After dealing with that I turn my attention back to training the guards until dinner is ready. Based on their progress I think I can leave after one more day of helping them. Myria has already learned her routine and should be fine without any more help.
Still I tell her she has to train for one full week and then Kitara can help her learn meditation. Once she has that down she can resume the mage knight training. Kitara has made the most progress out of all the guards so she should have no problems teaching Myria.
It will be good experience for her before we send more beastmen to become mage knights. We will keep the first group small, maybe five beastmen to give her more experience. After that it will need to be bigger groups, the more we have by the war the better.
She will probably need to select a helper either from the guards or the first batch. Training a large group on her own would be rather difficult for Kitara. Not to mention it would slow down the training speed by quite a bit.
For the mage knights to be the army's trump card we are going to need a decent number of them. At least a few hundred, preferably more if we can manage it, a thousand would be awesome. I will just have to wait and see how it goes, and how long the demons take to invade.
Yui announces dinner is ready so we end the training and head for the dining room. Kitara joins us and starts asking me in depth questions about meditation. She is asking about things I didn't plan on teaching the guards but I answer her questions anyway.
There isn't any reason I can think of to deny her the knowledge she is seeking. While I wasn't the one who chose her for this position, Pol was and I trust him completely. So, not only do I answer her questions, but I also teach her the things she missed.
This continues throughout dinner and we continue talking even after Myria leaves with the kids. I only end the conversation when Myria is done with her exercise and the kids are worn out. In the morning Kitara joins us for breakfast, with yet more questions for me.
As we eat I answer her questions one by one, between mouthfuls of delicious food. Myria is trying to follow our conversation but she is obviously lost. After all, she hasn't gone through the basics yet, so this conversation is over her head.
So she turns back to her breakfast and tries to ignore our conversation. I am not too worried about it, Kitara will teach her this stuff when she is ready. The plan is to spend today training and then leave tomorrow, but Sarah showing up changes things.
"Sarah, what's up?"
Sarah says "I came to tell you that you have a guest at the inn."
"Oh? Who is it?"
Sarah says "She called herself your faithful servant!"
Myria says "She? Servant?"
"I don't recall having a servant, did she give a name?"
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
Sarah says "Her name is Muyaun."
Kitara yells "What?!?"
Myria says "Do you know who that is?"
Kitara says "Of course I do! She is the chieftain of the fox clan!"
Myria says "Ash, why is the chieftain of the fox clan calling herself your servant?"
"She has a rather strange personality, but I have no idea why she is calling herself my servant. She has sworn herself and her tribe to me."
Kitara says "She submitted?! I never thought she would ever submit to anyone!"
"She submitted to save her own life."
Kitara says "You were strong enough to threaten her life?!"
Myria says "Don't ever underestimate how strong Ash is."
"Did she say what she wants?"
Sarah says "She said she had some information you wanted."
"Alright, I guess I will go see what she wants."
Myria says "I am coming with you!"
"No, you have training to do."
Asuna says "Daddy, can I come?"
"Sure, Asuna."
Myria says "How come she gets to go and I don't?"
"Because she doesn't have any training to do, and because Muyaun is the same race as Asuna."
Myria says "That's not fair!"
"Like isn't fair, now go do your training!"
Myria says "Fine!" and storms out.
Sarah says "Are you sure that was a good idea?"
"No, but it is a better one than letting her meet Muyaun."
Sarah says "True, Muyaun just oozes sexuality. She would drive Myria insane with jealousy. Even if nothing is going on between the two of you."
"There is nothing going on between us! No way would I trust her that much!"
Sarah says "Good luck getting Myria to believe that! I guarantee she is grilling Kitara right now for everything she knows about Muyaun."
"You are probably right, but there is nothing I can do about it at this point."
Asuna says "Are we going?"
"Yeah, we may as well."
So we follow Sarah back to the teleporter, which gives Asuna a little trouble. It isn't made for a creature her size, she has to turn sideways to be able to fit through it. The fact that she doesn't complain and just forces her way through tells me she really wants to talk to Muyaun.
When we exit the teleporter Muyaun is sitting at the table eating some breakfast. Even sitting down she makes me think thoughts that Myria would kill me for. No matter what, I can't ever let the two of them meet, or someone is going to end up dead.
Muyaun says "Master!"
"I thought I told you not to call me that?"
Muyaun says "Sorry, Lord Ash."
Sarah says "Should I bring up some more breakfast?"
Asuna says "Yes, please!"
Sarah laughs and heads downstairs to arrange for more food while I sit down at the table. Muyaun keeps eating and Sarah soon returns with more food for us. It remains quiet as we all eat our fill, even Sarah sits down and eats with us.
"So, what news do you have for me, Muyaun?"
Muyaun says "I have found three tribes that can be convinced to submit fairly easily and one that can with a fight."
"Tell me."
Muyaun says "The rat, monkey, and lizard tribes will all submit to you simply for your protection. They are some of the weakest tribes but they have a lot of members."
"I already have Knarra contacting the rat tribe, can you contact the other two and set up meetings?"
Muyaun says "Of course!"
"What about the other tribe?"
Muyaun says "The ogre tribe will submit to you if you defeat their champion. It does not have to be a fight to the death, but if you can defeat him then it will make things much easier."
"How so?"
Muyaun says "They are the strongest tribe, no other tribe would dare to fight them. If they submit to you it will prove to all the tribes that you are the strongest warrior."
