Staying absolutely still I wait to see what it will do, it lets out a low growl that I feel as much as hear. Then its head turns to aim directly at me, it must have something like echo location. It is probably short range, and the roaring was longer range, but it was the sound of mining that attracted it.
This thing must be the reason why everything around here is so silent, I'm guessing once it locates you it doesn't lose you easily. Meaning if I run it will probably chase me all the way to the tunnel, so I will need to be faster than it. It is still growling and has its head aimed at me, but it hasn't moved closer yet.
Maybe if I just stay still long enough it will think I am a tree or rock and go away. Of course I realize that it is probably just wishful thinking but I really don't want to try and fight this thing. Now that I have the time for a better look, the head isn't that of a t-rex, it is narrower and more streamlined, more like that of a velociraptor.
That could mean any number of things, but the most worrying is it could mean it is more intelligent than a t-rex. Fighting a big dumb animal is one thing, fighting something with intelligence is an altogether different story. It has the advantage in size and power, while I should be faster and harder to hit since I am small, but being smarter is a lot more important.
The fact that it is blind and can only see me through sound means its ears must be extremely sensitive, that could be another advantage if I use it right. As I am thinking about ways to battle it the thing finally moves as it slowly pushes past the trees into the clearing. The body is very similar to a t-rex, but the arms are not small, they are about half the size of the legs and end in fearsome looking claws.
This thing is nothing but weapons, teeth, claws, and I even have to worry about getting stepped on. Then I notice that its tail ends in a formidable looking club, and is more flexible than expected. So that is another attack to watch out for, no wonder this thing is the top of the food chain.
I would even go so far as to call it a super predator, it has no obvious weaknesses except for the fact that it is blind. If I was fighting it in darkness that wouldn't even be a weakness, but while the crystal light isn't as bright as sunlight I can still see perfectly. The thought of fighting this thing in its element is terrifying, I think I would rather fight another drake.
This whole time while I have been studying it and trying to come up with a plan it has kept growling. When the growl stops and it suddenly breaths in through its nose I realize I might have made a mistake. I suddenly remember in one of the movies they talked about how good a t-rex's sense of smell is.
If it can smell me it will know for sure that I am not a tree or a rock! Even as I come to this realization it is too late, the thing is already lunging at me with its jaws wide open. The sight is enough to make my heart skip a beat and because I was so focused on staying perfectly still I am slow to react and can't get out of the way in time.

In desperation I extend my arms to try and stop the mouth from closing on me. I immediately feel my arms being forced back and with a thought I ditch the manacles. Then using all my might I am just barely able to stop the jaws from closing further, looking down I see the teeth a few inches from my sides.
If I was any weaker or had been any slower in getting rid of the manacles it would have bitten me in half. It is continuing to try and bite down so I can not do anything but keep pushing as hard as I can against the jaws. This leaves me in a seriously bad situation, I can't move and it still has its claws free to come in and tear me apart.
If I was alone this would probably have been the end for me, but luckily for me I have Bones. Before the thing can get me with its claws, Bones charges in from the side and slashes his sword into its neck. The thing backhands him and even though he got his shield up in time Bones is sent flying across the clearing.
However, in that brief moment when its attention is directed elsewhere it stops trying to bite down. That gives me the chance to push its jaws away and drop and roll out from under the head. I roll a few extra times to give me some distance and as I regain my feet I draw Blitz.
Running away would be the smart move at this point, but I am not yet convinced that I can't beat it. Especially when I see Bones back on his feet and coming back into the clearing. The two of us working together can defeat this thing, at least I am pretty confident we can.
"Bones, move to the far side, when it is focused on me you attack, and when it focuses on you I will attack."
Bones immediately moves sideways around the clearing until he is on the other side of the thing. The rex growls again to relocate me but it also looks in Bones' direction as well. I guess Bones smells like bones so the thing ignored him until he moved to attack, but now it knows better.
The slash on its neck doesn't look very serious, it is bleeding but only a little, not much chance of it bleeding out from that. Much like the other big beasts I have fought, I am probably going to have to inflict a lot of wounds and wait for the thing to bleed out to kill it. Luckily as I watch I don't see any signs of the wound healing, if it healed like the hydra I would probably have to give up and run away.
The thing takes a step towards me, with its head down and its arms spread wide, and it is still growling as it moves. Before I can warn him Bones tries to move in from behind it but has to jump aside as the tail slams down where he was just standing. Apparently while the thing is growling it has no blind spot, which makes my plan pretty much useless.
We are either going to have to wait to attack until it stops growling or I am going to have to be faster than it can keep track of. I am still not too worried, I have several plans in mind that I can try against it. It is acting more cautiously now and not just charging straight at me, it must have experience fighting multiple opponents.
That might mean there are other predators down here who can hold their own against it, even if it is using numbers. It can't be the bird-things, even a dozen of them would be no threat to this thing. That means there is another predator in here that is capable of at least fighting this thing off.
