kenshin disappeared into the DCB office.

“Welcome, sir.” The security on the door was the one he was acquainted with after coming a few times here. He flashed him a smile before nodding. His dressing style, as well as the funky look, attracted some attention from people inside, especially those hunters who wore tracksuits or trekking pants. They snorted disdainfully at him. Giving them a smile, the same one he showed to Joy this morning to piss him off, he carried on his way to the top floor, the place where Yuki regularly works.
“Hello, sir…! Ah!” coincidentally, the security in front of the door of the floor was the same one he encountered that night, to whom he had shown his ability to make the later shut up. The security trembled in fright after recognizing the person, gulping a mouthful loudly.
The horrors of that day were still fresh on his mind, the punishment of disrespecting a hunter also came later, making his days' literal nightmare. It was the only miracle that he wasn’t dismissed from his job and made disappear from the face of earth overnight.
“Oh, it's you. How are you doing… eh! I can't remember your name, sorry.” Kenshin apologized honestly. He really didn’t remember his name even though his intelligence was on the verge of surpassing a human’s limits. That’s how less of an impression this soldier on him that day. Besides, he never saw him after that day, and he even came here many times after that.
Kenshin didn’t linger for more than a few seconds, he entered the office, unrestrained by anything. Heading straight for Yuki’s office, he saw Lily coming out of the room as she closed the door silently behind her.
“Hmm!”
“Huh?”
The most awkward meeting of the day happened right off the bat. Well, this sucks -thinking this, Kenshin flashed a smile to her “Hello, Lily, how are you?”
“Hmph!” as expected, Lily was still angry at his blatant refusal that day. She gave a disdainful snort before going away while brushing her shoulder against Kenshin in a very rude way. Seeing her Kenshincould only smile wryly as he scratched the back of his neck.
“May I come in, ma’am?” Kenshin smiled as he playfully asked for permission. Yuki was wearing her normal office attire consisting of a business suit, a conservative skirt, and black pantyhose, together with heels. She had her black hair in an upward bun, looking pretty professional.
“Hmm! You? When did you come back?” a smile bloomed on Yuki’s face after seeing Kenshin back. He was not in town for the past few days, making her days increasingly boring. She used to hang out at his place after the work at her office was over every day.
“Last night… I wouldn’t have returned this soon. It's just that the situation called for it… so.” Kenshin wanted to first get rid of official, serious matters before being chummy with her. Both him and she were of the same type, they didn’t want anything to disturb their private time together.
“Hmm! Something happened?” she knew Kenshin better than anyone, he wasn’t one to whine about small matters unless something really serious happens. She narrowed her eye and propped her chin on the hand, listening in rapt attention. Kenshin recounted everything that happened, starting from the ambush to the revelation done by Trisha. When he was done, he leaned back on his chair, looking at the ceiling while muttering “I never wanted to dip my legs into such muddy waters… it's just my luck seemed to be especially bad or maybe good depending on which perspective you want to look. Sigh!”
“This is indeed troublesome, but at least you now knew your two supposed enemies are actually one… though I am not sure why would they send an assassin after you. Especially after this many days… it doesn’t add up if you ask me. Wait! Didn’t that girl asked you about your purple flame skill…” Yuki shook her head, unable to come up with a satisfying answer to her own question.
“That’s why I am here, Yuki. I don’t know how, but my identity’s been exposed to them. This assassination was, I think, is just a form of probing. They wanted to know the extent of me and my friend's abilities. Cause you know, I have fought with that man with poison ability and the man I brought here… the assassin was weaker than them both. I don’t think a family that managed to hide right under the government's nose would make such a rookie mistake.”
