155. Homecoming

-Vol 5: A New Life-

-Homecoming!-

After returning to the temporary tent, Kenshin immediately went for the resting area and took a long nap there. He had been on edge for all this time and needed a nice relaxing sleep. The day later he met all other guys whom he had seen on his first day here, except Natasha. She seemed to have returned to her home that morning. He also found that yesterday a huge commotion was raised when the level 150 powerhouse returned to the base. Some of them were wounded, a few died, and the remaining were in perfect health.

During the night, the total death count was calculated, and it was found that 15 hunters had died including level 150 powerhouses. 5 hunters had gone insane due to some reasons, and seven were still missing. During the mourning event, those level 150 hunters who had seen the event had described it to everyone. The vividly explained about the horror of that arm that had tore opened the spatial tear. In fact, nearly everyone had seen that arm, but none of them had seen in details like these guys. They also explained how they ‘valiantly’ fought against it and pushed it back to where it came from. Due to their boasting, the event of shooting star didn’t come up and Kenshin, in turn, took a breath of relief.

Although being famous was a good thing, it would sometimes garner unnecessary attention, something he didn’t need at this moment. He had a sister, loved ones, their life might be at risk if he recklessly exposes himself. Not only he had to be wary of jealous humans, but also some hidden forces whom he might not be strong enough to take on yet. For this reason, only Kenshin didn’t believe that Aoi was the only one who had a Divine Skill in this world, and nor was she the first one. She was only revealed to the public because her background was huge, so huge that not even a country would dare to go against them. Hence she didn’t have to worry about possible dangers.

Although there were many more topics to gossip about, Kenshin didn’t care about them anymore. His priority laid somewhere else…

“Sister! I promise, nothing happened to me. I was just in a mission to the north and entered a no network zone. Yeah!!”

He was busy handling his hysteric sister who has called quite a few times(more than 100) already. Since he had put his phone in his inventory all this time, it was no wonder the network didn’t reach. Well..even if he put it in his pocket, the network still wouldn’t reach due to signal jamming fog.

“What! How did you know that? What? It was on the news for five days? Yeah. No, don’t worry nothing happened to me. I am perfectly fine. Yeah! I am returning home today most probably. Yeah.” After talking to her, Kenshin felt like he just had a round with a boss monster in the dungeon. Is dealing with little sisters are this tiring? Kenshin wanted to ask this question over the internet.

After that, he received a call from Suguro and Miss Yui respectively, asking about his status. Apparently, they had also felt the effect of that arm’s descent. After explaining his situation to them, he finally got some time for himself. His return was scheduled to tonight’s last helicopter, he got the whole day for himself in here. Thinking about how he should spend his entire day, Vera’s figure came to his mind.

‘come to think of it, I haven't seen her for three days.’ Thinking of such, he walked towards one of the offices inside the DCB tent.

“What? She had already left? With her parents!” it was a shock to him to learn that she had left with her parents, she had never mentioned about her them. Two people whom he had known better than others here had already left, he didn’t know anyone else here.

“What the hell would I do now?” as he was contemplating about what should he do now, suddenly his phone vibrated again. his brows nearly jumped into his hairline when he saw the caller.

In a place far away from the very cave where the events took place, and the place where the fight with Ade’el and the hunters took place, a white cloaked figure who was covered from head to toe looked silently towards the smoking the remains of the cave he just reduced to particles.

“That halfbreed seem to have failed. Damn! What should I say to my superiors now? Goddamit! That bastard, I am going to skin that halfbreed alive and pill his skin layer by layer.” The cloaked figure couldn’t help but curse Ade’el. After the event, Ade’el had hidden so well that not even his senses could find his whereabouts. It was as if he had already left this world and ran away somewhere else. It could only happen if someone really did so or had entered a dungeon. His sensing skills didn’t work if someone inside a dungeon.

“Hmph! How far you run? My mark is already in your veins. I will find you sooner or later.” As he spoke, a mass of purple miasma came out from his behind before enveloping completely. When the food vanished, the cloaked man nowhere to be seen. The only thing left was a patch of purple smoking ice where the man stood and a set of a footstep that belong to a skeleton.

It begged the question, who or what was that man?

Looking back towards the vast whiteness that was The North Pole, Kenshin couldn’t help but remember many things. The most memorable thing for him would be that one time he had died. If not for his system’s extra lives, he would not have sitting here marvelling about his past few days. But death wasn’t the only thing happened to him. He had also gained a divine skill for himself that was powerful enough to take out enemies forty or fifty levels higher than his.

Although regarding family background he couldn’t compare to Aoi, by virtue of strength alone, he was somewhat close to her. Or he might have already surpassed her regarding strength. But he didn’t delve in it anymore, she and he were living in two different worlds. Meeting her on one fine day suddenly-this scenario wouldn’t be happening with him, so there was no need for him to think about it. But he did consider of one day going to her and thank her for her save that day.

If possible, he would like to pay her back somehow, but for now, he couldn’t think about anything. Being indebted wasn’t something he liked at all. He never liked keeping others debts running, it would better to pay them as soon as possible. The debt he owed to Aoi was too big to be paid by words alone.

The huge armoured helicopter only had him as a passenger, the same way he came. From here he would be travelling to Russia base, from there with the help of a private plane, he would be returning to Japan. All this service were provided by DCB alone, he didn’t have to pay a single penny for all this.

Kenshin was a lot more excited this time to return. The system had given him five hundred million gold coins after completing his third compulsory mission. He wanted to return to Japan and check out his passbook if the money had really transferred to the back as per system’s notification.

It's not that he didn’t believe system, it's just that the amount was too huge for him to think straight.
