Krenocia doesn't answer me, but I can feel that she is still paying attention to me. She is probably trying to give me room to think, or distance herself from whatever crazy idea I come up with. Either way, she is there if I need to ask any questions, which is a good thing.
When the undead energy was in me I could tell that it was eating away at Krenocia's power. However, I didn't touch the lifeforce that I have gained from draining other things. So it is probably not compatible with other types of undead energy or something like that.
Unfortunately, I have no idea whether or not I can survive without Krenocia's power. The lifeforce I have stolen may keep me alive without it, but I can't take that risk. So, whatever I do, I can't let the power from the undead reach Krenocia's power.
Since that is the case, the best idea I can come up with is to make something that can eat their power. Since I have Drain Touch I know how to turn the spell into an enchantment. Then all I need is another enchantment that will make use of the stolen power.
Since I will be fighting against the undead, a blunt weapon would make the most sense. The problem is that I don't currently have any materials with me to make something. Then I remember the iron ore I spotted and ignored in the passage above me.
"Krenocia, if I forge a weapon that can eat the power of the undead, that would work, right?"
Krenocia says "It should. Can you forge such a weapon?"
"I think I can."
Krenocia says "Is there anything you need from me?"
"The enchantment to steal the power is easy, but I don't know what to do with it after that."
Krenocia says "Destroying power is not possible. Is there a way to just store it?"
"I could do that, but it would be very limited. Once the weapon has stored a certain amount, any further kills would send the energy back to the maker."
Krenocia says "Then what other options are there?"
"Well, I am trying to think of something useful to do with the energy once it is stolen. If I could alter the energy so it didn't try to eat your power then I could use it."
Krenocia says "How are you going to modify the energy?"
"That is the part I am still trying to figure out. It would be a lot easier if I used divine power."
Krenocia says "It may be easier, but it is also riskier. If you do any more damage to your soul, not even my sister would be able to save you."
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"Alright, I get it! I won't use any divine power! In that case, I don't have enough information. I need to gather some of the power from the undead so I can experiment."
Krenocia says "That's fine. As long as you don't use divine power you have my permission to experiment."
"Alright, then I better get started. I don't have time to waste."
Krenocia says "Fine. Call me if you need me."
After that her presence fades away, but I can feel that she is still watching me. That just means she will respond immediately if I need to ask her anything. So, I get up and rush back to the edge of the island, but as I do I notice something.
The ice has retreated by about a foot or so, probably because of the crack. My best guess would be that the power of the seal is shrinking to try and combat the damage. Looking around a bit I find an area of disturbed dirt, it looks kind of like a grave.
That probably means that there are undead buried all over this island. Otherwise, what point would there be in having the ice seal cover most of the island. If that is the case, then the undead army is even bigger than I originally thought.
It looks like Krenocia was right, if I just leave this alone then it will become a huge problem. It might even reach the mainland, although I doubt it will affect the peninsula. Still, since I caused this, I should probably do something to try and fix it.
So, I take some of the dirt from the grave and mix in a little water from the sea. Once it turns into mud I do my best to shape it into a roughly shaped pot. Seeing how horrible it turns out when I shape it with my paws, I switch to using mana.
Once I have it in the shape I want I use fire mana to bake it until it is solid. It is really crude, but it will hold a little mana, hopefully enough for one simple spell. I very carefully channel mana into the pot, just a few points at a time.
As soon as there is enough mana in the pot I stop and start shaping it into an enchantment. The enchantment is to simply hold energy, all it can do is contain the energy. Due to how shabby the pot turned out the enchantment can only be used once.
It probably will only last for a few minutes at most, but that should be enough time. Very gently carrying the pot I head back towards the ice mountain looking for an undead. Unfortunately, I don't have any luck and don't see an undead until I reach the mountain.
Luckily, the undead are still ignoring me and I am able to just walk right up to one of them. Setting the pot on the ground I put one paw inside and then touch the undead with my other paw. I use Drain Touch on the undead and instantly use my mana to contain the energy and move it to the pot.
It works, the energy doesn't affect me at all and the pot manages to hold it. However, I can already see cracks forming on the pot, it isn't going to hold out for long. So, I quickly focus and start analyzing the power, poking and prodding at it with my mana.
Six minutes later the pot shatters and the power goes rushing off into the ice mountain. Luckily, that was more than enough time for me to figure out a few things about the power. Krenocia's power comes from the power of death, this power is different, it doesn't come from death.
As far as I can tell it comes from what I would call unlife, it is hostile to all powers of life. Death is a natural part of life, that is why the two powers are not compatible. No matter what, I will never be able to make the two powers work together.
However, that doesn't mean that the power can't be altered, it just needs to be purified. The problem is that I can't use any kind of power that has natural energies. Luckily, mana can become all sorts of things, including pure energy that has no features.
In theory I should be able to use neutral mana as a filter to alter the undead's energy. However, it is not something I have ever tried before, so I can't be sure what it will turn into. The only way to find out will be to give it a try, which could be dangerous.
