Chapter 117 — Results Of The Battle

Results Of The Battle

Several tens of kilometers away from the maximum perimeter that the outposts have over their territory.

...In one of the many sides of the far-away open fields near the Little Lake, a large group of ragged, dispirited and hopeless wearing a brown-colored variety of robes as they walked towards a certain place a bit ahead. And from that place, which was mostly empty, it was incredibly large, as it was but a temporary encampment that was capable of housing several hundred thousand troops for even weeks.

But just a few hundred meters away from the group of thousands who still had quite some distance before arriving there, a young man and a young girl were watching them walk towards them in a general direction from the top of a tree’s branch that was almost 400 meters tall yet had a very thin diminutive diameter of its trunk in comparison.

“Will we finally go back, now Elder Brother? It looks like we, um…mm.” The young girl, with creamy golden skin, blonde and just 1.4 meters tall cutest young one in the world of the young man’s eyes and head said, before leaning her head over his right forearm and grunting a little, not liking what she herself was saying and so keeping quiet with a little pout instead.

Holding his right hand with her left one, she held the rest of his arm where her head wasn’t taking so much space from and remained quiet for a bit, the sun was now coming out, and it looked beautiful. But she knew that her elder brother wasn’t feeling any way good.

“Thank you, Katherina. It’s all okay, I will deal with it. Go hide for a little. Try not to take a look, but if you do… Well then, that’ll mean you are becoming more brave.” Kinski said after a few seconds of looking towards the still dark sky above the dispirited cult believer’s hunched and tired backs.

“Mn,” feeling a bit better with herself and promising in her heart to watch and not cower anymore for the sake of helping her elder brother further in the future, little Katherina nodded and gave a quick tight hug to her elder brother’s waist before jumping away into a higher branch on another tree, covering her little body with the tree’s trunk and watching from afar before another man arrived…

Whoosh, plank- tap tap. Thud.

“... Sir, please forgive us! Please forgive me!!” A man came quickly kneeling on the branch that Kinski is on, kneeling one second later with his knees painfully landing on the branch, not daring to use his 2,000 kg strength and only using 1,000 kg. One reason being that he didn’t dare put such an act on Kinski’s view and the other being that the branch itself would break if he did.

“...” But all that Kinski did was to look down at this man’s eyes with his cloud-dark eyes, not offering any word, emotion, pity, or comfort from this seemingly sorry and ‘found’ man. On the other hand, the more silence there was, the more the man felt he was doomed.

With a voice that expressed with more sincerity his fear, trepidation, and of how much he was sweating right now despite the tiredness as if he was an ordinary person and the inability to sweat due to a severe lack of any kind of strength left inside, the man implored once more. “Sir, please, sir!”

“Sir now? No longer just ‘boss, this,’ or ‘boss, that’? Hm? Umm?” With his last nostrils sounds along with his lips being in a higher tone, each time he pronounced them, the man on his knees looked a bit more up until he was with terrified eyes, looking at Kinski’s face not daring to meet his eyes still unlike before whenever there was such meetings that he acted not that good towards the big boss of this whole mission…

“You tell me, where are the hundreds of thousands of lives that were sent here? That I didn’t authorize to be mobilized? That was sent away into battle by you?” Kinski asked the man on his knees. The latter could only begin trembling as he began lowering his head to in-between Kisnki’s feet, not daring to utter even a word but already sobbing like a child yet as an adult.

Kinski didn’t stop there, and with a tap of his right foot to the man’s left side of his head. He continued. “Where are they? You lost them. You lost them all. They are now all under the Self-Mutilating Honores Sect’s commander, the stronger they’ve had since decades ago! You’ve delivered them all there just because you thought it would be enough?!”

“My fault, yes, it was all my fault!!” The man on his knees roared out sobbingly, his voice somewhat muffled as he kept sobbing with his face against the tree branch. “I shouldn’t have done that. I now know! I didn’t want to lose nor to oppose you, sir. It’s just that there was a great chance for victory!”

“As for that commander, the so-called amazing and new General of their sect,” but suddenly, the voice of the man on his knees changed…becoming quite venomous, to say the least. It was that commander’s fault for him losing anyways… “According to the last communication with their traitorous bunch of idiots, the bribed enemies of the commander had successfully led him to an ambush… He is done for, sir!”

“...You wasted such an opportunity to kill a commander…just because you wanted my merit?” Kinski didn’t even react but his voice, which was not quiet, began to make the man on his knees feel as if his ears were about to, any time now, rupture with so much trembling.

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang…

“You’ve lost several hundreds of thousands of my men and women, and you got nothing in exchange!! Not even half their numbers. You were more than them! You were prepared this time, and we even had so much intelligence gathered, so how could your taking of my name and word result in such obvious failure?! You bag of shit!” Kinski furiously shouted, in a low volume, while striking the man’s back of his head with the sole of his right foot.

“Piss off,” Kinski said after turning around, but whether it was to the man on his knees or himself, only he and an actually little someone else knew. As he turned around and walked a few steps away, the man on his knees lifted his head, a dumb, tiny smile on his face as he looked in ridicule at the ‘boss’ that had gone too soft.

