"Yes, I accept."
Both say "Good!"
"So, now what?"
White says "With your permission."
Black says "We will spread the word that the church supports you."
"Why would you want to do that?"
White says "The church has quite a bit of influence."
Black says "Our backing will give you some political power."
"Is that because I am meeting with the city leader?"
White says "That is part of it, yes."
Black says "It will also help when dealing with other powers in the city."
"I see, alright, I guess go ahead."
White says "Also we plan to locate an estate."
Black says "And buy it for you."
"An estate? Why?"
White says "Your followers might not be comfortable here in the church."
Black says "And it will also help your prestige within the city."
"Alright, but you don't have to buy it, I have money."
White says "Save your money for other things."
Black says "The church has plenty of money, this won't affect us."
"Well, if you insist."
White says "The goddesses told us to help you."
Black says "We wish to provide you a home."
"Alright, you win."
Both say "Yay!"
"Although, there is no rush. I am quite enjoying staying at the Happy Traveler."
White says "If you like it that much."
Black says "Would you like us to buy it for you?"
"Doesn't Sarah own the inn?"
White says "No, she rents it."
Black says "A noble owns the entire street."
"All the heroes have to rent their shops?"
White says "Yes, they are not greatly liked."
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Black says "People fear them because they are different."
"Hm, would it be possible to forget about the estate and buy the entire street instead?"
White says "You wish to help them?"
Black says "The goddesses said you were very kind."
"Yes, I feel for them. I have not been well treated in this world."
White says "We want to change that for you."
Black says "We will buy you the street."
"Buying the street won't cause any problems for the church will it?"
White says "The noble who owns the street is a follower."
Black says "He will be happy to sell to us."
"As long as it won't cause you any problems. Then I would appreciate it very much."
White says "We and all who follow the goddesses."
Black says "Are yours to command."
"That is going to take some getting used to."
White says "We understand that."
Black says "We will be patient while you adjust."
White says "Just know that we are here for you."
Black says "Anything you need, anything at all."
"Alright, I will keep it in mind."
White says "We will make the arrangements."
Black says "You should go talk to Sarah."
"Yeah, probably shouldn't surprise her with this."
We say our farewells and I walk out of the church, I stop once the doors close behind me. I've known all along that the goddesses would support me as they could, but I didn't expect this. Having the entire church support me is just a little overwhelming.
Having that much power under my control is a little scary, for just a minute I think about conquering the world. Not that I can in this life since I have limited time, but maybe in the next life. It might be fun to be a tyrant for a while, but I have seen how big the world is, it would be a lot of work.
For now I make my way back to the street of the summoned and head for the Happy Traveler. It feels like a lot of time has passed but as I enter the inn I realize it isn't even lunch time yet and the common room is empty. Sarah is relaxing and I feel bad for interrupting her rare free time.
"Hi, Sarah, can we talk?"
Sarah says "Sure! You want something to eat?"
"No, I'm not hungry yet, I just want to talk."
Sarah says "Okay, what's up?"
"So, the church is planning to buy this entire street for me."
Sarah says "Haha! That's a good joke!"
"No, I'm serious. The goddesses have told the church to obey me."
Sarah says "I'm hurt, Ash, how could you go and get drunk somewhere else?"
"I'm not drunk, I'm not even sure if I can get drunk."
Sarah says "How can you say such things with a straight face?"
"I can say them because they are true. This street will be purchased by the church. I am just here to warn you."
Sarah says "Even if someone purchases the street nothing will really change."
"True, only your rent will change."
Sarah says "Do you think they will raise the rent?"
"No, there will be no more rent."
Sarah says "How can you be sure of that?"
"I told you, the church is buying it for me, and I don't plan to charge anyone rent."
Sarah says "How will you make money if you don't charge rent?"
"I don't need to make money."
Sarah says "Who doesn't need money?"
"Someone who already has enough. Despite what most people will tell you, money is worthless after a certain point."
Sarah says "Then why are rich people still so greedy?"
"Because it's not about the money for them anymore. The money just becomes a counter so they can compete with other rich people. Humans always want to be the best, they always fight and strive to be better."
Sarah says "That's not true, I've seen many lazy people."
"No rule fits everyone, but don't a lot of those people play video games and strive to be the best?"
Sarah says "Well, I guess so."
"Then they just found another way to strive and fight. This rule doesn't apply to everyone but it fits humanity in general. Why do you think our world could never end war?"
Sarah says "What are you? Some kind of philosopher?"
"No, in our world I was a fat lazy guy obsessed with anime."
Sarah says "Then what is with all these deep thoughts that are giving me a headache?"
"Just some things that have rattled around in my head from time to time. You don't have to take it seriously."
Before Sarah can answer we are interrupted by the door opening and someone entering. It is Walter who walks in which is a surprise since I didn't think he ever came here. He looks around and spots me and quickly walks over.
Walter says "You. Come. Now."
Then he turns and walks out even faster than he walked in. Not having any idea what is going on I shrug in apology to Sarah and get up to follow Walter out. When I get outside I see Walter halfway down the street already so I quickly run to catch up with him.
