Ep. 726 Beneath the Volcano Part 15

Besides, it would be a real waste to not steal the energy for my own uses. Thinking of that, I should probably use some of the energy for other improvements while I still can. I would like to raise my intelligence and mana pool a few more times.

Other than that I also want to see if I can figure out how to raise the level of soulscape with the energy. That is difficult to figure out since the soulscape doesn't have a physical representation. However, I do have an idea that I think might work, so I fill up on energy and retreat to meditate.

Once I am in the meditation room I create a soulscape but don't enter into it. This leaves an entrance in the meditation room that I should be able to move an energy orb to. Hopefully, this will allow me to level up the skill, so I try it right away.

*DING*

Congratulations! Skill Soulscape has progressed to level 9!

Soulscape

Level: 9

Wis +45

You can create a very detailed soulscape.

'Great! It actually worked!!'

Soulscape is really difficult to level up, but I've been wanting to max it out since the dragon told me about it. I really want to level up my soul level, it might even help with the healing process. So, I move another energy orb to it, but the skill doesn't level up, so I keep adding energy until it does.

*DING*

Congratulations! Skill Soulscape has progressed to level 10!

Soulscape

Level: 10 (MAX)

Wis +50

You can create a world within the soulscape.

In the end, it took another ten Origin Energy, but it is finally maxed out so it was worth it. However, now is not the time to go in and start playing around with it. So, I add another energy orb to my psyche and two to my mana organ.

Intelligence +100!

Mana +500!

Mana +500!

After that I stop, I was going to do more but my body starts hurting a little bit. It would seem that there is a limit to the amount of changes in a short period of time. So, with the rest of the energy I go back to healing the cracks on my soul.

Since I can't really think of anything else to try I just stick to healing my soul as a way to use up energy. Of course, I could just leave, but every undead I kill is one less energy for the maker. Since it was my curiosity that led to this I feel somewhat responsible for cleaning it up.

Speaking of my curiosity, it is currently at war with itself, it wants to see the maker but at the same time it wants to explore the soulscape. In the end, I decide to do both, the soulscape can wait until after I see the maker. At the rate the crack is widening it shouldn't be too much longer before the maker shows itself.

So, I focus on gathering as much energy as I can get before that happens. The only time I stop is when I can't hold anymore, and only long enough to use it on my soul. It is getting harder and harder to pull small groups of undead to kill because of the increased numbers.

Luckily, I can still heal using Sacred Touch, although now it uses mana instead of sacred power. If it wasn't for that I would have to risk using divine power to heal myself. I still have my regen, but larger groups of undead do more damage than it can handle quickly.

Since I have been repairing my soul I might not have to worry about using divine power. However, it is better to be safe than sorry, so I will wait until I am told it is okay. Until then, I will make do with using mana to heal myself, it still works just fine.

It would be a problem if my mana pool was still small, but it is over five thousand now. As long as I pay attention and don't run out, it is more than enough for healing. If I were blasting my way through all the undead with spells that would be a different story.

Since I am just using the warhammer, so that I can collect energy, it isn't a problem. Even going against larger groups of undead just means the fights take longer and I take more damage. It isn't so bad when I am out of energy, but when I have energy I attract a lot more undead.

By this point I am sure that they can somehow sense the Origin Energy and want to take it back. Either that or the energy just makes me look really tasty to them. It has gotten bad enough that I am not even able to reach the base of the mountain.

The crack now looks more like a canyon going up the side of the mountain. It probably won't be much longer before the maker finally shows itself. Once it does I will take a quick look and then gate out of here right away.

Whatever the maker is, it is way out of my league, I am not even going to try and fight it. All I want is to see what it is just in case I have to do something about it later. Well, that and to satisfy my curiosity of course, but it is better if I don't admit that.

Especially since I am supposed to be working on controlling my curiosity more. At least with Brightfire and Nala already on the other island I am not endangering anyone but myself. If something were to happen to me they should be able to get back to the elves without me.

Although, the elves will be in a lot more danger without me, so I need to stay alive. Of course, I always plan on staying alive, but you never know what might happen. Just as I am thinking that, there is a rumble and the entire island starts to shake.

When I look up at the mountain I can see pieces of it breaking off of the top and falling away. It looks like the seal has finally failed and I am going to get to see the maker soon. For now, even more undead are coming out of the mountain as it breaks down.

The majority of them look to be death knights or something similar, not just skeletons and zombies. It makes sense that the closer to the maker they are buried the stronger they would be. I would like to kill some of them to see how much energy they have, but I can't get near them.

Besides, I don't want to be too close to the crack when the maker comes out. In fact, after filling up with energy again I start moving away from the mountain. If I need to get away quickly I want to have a head start, just in case.

Over the next few minutes the mountain continues to break down, freeing more undead. Some of them are much bigger, standing around fifteen feet tall, but still human looking. Maybe they are from a race of giants, it is hard to tell from this distance.

When the base of the mountain disintegrates it reveals five humanoid forms. They are four men and a woman, they all look human except for the white skin. It is the kind of white I would expect from an albino or someone who has never seen the sun.