Stomp, stomp, stomp.

“...!” But then, to the man’s utter terror, he felt the presence of 3 ‘beings’ which were the most terrifying things the cult has had for a long time, that many thought it was just with luck that this Kinski ‘boss’ had gained them with and couldn’t even bring himself to use them in any way.

“...AAAAAAAH!” Looking behind him, the man directly felt terror creep into his heart, brain, and ‘soul’. He immediately shouted as this animal had nothing else to do in reaction to what he saw. And just when he screamed, the tree branch began to bounce while the sounds of their ‘steps’ continued to ring on and on.

“Please, Kinski, I’ll swear loyalty to you!! I’ll obeeey yoouuu!” The man on his knees begged, not finding strength in them to stand up and run away…it wouldn’t be possible anyway when it came to these kinds of monsters that even the pastor or pastoress of the cult had always been fearful of every time a new one or a new batch of them came to light.

But, all that Kinski had to offer were some ‘goodbye’ words and an excuse for ‘firing’ this bad employee. “It is true that I might have gone soft, so begging can work. However, Wan Zhu, you have gone against the rules and acted without discipline, even daring to take my name for granted, using it however you please. And that, Wan Zhu, is something nobody can be forgiven for.”

“Noooooooooooo…” Wan Zhu, the old man on his knees, shouted out as a large, putrid blue large hand with strange wide, and thick human claws with a sharp edge in the middle at the end, grabbed his head from behind, and slowly lifted him in the air. Then, the nice and tender sounds of flesh tearing as if having found a new toy to play with - began resounding even tens of meters away…

“...Except for my Little Kathy,” Kinski muttered under his breath, then as if remembering to say something, he looked up, and with his mouth remaining open for a few seconds, he shouted with his mouth upwards. “Katherine, that is enough. Come here.”

“Here I come~!!” Little Katherine’s voice sounded from a bit far away. She then jumped far away and arrived before Kinski, amazing the elder brother with her little talent as he whistled and patted her head lovingly and softly for a few seconds.

Later on, they began walking back towards the camp along with the dispirited troops. Katherine was a bit silent but not traumatized, holding her elder brother’s right hand to her chest and walking alongside him. The sight of her alone was already cheering the troops up, but her cuteness and the way she made their boss look all so cute were evermore calming and relaxing for them.

. . .

In another faraway place near the Little Lake… Where even fewer groups of thousands could return, and at most it could be said that several hundred came back after the battle.

Step, step, step, step, step…

“...Why didn’t they return?” After a long time of seeing these people moving towards the camp, arriving before him and with so much difficulty walking in front of the camp, Niloi asked the one and only Conflagrate realm acting elder that returned, the weakest one at the 1st stage of that realm and who had a haggard and overly complicated face when facing their actual boss.

“...They all died to the cannons’ firepower.” The strongest man within the encampment said, in defeat, feeling like he had failed the world as there was too much shame in his eyes that forced him to look down and not even dare to see Niloi’s eyes.

“The ambush wasn’t a success, then? Did everything fuckin failed today?” Niloi asked once more, his eyes harsh alright, and the disciples behind the acting elder couldn’t help feeling worse in this situation. But the acting elder complied this time, a rare thing and his next set of words made Niloi really furious this time around. “No, that worked well. Their so-called ‘commanding vehicle' was drawn away somewhere far away from the battlefielñd, and the firepower didn’t come from that direction.”

“So, everything in terms of preparation went well, but you all just fucked it up?” Cocking his head a little to the right, Niloi endured his fury and sarcastically remembered the choice of these troops, all whose deaths were in the majority, and not even ‘many thousands’ returned from the frightful defeat.

“...” - “...” - “...” And the acting elder and the disciples, who were reminded that they chose to listen to the strong ones instead of their actual boss, felt their hearts drop as their heads were already too low. They looked at the dirt without any life in their eyes. But nobody said anything. They didn’t dare, and it was then that Niloi let it all out, with tranquility.

“Give me a reason why I should let you rest inside.”

“!!” - “?!” - “Niloi, you can’t do that!” - “We have the right to sleep in our tents!” - “That’s right, you can’t do that no matter what! You’re not our parents. Piss off Niloi!”

“·ENOUGH!” The acting elder barked backwards at them, not even turning his head to look at the people around in the camp already standing up and ready to ‘quell’ these noisy people that would not let them sleep at night if they are ‘taken care of’ beforehand.

Putong.

The acting elder fell to his knees, took a top notch quality knife out, and infused it with all the Power Energy he had in his storage, to the point that the top notch quality knife even began cracking open and breaking apart, little by little.

“With this, I hope that it is enough to give these idiots the punishment they deserve…but to also let them into your camp once again.” Saying that the acting elder drove that knife into his stomach, making a path from it to his chest, through his neck upwards, until finally arriving at his face and making a deep long cut from his stomach up to his glabella.

“!...” That was the moment all the other disciples behind the acting elder became confused and scared shitless. Without the strongest one as their backer, how could they have dared to speak to Niloi like that just now? Let alone before! So, they looked at Niloi, expecting this weaker, foolish young man to forgive their backer and feel relieved, before entering their tents to get a good 1 week-long sleep as much as they liked - again.

