Ep. 754 The Voyage Begins Part 12

First I build a crows nest on the main mast just by moving around some density of the wood. Then I fly over to the fore mast and do the same before flying down to the deck. Next I build shielded archer platforms on both sides of the three weapon platforms.

Once those are done I add a few more at other areas of the ship, including the top deck. This way there should be a position available no matter what direction the enemy is coming from. Then I walk around talking to the elves doing the loading to see if they need anything.

They bring up yet another thing I didn't think of, internal walls to separate cabins. So, I go around doing that for the lower deck and the two upper decks. Of course, the biggest cabin is mine, so I set it up for me, Nala, and Albion.

Once that is done I ask around again, but this time no one has anything else they need. So, I go up to the top deck and try to decide what I want to make a fog machine out of. It doesn't need to be fancy, it just needs to be high enough quality for me to enchant it.

In the end, I just pull a horn out of my pouch and hollow it out then enchant it. This way someone just needs to blow it to summon or dismiss the fog bank. I don't even remember what beast I got the horn from, but it works just fine.

With that, everything that needs to be done for the ship should be done. Now all that is left is for the elves to load everything and get ready to leave. Since they don't need me for that, it should be fine for me to leave and take a look at the humans.

First I fly back to shore and let Stillwater know where I am going so they don't worry. Then I head across the mountains and head towards the human town. Before I get there I shapeshift into my eagle form so that I am less conspicuous.

Even then, I stay at the maximum distance that I can still see clearly from. I am playing it safe for the moment because I have no idea how good the avatar's senses are. I also have no idea if it has ranged attacks or magic, so I want to observe before getting closer.

It takes me over an hour of circling before I finally spot the avatar coming out of a building. He has to almost bend over to fit through a normal door, even then he has to squeeze through. Not only is he tall but he is also bulky, he has a lot of muscle on his frame.

Seronia says "Ash, what are you doing? Why do I feel a divine presence near you right now?"

"I am currently looking at an avatar. Can you tell me anything about it?"

Seronia says "It is not anyone I know, but I can tell you a little. His domains are War and Conquest. It is a primary avatar, meaning the god shares his senses. Anything that happens the god will know instantly."

"How strong would the avatar be?"

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

Seronia says "If the god only has the one primary avatar active then it will have fifty to sixty percent of the god's power. From what I can tell this is a greater god, meaning even at fifty percent you can't handle it."

"I get the feeling that an avatar being here isn't normal?"

Seronia says "No, absolutely not! For a god to send out a primary avatar there must be something major going on. It takes a lot of effort to create a primary avatar. My sister and I have never done it."

"I've seen you both create avatars?"

Seronia says "Those are just normal avatars, they have at most ten percent of our power. It only takes a single thought to create one."

"Oh, good to know. So, the humans must be planning something big for them to need an avatar?"

Seronia says "More than likely! But since I don't know anything about the god or his pantheon I can't even guess what it could be."

"My best guess based on the domains you told me would be the war against the orcs. I just can't imagine why they would need an avatar just for the orcs."

Seronia says "They shouldn't, not even a normal avatar."

"Then chances are that the avatar is here for me."

Seronia says "Probably. Unless they found a high rank monster or something similar."

"Alright, I am going to observe for a while and see if I can figure out what they are up to."

Seronia says "Be careful, the avatar will be able to sense your divine energy if you get close enough."

"How close?"

Seronia says "If it is paying attention, fifty feet. If it isn't, maybe a hundred feet."

"Alright, thanks!"

As I continue circling I start paying more attention to what the other humans are doing. I quickly notice that there are a lot more soldiers than last time I was here. They even have a camp with lots of tents south of the town for more soldiers.

After watching for a few hours I would guess there are at least ten thousand soldiers, maybe more. That is way too many just for dealing with the orcs, maybe I pissed them off a bit too much. After all, we did set their capital on fire as we were leaving, they probably want revenge.

They probably plan to deal with the orcs first and then come after the elves. Since I freed all the elven slaves it isn't hard for them to figure out I am with the elves. The human slaves I freed all saw me as an elven warrior so if any were captured that is what they would say.

We are almost ready to leave so the humans don't stand much chance of catching us. However, I don't really want to just leave the humans like this, especially the avatar. They have a navy so they could keep chasing us even after we leave the area.

"Krenocia, has Seronia told you what's going on?"

Krenocia says "Yes, why?"

"I just had a really evil idea, but it is something I will need permission for."

Krenocia says "I am afraid to even ask what the idea is! You should probably create a soulscape and tell both of us at once."

"Alright."

I turn and fly away from the town, once it is out of sigh I drop shapeshift. Then I continue flying in my normal form until I reach the mountains. Once I find a safe place I land, create a soulscape, and invite the goddesses.

Krenocia says "So, what idea is so evil that you are actually asking permission?"

"I want to set the maker loose on the humans."

Seronia says "What??!"

Krenocia says "You weren't kidding! That is a truly evil idea!"

Seronia says "No! I won't let you set the maker free! She would cause massive problems!"
