-Vol 5: A New Life-
-A hundred-year-old family’s fall(1)-
“So, that’s what happened.” Mrs. Yuki calmly sipped on her tea while observing the boy playing with Ellie. The little boy was like a tiny little cat, curious about everything and Ellie, like a big sister, was patient enough to let him explore and know everything. Though Kenshin doubted if the boy understood any of Ellie’s explanations.
After the strange shout from Ellie, Mrs. Yui came rushing outside. Seeing a little boy in his hands, the calm and collected lady’s thoughts immediately went south. It took Kenshin more than fifteen minutes to just make her understand that he had no relation with the boy except picking him up from the streets. Now Kenshin was thanking his lucky stars that she didn’t call Akari immediately to inform her of his ‘deeds’, the matter would have been blown to epic proportions if that happened.
After this matter was settled, she invited them both into her house and offered Kenshin a cup of tea, which he didn’t refuse.
“Yes. I will be very thankful if you don’t misunderstand the situation anymore. Sigh.” Kenshin let out a miserable sigh. Just what had he done wrong to deserve this kind of skepticism from a beautiful lady like Mrs. Yui?
“Hmm! Now that I look at him a little closer, he didn’t look anything like you, even if he inherited everything from her mother. Not to mention he is like that!” she said while pointing at the boy’s walking on four legs.
“As I said, this child isn’t a normal one. Despite looking harmless, he was able to use a skill that could even evade my detection. He has followed me all the way from Iwaki, and I am none the wiser.” If it were not for his inexperience, messing up during manipulation of magic to enter into his shadow, he wouldn’t have been able to detect him. The event made him even more vigilant than before. He realized that in this vast world, various people have different skills, some of them were so weird that the current science couldn’t explain them. He reminded himself to not be complacent ever with his power, there would never be a situation where too much power is a bad thing.
Life is precious. He should never take it lightly, even if he has the power of revival.
“What!? He is that powerful?” Mrs Yui couldn’t believe her ears. In her heart, Kenshin was always the strongest. She would have never thought that there would be such a little boy who would be stronger than him.
“No, he isn’t. And it's not about fighting strength, it's about the diversity and power of the skill. What I am saying that his skill is many times powerful than my skills, making him undetectable even to me, that’s what I am trying to say.”
“Oh! I see. It's like having an advanced oven, but the user didn’t have the skills to use it and hence couldn’t measure up to a veteran using a normal one…hmm…I understand.” Mrs. Yui gave a strange example and nodded her head in understanding.
“I don’t really get the analogy, but I am glad that you understood.” Kenshin sighed in relief.

“So, what are you going to with him?” she asked looking at the boy who was being forced to wear a princess outfit by her daughter. She unconsciously curled her lips into a thin smile. This daughter of hers, she was really…she didn’t find any words to explain her. It's okay if she wanted to be an elder sister, but this was just pushing the limits. At the same time, she was glad that she didn’t have a boy younger to her in her home or he would have been really pitiful.
Getting curious, he looked back and couldn’t help but sweat at the scene in front of him. The boy was now wearing a white princess outfit, complete with a silver crown atop his head. Though due to him crouching, the elegance was totally lost. Though the thing which made him really angry was that this boy wasn’t struggling with the dress, he was wearing, which was the exact opposite to how he acted when he made him dress a few hours ago.
‘Did this boy has some exotic tastes?’ He couldn’t help but wonder. Or else why would he agree to wear a princess dress out of free will. Even five years old boys would disdain to wear those girly clothes. Unable to look at him any longer, he averted his eyes and turned around.
“What? Don’t like the new look of him? I don’t think he dislikes it that much.” Mrs Yui teased when she saw Kenshin’s dreaded face. Despite looking like a mature boy, Kenshin was unusually childish in certain matters. Although he would act like nothing matters, he would still silently throw a tantrum when things didn’t go his own way.
She was a mother herself, she could understand these subtle signs of him. It would always amuse her whenever she saw him silently throwing a tantrum. Just like now, where he acts like it didn’t matter, but his eyebrows were furrowed. Mrs. Yuki was sure that he would definitely try to persuade him to not wear those girly clothes when he went home that night. She was really looking forward to what kind of face he will be making the next day.

At this time, inside Kaio’s mansion.
Kaio was still sleeping. The doctor made him sleep using medicines. All of his internal organs were unhinged and bruised so it would take some time for heal. But the pain was unbearable to him, that’s why the doctor had to make him sleep.
The elegant lady, who was his legal wife couldn’t bear to look at him like that and doubled her effort to find out about the man who injured him. Till now, despite using all her connections, she couldn’t find a damn thing about him except what is visible to the public. Even the DCB wasn’t willing to share his information.
“What the hell is happening here? Who the hell is this man? Why can't we find anything about him?” the lady raged loudly, smashing a face in the process. The loud noise made everyone present in the drawing room flinch.
“Madam, I think his information was intentionally hidden for some reason. we shouldn’t pry into this matter anymore.” An old butler said while wiping away sweat from his brows. He was terrified of this temperamental madam. There was no guarantee what she would do when she was angry. From childhood from now, she had never eaten the loss in anything. Due to her background, everything happened according to her wishes. Now such a madam was eating losses one after another when his husband was beaten to be like how he was today. How couldn’t her pride handle this?
The old butler was very knowledgeable in worldly affairs. He knew how the system works, if someone’s information were to be hidden like this, there must be an underlying reason behind that. Offending such a person wasn’t a good idea. There were some people for whom DCB had gone great lengths to make their files hidden from the public so that other super guilds couldn’t approach them. For that kind of people, the government was ready to lose an arm and a leg to make them loyal.
How could the Kawakuchi family be comparable to a person like that?
Unfortunately, nobody listens to him. A calamity was destined to befall on this family sooner or later.
The butler was right about everything except one thing, the calamity will appear sooner than he thinks, sweeping away hundreds of years of history of this family, leaving everything in dust.
