That should be enough time for everyone to enjoy themselves and then calm down. Then by the time we reach the next city, everyone will be able to focus on their tasks. The only thing that worries me is if the humans will be able to get word to the city ahead of us.
If so, then the city will be able to prepare for our arrival and set traps for us. Or worse, they might use the elven slaves as hostages to stop us from attacking. On the other hand, knowing humans, they might just kill all the elven slaves.
It is hard to predict what they might do, so I would prefer to avoid it all together. There shouldn't be any way for them to get ahead of us over land, and by sea we would spot them. The only way for them to get word ahead of us would be by magic, but that is something I can't stop.
Worse, I have no way of knowing if it is going to happen until it happens. The best I can do is try to think of some contingency plans, for the worst case scenarios. However, for now I am just going to relax a bit and spend some time with Nala and Albion.
After we are done eating I open a soulscape and invite all the kids to play. By the time we are done and I close the soulscape it is almost dawn, so I take a nap. Only to wake up a few hours later to have breakfast with Nala and Albion.
After breakfast, with the kids sent out to play, I open my pouch and take out the white book. Since it was hidden in the secret room I am the most curious about what is in it. However, I am very quickly disappointed, there is only one spell in the book.
It is a spell for summoning and controlling an angel, not something I want to try. I have enough problems without throwing some random angel into the mix. The spell is a horrible idea, the angel summoned is random, but the spell can only control low rank angels.
Meaning if you are unlucky and get a higher rank angel, you are screwed. It makes no sense to me why a mage would even develop such a spell. The only reason I can think of is if the mage wanted to create a religion.
However, even that doesn't make sense, if you want to make a religion all you need is to be a good liar. Then again, maybe the mage was lonely and was hoping to summon and control a female angel. Actually, now that I think about it, that is more likely than wanting to found a religion.
"Seronia, would you have any use for a mage spell that summons an angel?"
Seronia says "What? Is there such a spell?"
"Yeah. I just happened to steal it from the humans."
Seronia says "While I am not sure if it will be useful, I will take it. Just don't you try casting it!"
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
"Relax, I had no plan to! I will offer it up to you right now!"
Seronia says "Alright. I will try to make use of it. Thank you."
After getting rid of the book through the offering ceremony I turn to the rest of the books. A lot of them are books full of spells, not very useful to me since I don't cast normal spells. So, I put them aside, I will just give them to Yui later, she might have a use for it.
The rest of the books are magical theory, magic history, and even some religious texts. As soon as I find the religious texts I burn them, they are completely useless. I have no idea why the mages even bothered to collect these things, there is nothing useful in them
They don't even have information about the pantheons, at least not accurate information. It is all just made up stories about how great the gods and goddesses are. Normally, mages and religious types don't get along, which is why them collecting these is so weird.
Although, if they aren't enemies, it is possible that the mages joined the religions. With my curiosity piqued, I start reading the magic history books looking for an answer. Unfortunately, the books are more about the famous mages of the past than the history of the guild.
Luckily, I am a very fast reader so I don't waste too much time on the history books. It looks like I should have raided a normal library while I was in the city. Maybe I will be able to find the chance to loot the library in the next port city.
With the fact that I will be the one planning the assault, that shouldn't be a problem. So, for the moment I put it aside and start reading the magical theory books. This is what I was really after, if I want to be able to use mana better I need to increase my knowledge.
Of course, everything I read I will have to take with a grain of salt, the humans are wrong about a lot of things. However, they aren't wrong about everything so there is still something I can learn. There are far too many books for me to read them all in just one day.
I read until it is time to have dinner, then I eat with Nala and Albion before opening a soulscape. After I am done playing with all the kids and end the soulscape I find myself torn. I want to go into the hall and explore, but I also want to continue my reading.
In the end, I decide to head into the hall and return to the last world to look for more coins. After all, there isn't anything to fight in that world so I won't gain any experience. It has been a while since I went into the hall, and the books aren't going anywhere.
With my mind made up, I enter the hall and head for the door to the battlefield world. Once I am through the gate and have built my body I take a look around for a battlefield. Thanks to the map, once I find a landmark, it is fairly easy to figure out where to go.
As soon as I reach the battlefield I happily roll around collecting everything. Then I move on to the next one and do the same thing, and then again to a third. Freely collecting loot without having to do anything to get it is a wonderful feeling.
Gained 11,385 Soul Coins.
Gained 17 Healing Crystals.
Gained 1 Soul Armor Piece - Boots (+3 Defense).
All things considered, this is a lot of fun and I am getting a lot of useful stuff. The soul armor especially makes this worth it, I have a feeling that will come in real handy later. The healing crystals are nice, but I would prefer not to need them, and the coins are useless until I find somewhere to spend them.
Of course, I am sure that eventually I will find the coins useful, just not yet. That isn't about to stop me from collecting them, especially since they don't take up room or anything. However, as I am on my way to loot a forth battlefield, I spot a group of people heading towards me.
