Then I notice that the priest's lips are moving and I suddenly have a bad feeling. The priest is no real threat to us, but whoever he is praying to is a different story. I want to just kill him before anything can happen, but that wouldn't look good.
I can tell that Lin wants to keep the villagers on our side and not hurt them. So, despite what I want to do, I stay still and let Lin handle it, I trust her. Besides, if things go wrong I will be right here to protect her, nothing will hurt her.
The priest goes back to shouting, trying to get the other villagers to attack us. Lin speaks calmly and tells the villagers that I am no demon beast, I am only a magical beast. Right then I am tempted to say something and watch all the villagers freak out, but Lin would be pissed.
She doesn't have my sense of humor for these types of situations, she is more serious. The priest is still ranting and raving, but I notice he keeps looking around. He is acting like a religious nutjob, but it is just that, an act, he is trying to buy time.
I'm guessing that he reported to whoever he worships and is expecting a response. However, I am not worried, even if an avatar descends I can handle it. It isn't likely to happen, from everything I have heard about the continent's deities, they don't respond much.
Even if it does happen, as long as it is an avatar I should be able to deal with it. If the god or goddess directly descends, then I am going to run as fast as I can. I may have become a little arrogant, but that doesn't mean I am stupid enough to fight a god.
Maybe if I become a dragon I will have the strength to fight a god, but until then all I can do is run. However, the chances of a god directly descending are very low, at least from what I know. Although, I am curious, if an avatar does appear, will it even be able to see us?
The original spell was designed to block scrying, but I made some changes. It is specifically aimed at gods and is meant to keep them from seeing us. It would be pretty funny if it actually made us invisible to them, but that probably won't happen.
Several minutes pass as I am thinking about things, but nothing happens. The priest is still yelling about me being a demon, but most of the villagers have lowered their weapons. They don't look like they believe him and despite his prayers, no deity has shown up.
Lin says "Enough of this. We are leaving."
Hunter says "I apologize for the priest's actions. Please don't mind him. Thank you for saving my son!"
Kid says "Yes, thank you!"
Lin says "You're welcome."

Lin taps with her heels letting me know it is time to leave, but as I spread my wings light descends. It is a column of white light, but I am pretty sure it is just theatrics. A figure forms where the light hits the ground, the figure of a man.
The figure is tall, over seven feet, with long golden hair and is well built. However, I can tell that it is a lesser avatar, barely more solid than a projection. It is pretty disappointing since only a prime avatar is of use to the sisters.
As soon as the figure appears, the priest drops to his knees and starts praising it. The poor villagers are completely shocked, they never expected their god to appear. After a yell from the priest, every single villager drops to their knees.
The avatar ignores them, including the priest, as he walks towards the two of us. Unfortunately, it looks like the cloaks don't make us invisible to deities, that's disappointing. The avatar also ignores me as he walks up to us, his eyes are only on Lin.
God says "So you are the one who destroyed the pirates? You took a lot of effort to find. Originally I was planning to kill you, but now that I've seen you I think I will keep you."
Lin doesn't answer him, she just smiles, but that is because she can feel me taking a deep breath. The god steps closer and reaches towards her, but that is when I hit him with my breath weapon. He has an energy shield, but it only stops the fire for half of a second before it fails.
The avatar only manages a single scream before it is burned away completely. It was even weaker than I thought, I wonder if he is only a lesser god or something. The villagers are all sitting on their knees in shock, but the priest looks terrified.
He shot at Lin, I am not going to let him off, with a thought I send a firebolt his way. I feel better after watching the priest burn to death, but the villagers all take off running. Even the hunter picks up his son and runs off, not that that would save them if I wanted to kill them.
Lin says "Did you have to do that?"
"Yes. He shot at you, no way I was letting him get away with it."
Lin says "I was never in any danger."
"Doesn't matter. It's the principle of the thing. I will kill absolutely anyone who threatens you."
Lin says "That's sweet, but now everyone is terrified. Let's go."
"Actually, I wanted to wait and see if the god would send a stronger avatar."
Lin says "What if he brings friends?"
"As long as they are just avatars I should be able to handle it."
Lin says "And if you fight a bunch of avatars, what will happen to the village and villagers?"
"Um."
Lin says "Exactly. Let's go."
"Alright."
Lin says "We should probably move the castle as well."
"Yeah, good idea. That hunter would tell the god where we are."
Lin says "What, no argument?"
"Nope, not when the kid's safety is concerned."
Lin says "But it's okay to risk me?"
"You said you didn't want me to shelter you. So, yes, I will risk you."
Lin says "Thank you."
I quickly fly us back to the castle, land out front, and summon the kids with a shout. While Lin is getting them in their harnesses, I shrink the castle and put it away. Once the kids are secure I take off and start flying west to find a new spot.
I am happy that when I removed the castle there was no sign of it being there. At least not from a distance, up close all the plants that were moved are all dead. Unfortunately, I don't know how to make a holding space that will work with living things.
It is probably because there is no air in the space, so I probably need to make a space with air. Either that or I need to find something that doesn't need air to live to test it. If I can figure out how to add air, I would be closer to figuring out the small world enchantment.
