The altar is bathed in golden light and the nine priests' bodies turn into dust and blow away. The high priest sacrificed all of them just to summon an angel. I wonder, can I eat an angel the same way I do the demons?

'Drog, can I eat an angel?'

Drog 'Only if you want to die! Just touching an angel is painful and causes burns to demons.'

'Alright, got it.'

As I turn my attention back to the altar I see a form taking shape within the golden light. Sure enough it is a humanoid figure with feathered wings. I hope it is a male angel, I don't know if I can bring myself to kill a female angel.

Luckily as the form develops it is definitely male so I don't have to worry about that at least. I never asked but I am pretty sure Seronia doesn't have any angels so I wonder where this guy was summoned from. I also would like to know where the high priest gained the knowledge to summon an angel.

'Drog, anything else you can tell me before I fight this guy?'

Drog 'Angels use holy magic for both attack and defense, also they can heal themselves. That's all I know, I've never seen one before.'

Guess I will figure out the rest by fighting him, hopefully he isn't as powerful as the drake. It sure is taking it a long time to form a physical body, I could have attacked dozens of times by now. Maybe I can pump the high priest for some information while I wait.

"Hey, fake priest, how long will this take?"

High Priest says "I am not a fake priest! You insolent cur, the angel will rip you into pieces shortly!"

"I don't know about that, it looks fairly weak to me."

High Priest says "You dare mock the Angel of Holos!?"

"Holos? Who might that be?"

High Priest says "He is God! Our One True God!!"

'Ugh, someone drank the kool-aid!'

There is a sudden tearing sound and when I look over I find the angel is fully formed and is now armed as well. He is wearing a golden breastplate and has two swords hung on his waist. His skin is almost as white as his wings and his hair is golden, which makes me wonder if the breastplate was chosen to match his hair.

He looks around at the chapel, he doesn't seem to care about all the corpses. When he spots me he takes a long look at me before finally turning to the high priest. Now that he is fully formed I can see his arua, it is blindingly bright, but I can see a mark on it that is nothing like the goddesses.

High Priest says "Great Angel of Holos! As a priest of Holos I beseech you to kill this beast who dares attack our church!"

The angel turns back to look at me and I just give it the most evil grin I can muster. He doesn't feel all that strong to me, I can't wait to test myself against him. He draws his swords and as they clear the sheath they are enveloped in golden fire.

He hops off the altar and walks towards me, when he is close enough I give him a test swing with Blitz. He blocks it using both swords but he slides back two feet when he does. He is strong, but not as strong as I am.

Still he is an angel, this should still be a fun fight. I stand ready and wait for his move, I want to see what kind of skill he has. He is still looking at me in surprise, I guess he wasn't expecting me to hit him so hard. He takes a few seconds to overcome his surprise before approaching me again, much more cautiously.

When he is close enough he starts attacking with both swords, he is doing a sword dance. Thanks to my high agility I am able to parry or dodge all his attacks. When his sword dance fails to hurt me he backs off a few steps and points one finger at me.

Angel says "Holy Light!"

A ray of golden light comes out of his finger and shoots towards me. Curiosity gets the better of me and I let the ray hit me, it causes intense pain but only does a few points of damage. Thanks to pain resist I can tolerate it without showing any signs to my enemy.

Seeing the ray has no effect, the angel stops trying to use it and attacks me with his swords again. Again I block or dodge all his strikes, but this time when I see an opening I punch him in the chest. The angel goes flying back until his back slams into the altar.

The impact turns the altar to rubble and there is a nice big dent in the angel’s breastplate. Sounds like he is having trouble breathing, so I am guessing at least broken ribs, and when he stands up it is obvious his wings are broken. He glares at me as blood dribbles from his mouth, I am surprised how much damage he took just from a punch.

Angel says "Full Heal!"

The angel is bathed in golden light and I watch as his wings are repaired. Even his breastplate is fully restored when the light fades away. He is once again in perfect condition, this is going to be more annoying than I had thought.

'That's annoying! I am going to have to kill him in one hit or this will never end.'

Drog 'I told you so!'

'Shut up!'

The angel charges at me and swings both swords again, I dodge as I try to think how to end this fight. The angel has lost his cool, there is now rage and hatred on his face as he tries to cut me down. Out of the corner of my eye I see the high priest pull himself from the rubble of the altar and hide behind the acolytes.

Now I want to kill the angel in one move, either pierce or chop should be strong enough. The problem is the time it takes to set up either move, maybe if I let the angel stab me he will be surprised enough for me to kill him. The problem is I want to kill him without destroying his swords or armor, they could be very useful if I can find myself a paladin.
