Ep. 1092 Homeward Bound Part 1

"That's good. I will go find Lin and then go help the elves heal."

Jarvis says "Lady Lin is currently asleep. It is the middle of the night right now."

"That doesn't matter. As strange as it sounds, she would be more upset if I didn't wake her up and let her know I am back."

Jarvis says "I do not understand, but I will trust your words, maker."

I carefully pick myself up off of the floor, but moving proves to be a challenge. It looks like I will need a bit to get used to my new stats, they normally don't increase that much. Although, I have to say that this evolution did end up giving me a ton of stat points.

The most surprising thing is that it actually increased my divine power. Before now, the only time that has increased was when I leveled up my class. Speaking of my stats, it has been a while since I took a good look at my stats.

It looks like the evolution points needed are going to increase for each level. I hadn't realized how much my stats have increased, no wonder I need to get used to them again. However, that can wait until later, for now I just shapeshift into human form.

Since my stats are limited in my human form, there are no changes for me to adjust to. I exit from the castle, head into the bedroom, and wake Lin up with a kiss. Other than her saying 'Welcome back' we don't talk until a few hours later.

Lin says "So, how did your evolution go?"

"Well, other than being asleep a lot longer than planned, there were a few surprises. Other than that, it went about as expected."

Lin says "Oh, what surprises?"

"Well, the stat boosts were a lot higher than I was expecting. Also, it somehow increased my divine power, which was really surprising."

Lin says "At least they were good surprises. So, what's next?"

"First I was going to go help heal the elves. Then I suppose it is back to business as usual."

Lin says "You don't know yet?"

"Know what?"

Lin says "There are two reasons we haven't moved. One was to let the elves heal. The other is because Athena sensed something you will probably be interested in. North of where we currently are, there are some floating islands. Well, I suppose floating icebergs would be more accurate."

"Floating? Of course I am interested!"

Lin says "Alright. I am going back to sleep. Go heal the elves and then we can go to the floating icebergs after breakfast."

"Sounds like a plan. Sleep well."

A single question to Athena gets me guided to the temporary infirmary that was set up. When I enter I find that there are over a hundred injured elves inside. One of the elves that became a cleric of Seronia is in charge and I have her assist me.

Starting with those with the worst injuries, I start using my divine power to heal them. After one spell from me, they are completely healed and can leave the infirmary. Those with lesser injuries are healed by my aura so I don't need to do anything for them.

Luckily, my divine power lasts long enough to heal all of the worst cases. After that, I just sit down in the middle of the room and let my aura do the rest of the work. By the time the sun is rising, there are no injured elves left, they are all fully healed.

Knowing that it is too early to wake up Lin, I head up on deck to take a look at the islands. There are several dozen of them all of different sizes, from as small as a hill to as big as a mountain. They are completely covered by ice, but that is no guarantee that there isn't rock inside them.

I sit in the bow of the ship and try to work out the math to see how much floating metal I need. I got some from Zachariah and more in the southern empire, but it isn't enough. It would have been originally, but the mass of the ship has increased since then.

Based on my calculations, I need at least a hundred pounds worth of floating metal. That is the bare minimum, I would prefer to have more just in case I need to expand the ship again. Assuming that these islands are floating due to floating metal, I should be able to find enough.

That isn't guaranteed, there could easily be another material that is causing these islands to float. If that is the case, then it will depend on the material as to whether or not I can use it. As long as it isn't some weird type of ice, I should be able to figure out a way to use it.

However, I won't be able to find out right now, if I go without Lin she will get mad. The sun has been up for a couple of hours now, it should be safe to wake her up. So, I return to the cabin and when I do I find that the kids are all awake already.

As soon as they see me they all run over to welcome me back and get some affection. Mulan is included in that, which is kind of a relief, I was worried she would change now that she is a teenager. I don't know if I am ready to handle it if she suddenly goes into a rebellious phase.

"Mulan, I wanted to ask, do you want your own room or are you fine with things as they are?"

Mulan says "I am fine as things are. Also, you don't have to worry about me acting like a human teenager."

"What? Can you read minds now?"

Mulan laughs and says "Nope, but I can read faces! And worry was written all over yours, dad."

"Sorry, I didn't really have chance to get used to you growing up before I want to sleep. I wasn't expecting to sleep for so long, otherwise I would have waited a bit longer."