“Kill yourself already is the only way I won’t be killing all of these for treason,” Niloi said, practically indifferently, gazing at the acting elder’s eyes and not hesitating at the moment for a single bit.

“...ugh…kah,” the acting elder looked up at Niloi one more time…before directly plunging the knife into his head at the glabella. The cultivation of a Conflagrate realm was first dissipated, the only possible way that it could happen, followed by the life coming out of the acting elder’s body.

“...hmph~~,” Niloi looked at the lifeless body directly falling to the ground, his chest being truly relieved of all fury, as he then looked at the disciples in front and ordered at least a few tens of thousands of men and women to get to it. “Imprison them. You already know which to take to the execution square and which to interrogate. Get on with it.”

“Yes, sir!” - “Yes, sir.” - “Right away, sir!” - “Right away, sir.”

There was only such a way for someone’s cultivation to be crippled altogether by breaking both links. Only then can such a thing happen. As for those below the Link Consolidation realm, their cultivation was practically depending on them, so it didn’t matter if they were to be crippled of their cultivation, and only by losing their ability to cultivate by either being too old or having relied on something or someone to do so when there was no need of help would their stages and realms slowly be lost.

Now, as Niloi watched the disciples with rough faces giving him glares and his own men and women, also disciples of the sect but stronger and almost all of the Spirit Gathering realm, with a few portions being at the Phrenic realm, he so missed his sweet Helala right now…

. . .

At yet another but also one of the 3 temporary encampments set rather near but still so far away from the Little Lake…

“M’lady Saint, we’ve returned. It… was a crushing defeat… I am to blame!...” A haggard, cute young woman with dark green color brought her slender left hand to her chest and bowed before ending in a kneeling position with a grave voice and ashamed tone and face.

Taking the papers in her hands, a young woman with clear white skin, pale blue hair, and quite tall about 1.82 meters tall with clear gray eyes, and another with bright blonde hair, slightly smaller in height with white skin and light brown eyes read the papers together. Once they were done reading them, they slowly lifted their faces and looked at each other with big, round eyes.

“...What do you think… Of who was the one to command this battle on their side? That Ciemnosc or them?” The one with the pale blue hair, the matriarch of his group in the mission for taking the outpost, stronghold, and port in the name of the Preferential Light Justice Sect named Lena, asked the woman kneeling with her left arm in front of her chest.

“M-yes, Saint.” The cutie responded, not lifting her face before continuing, “Though the other commanders have been the ones commanding the battle all along, and only the southern outpost had its first defensive barrier broken, their distribution of troops had always been somewhat quirky, only getting better as weeks went by and by… Now these numbers, though a bit systematic, they…ended up minimizing their overall number of casualties, Saint.”

“I see. You can leave, bring these people to rest. Punishments can be distributed quirkily later on,” Lena said, while the blonde beside her, Yeri, maintained her silence and let the matriarch speak her orders however she wished.

Then, the cutie went away with the rest of the several thousands of other such saints following after her back into their temporary encampment, which they spent quite some resources in, including for arrays just to make it snowy-like and very cold, like their home back in the north.

“...Sigh, those damnable Eagerburning Flames Sect…they’ll pay!” Lena clenched her fists, and once everyone went inside the encampment, she finally let them become loose before sighing out loud, showing this vulnerability to only Yeri, who was like a devout sister beside her.

Grabbing her left arm and placing it on the middle of her body from her breasts to her inner thighs, Yeri then spoke to Lena softly close to her left ear, “We have to first focus on our own people, nor we or they would be able to make any other offensive in a long time. In fact, Saint Lena, why don’t we just think about it more… About the words of the Sect Master?”

“... He is, indeed…quite the character, I think.” Lena was becoming annoyed, knowing there would be nothing to do against this man and his powerful army, powerful armored cars, and powerful and capable commanders to fight without him proceeding over every little thing. Then said, with a sigh that raised even Yeri’s eyebrows quite, “I guess discussing a peace talk with him wouldn’t be bad if that can make our sect and their sect allies in the future, without any bullshit and with there being equality and not a subservience like they’ve asked in the past…perhaps.”

“...Saint Lena, do yo-” Yeri tried talking to her about the doubts she just ‘felt’ from Lena and ‘that’ Ciemnosc. But Lena stopped her with a right index finger tapping in the middle of her lips. “He’s a capable man, but we are injured little saints. Let’s first get our defeated, afflicted ladies the time they need to rest. Still, ask for the same amount of reinforcements to the sect…but do not put any more urgency nor any hastiness to the matter… Yes, that will tell the sect master…that I’ve thought about it…well.”

“He is…something, hmm, alright.” Walking away into the nearby little pieces of snow around the encampment’s outer perimeter, Lena murmured, but Yeri still heard it. After going slightly ‘:o’, Yeri shook her head before going back into the encampment. For anywhere near the encampment, even Conflagrate realm cultivators in the early stages would fear Lena like no one else.
