101. Third mission!

-Vol 4: To The North Pole!-

  -3rd Compulsory Mission!-

Vera showed no visible reaction to what Kenshin did, but in her heart, she was delighted with his show of prowess so far. He was not a wimp, and able to live up to his reputation.

As they both entered through the door, a dark hallway greeted them. Though none of them bothered about the darkness, they still minded their steps and increased their alert levels. As hunters at a very high level, they already had night vision. To them, the dark of the night was no different than daylight.

At the same time, Kenshin was carefully inspecting the map, ready to act in case of any sudden appearances.

With calculated steps, both Vera and Kenshin moved forward. Even for Vera, it was her first time coming here. She didn’t know anything and hence had to find her way around.

“Kenshin, we must be alert here. I don’t know much about this place, but I have seen the map of the insides and remembered the important pathways. You have to just follow me.” Vera said.

“Okay, I understand leader.” Kenshin agreed, in any case, it was a good idea to follow her instead of blindly following his map. Although it shows everything in a 3d view, there was still something he didn’t understand about this place.

Besides, even if he had to follow map blindly, he couldn’t possibly explain it to Vera. His only option was to feign ignorance and follow her around.

Just as he was about to follow her, suddenly his expressions darkened. The reason for that being the blue box that was floating in front of him.

[Compulasory Mission 03: Stop The Summoning Of Algor, The 5th Servant]

[Duration: 7 Days]

[Rewards]

1. 2 Lives

2. 500,000,000 G

3. A Devine Skill

[Failure: Mass Destruction]

The fuck!!!

Something very hazardous came out.

He didn’t know who this Algor was, but from the rewards alone he was sure that it most likely a supremely powerful being who can extinguish his pitiful life in an instant. At this moment, Kenshin really wanted to chokeslam the system if he could. Does it think he was all-powerful? He couldn’t even hold a candle against the squid that came out before, how did it expect him to stop someone of that calibre?

Even though it was just stopping the summoning, but what about the summoner? He or she wouldn’t sit idly and allow him to mess up everything now, would they? Besides, for someone who was capable of summoning such a being that the system had to warn him, how strong he/she might be?

Would he even succeed?

The rewards, although they are something he didn’t want to miss, he had to be alive for it to enjoy. Even with his 2 extra lives, he had no confidence in completing the task. But looking at the failure condition, he couldn’t help be worried.

Mass destruction!

This Algor was strong enough to cause mass destruction! If so, then this time the humans were indeed in peril.

What would he do?

As Kenshin was thinking about these troublesome things, Vera was doing her best to navigate through the confusing place they were in.

XXX

Several kilometres away from the cave entrance, a hooded person was standing and observing Kenshin and Vera entering. The back of his/her cloak had a golden skull symbol.

The hooded figure watched silently as Vera and Kenshin entered the place before moving. His/her figure flashed several times before he/her found himself in the gates of the entrance, but he/she didn’t enter. Instead, he/she sat near the door as if to guard it.

A delicate hand revealed from within the cloak as it patted the ground lightly. There was no reaction for sometime before a tiny crack appeared on where he/she patted. Then the crack expanded and formed a hole, big enough to enter one’s pinky.

From within the hole, a white snake like thing wriggled out. When the whole body of it came out, a flash of white shone as it transformed into a tiny rabbit. It shook the head and freed itself of all the snow before facing the hooded figure.

“Dammit! Lady Lyda, you have to take revenge for me. That bitch!! She cut me without mercy, it was excruciating!!” with a whiny voice of a child, the tiny critter complained to the hooded figure while addressing in a very respectful manner. At the same time, its blue eyes trembled as if it was on the verge of crying.

“First you get defeated by that little girl, and now you have the gall to complain me? don’t you have any shame?” a very feminine and soft voice of a lady came out from within the cloak.

“But lady, I never thought her to be this powerful! You got to take revenge for me!” the tiny rabbit whined even more.

The lady’s hand flashed as she slapped the rabbit in its head, sending it flying.

“Shut up you dumb racoon!! How dare you order me? What I do and what I don’t is nothing to do with you. I gave you one task, and you have failed miserably on it, now you are whining! One more word and I will roast you here and now, then eat you.” The lady threatened the critter.

“Hiii!!! I am a sorry lady. I wouldn’t dare to do it again. But I am very frustrated.” The rabbit pleaded like a miserable person as it clung into the lady’s covered legs.

“Hmph! Get out of my face!” with a small shout she kicked the rabbit away again. Then she looked at the entrance.

“I have never expected to meet an upper-echelon member this soon! If she finds ‘that’ chamber then it would be very troublesome. I need to do something.” she started to mutter silently while thinking of the possibilities.

There was a certain secret in this place, and she was in charge of guarding it. Spies outside told her that there would only be average levelled hunters participating in this mission. But unexpectedly there was a high ranking official mixed in the crowd. It was an awful thing for her and her group. If her group had to face them unprepared, they would suffer a terrible defeat, and all their actions up to now would be for nought.

“I had to warn them as soon as possible.” Making her mind, she looked for the rabbit she had just kicked and summoned it again.

“I have an important business for you. Go to every stationed member and warn them of the possible officials mixing among these hunters. tell them to not underestimate anyone.”

“At once my lady.” The rabbit seemed to have forgotten it’s rough treatment earlier and instantly patted its furry chest to complete the task.

“Just go!!” the lady kicked it flying again. But instead of falling down, a white light enveloped it before transforming into a snow-white bird. Giving out a cry, the bird then flew away with astonishing speed.

“Hmph! Damn racoon!”
