As I watch, the sailors lower the boats and start rowing towards the beach. When they reach the beach I crouch down to reduce the chances of them spotting me. Luckily, they aren't looking around much, they just unload the crates and carry them towards the cliff.
The cliff they head towards is the one on the south side of the beach, closest to the city. To my surprise, they move aside some large rocks and reveal a cave opening. I finally get it, they are smugglers and that cave probably leads to a tunnel to the city.
However, the sailors don't go into the cave like I was expecting them to. Instead they light a torch and set it at the entrance, then they put the crates down. They sit on the crates and relax, but I keep seeing them glancing at the cave entrance.
Sailor1 says "Are they late or are we early?"
Officer says "We were right on time. Those idiots are late!"
Sailor2 says "You don't think the guards are onto us, do you?"
Officer says "No! If the guards knew about us they would have been here waiting! Those idiots are probably just chasing a woman!"
They sit around chatting and continue bashing whoever they are waiting for. They are going through a lot of effort just to avoid customs, it is making me wonder what is inside those crates. It is either something illegal, or something very valuable, but before I can move someone comes out of the cave.
Officer says "It's about time! Where are the others? Why are you alone?!"
Thug says "It's horrible! I am the only one left! All the others were slaughtered!!"
As all the sailors are staring at the thug in shock I realize what is going on. It turns out that the group of thugs I killed were the people the smugglers were waiting for. Such a pleasant coincidence, now I have no reason to spare these sailors.
Sailor1 says "What are you talking about? How could they be dead?!"
Sailor2 says "I knew it! The guards are onto us!"
Officer says "Shut up!! Tell me what happened!
Thug says "I don't know the details. The boss left me to watch the base!"
"I can tell you, I killed them all."
Sailor1 says "A monster! RUN!!!!"
Since I don't want to damage the crates I don't want to use fire, but I also don't want to chase down the sailors. So, instead I just throw out a bunch of Wind Blades, one for each sailor. I also throw one at the thug, the only one I spare is the officer, so I can ask him some questions.

The officer just stares around as all the sailors and the thug get their heads cut off. After being stunned for a few seconds he draws his cutlass and charges at me. However, when his cutlass hits me the blade snaps and he is left just holding a hilt.
"Tell me about your business and who is behind it and I will give you a painless death."
Officer says "You can talk?! What kind of monster are you?!"
"Either start talking or I will tear you apart, slowly!"
The officer looks at his broken cutlass, looks up at me, and then words start flowing like a river. It turns out that this is not a small operation that I have stumbled upon. This officer's ship and the thugs are just small-time middlemen of a much larger group.
It seems to be run by a kingdom further in the continent with no coast of its own. Several pirate and thief groups work for them collecting various magical objects. Then those groups pass the items to this group to transport them to the kingdom.
The kingdom is run by mages, so magical resources are all they care about. As soon as I hear that, not only am I more curious about the crates, but I am tempted to visit this kingdom. Maybe after the raid on the city I can find some time to go take a look.
"Alright, one last question. Are all the magical resources here or are there more on the ship?"
Officer says "They are all here!"
"Alright. Since you were so cooperative and didn't try lying to me I am going to let you live. Take the tunnel to the city and go."
Officer says "The tunnel? Why not the....."
Before he can even finish his question I have formed a large fireball and thrown it at the ship. The ship goes up like it was soaked in oil, it looks like they didn't have any defenses against fire. I was expecting it to at least have an enchantment to protect it, looks like I went overboard.

The officer, seeing his ship destroyed, runs into the cave before I even turn back to look at him. I've already forgotten all about him as I open the first crate to see what's inside. To my surprise, when I open the crate a rock floats out of it, it stops and hovers at about five feet.
Instantly, I send my mana into the floating rock to try and figure out what it is. After seeing it float, I was expecting it to be something like a wind rock. However, what I find is that it actually works completely different to what I was expecting.
The rock itself is just normal rock, instead it is a small amount of metal inside that is special. Somehow, that tiny amount of metal is reacting in opposition to the planet's magnetic field allowing it to float. Without the weight of the rock holding it down it would be floating much higher.
Immediately, I think about the idea I had of turning the ship into an airship. In my excitement I quickly rip open the rest of the crates hoping to find more. Unfortunately, while there are a lot of interesting looking things in the other crates, there are no more floating rocks.
Before exploring the contents of the other crates, I go back to the floating rock. Then I break it open and remove the metal from inside so that I can examine it. Mainly, I want to try and figure out the ratio to figure out the weight it can handle.
Unfortunately, from what I can tell, it would take tons of this metal to float the ship. However, that doesn't mean that I am going to give up on the idea just yet. Since I know that this metal exists now, I can search for more of it, or just make more.
It would take massive amounts of Origin Energy to make enough metal, but it's not impossible. In fact, I am tempted to use the energy I still have to make more metal right now. However, I was saving that for trying to upgrade my eyes again, so I'm a little torn.
