Spirit says "No. The ship is my body, without it I would have no purpose. I am well aware of your feelings about slavery and that is part of why I am willing to call you my master."
"Alright, but I just want to make sure you are aware that I will not always be on the ship. It would be best if you didn't attach yourself to only me."
Spirit says "I don't plan to attach myself to anyone. Keep in mind that I am the spirit of a tree, I don't need anyone. Besides, just being able to move around and see new things is already miraculous."
"That's good. I wouldn't want you to be trapped into a miserable situation. Especially since I am basically responsible for you becoming sentient."
Spirit says "Yes, you are, and I will always be grateful to you for that. I may be new to sentience, but I find myself completely content with my new situation. Now that I can walk around and speak to people, I feel that it will be even better."
"As long as you are happy, then it is fine, but if that changes don't be afraid to tell me. I will do what I can to help you."
Spirit says "Don't you already have enough women to take care of?"
"What do you mean by that?"
Spirit says "The ship is my body, and I am aware of everything that happens in my body, everything."
"Oh, um. I'm sorry."
Silverstream says "Wow, Ash. I've never seen you blush like that! Just what have you been up to?"
"None of your business!"
Silverstream says "Haha! I didn't know that you could act shy! It's actually really cute!"
Spirit says "I'm sorry, master. I didn't mean to embarrass you."
"It's fine. Although, from now on I think it would be better if you were blind to my private room."
Spirit says "Understood, master."
Silverstream says "No, wait. I want to know what goes on in there!"
"You want to know what goes on between me and Lin behind closed doors? In that case you should ask Lin."
Silverstream says "Um, on second thought, I probably don't want to know."
"Good answer."
Spirit says "I don't really understand what is going on. Can you explain this to me?"

"I'll leave that conversation to Silverstream. I am still trying to think of the right name for you."
Spirit says "Oh, that reminds me. Why didn't you eat the fruit I gave you? It took a lot of effort to make it."
"I didn't know that it was for me. I thought it was to help the seed grow."
Spirit says "No. You already know what to do to help the seed grow, the same you did for me. The fruit was meant as a thank you for everything you did for me."
"Oh. I wish you had told me that when you gave it to me."
Spirit says "You still have it don't you? I hope you didn't lose it."
"Yes, I still have it. I have kept it safe with the seed the entire time."
Spirit says "That's good. In fact, it will be of even more benefit to you now than it would have when I gave it to you."
"What is it going to do?"
Spirit says "It is a blessing that I can only bestow once in my life. It will help you grow stronger and possibly help you on your path of evolution."
"That's awesome! So, should I eat it now? Oh, wait. If it works on current strength I should wait until I stop growing stronger, right?"
Spirit says "You could eat it now, but if you are still getting stronger then waiting will increase the effects."
"In that case, I will wait. I still have ways of growing stronger on my own. At least now I know what it is for. Thank you."
Spirit says "I'm sorry that I didn't explain it sooner. I didn't think it needed explaining. A gift of fruit is a part of elven culture so I thought you would know about it."
Silverstream says "It may have been different in the past. With us, a gift of fruit is a part of courtship."
Spirit says "Oh! No, that is not how I meant it!"
"Relax, that is not what it means to me either. In my culture an offer of fruit is nothing more than a friendly gesture of sharing food."
Silverstream says "All the girls that you have accepted fruit from are going to be really disappointed to hear that."
"I thought they just wanted to get close and pet my fur."
Silverstream says "No, they wanted far more than that."
"You could have warned me!"
Silverstream says "I guess that means it is up to me to spread the bad news and tell all those girls that you just like snacks!"
"Oh, go offer some fruit to Stillwater!"
Silverstream's entire face turns bright red, which is not the reaction I was expecting. However, before I can ask about it she rushes off of the bridge just as fast as she can. It looks like there is definitely something going on, but I will not try to find out what.
My curiosity does not extend to other people's relationships, which I am glad of. I have enough on my plate to deal with without sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. However, I will totally tell Lin about it, she will probably be curious and find out for me.
Now, I still need to come up with a fitting name for the spirit, but I am drawing a blank. I know plenty of names, but finding one that fits the spirit of a ship isn't easy. She is the spirit of a tree and technically is already ancient, but she doesn't look it.
So, I want a name that fits both wisdom and youth, but she is also a warship now thanks to me. The only name I can think of would be Athena, goddess of wisdom and war. It would be fitting, but I don't know if using a goddess from mythology would be a good idea.
Not that anyone in this world would recognize the name or know what it means. However, in this world deities are real and that makes me hesitant to use the name of a goddess from my world. It is silly, but I am worried the deities here would somehow know and be offended.
Not that I haven't already offended them plenty and will probably continue to do so. Although I have given up on the avatar hunting idea for now, I'm sure I will find other ways to offend them. Since that is the case, even if the name does offend them, it doesn't really matter.
"Alright, I think I have the right name for you now. I am going to name you for a goddess from my old world, Athena. She was a goddess of both wisdom and war which seems fitting for you as you are now. What do you think?"
