It doesn't take long to find more goblins, but this time it is a group of four. Before they can even see me I toss a fireball right in the middle of them. The explosion turns all four goblins into charcoal, it is even stronger than I was expecting.

This is going better than I expected, as long as I keep paying attention and don't get careless, this will work. It is fairly easy to keep focused, I just have to remember I only have eleven hitpoints. So, despite wanting to hurry and level up, I keep my cool and take my time.

Again, a single fireball was all it took to wipe out the group of goblins I found. My fireball is doing more damage than it should, it might have something to do with my new race. It would be nice if the fireball spell was showing in my skill list so I could check the stats of it.
Even spells I have never used before aren't showing up as skills, it is puzzling. My divine spells haven't changed, they are still listed, which just makes it more weird. However, it doesn't affect my casting of spells, it just means they don't improve.
Of course, if I improve the way I cast a spell then the spell is still more effective. It just means I have to figure out how to improve the spell myself instead of depending on the system. While it is a lot more difficult, it will be better for me in the long run since it will increase my understanding.
If my understanding of magic improves it will affect all of my spells, not just one. So, that is something to aim for, but it will take time so I am not going to worry about it right now. Instead, I am going to focus on finding and killing more goblins so I can level up.
The next goblins I find are a little more difficult to deal with, they are in two groups. There are twelve goblins in total split between the two groups, one on each side of a cave entrance. The problem is that I need to take out both groups at the same time or they will have a chance to attack me.
If they were just a little bit closer together then a single fireball would do the trick. However, they aren't closer so I need to kill both groups at the same time. First I try casting two fireballs at the same time, but I am unable to, they merge together.
I can't keep the two spells separate in my mind, mainly because the spells are identical. When I realize that, I try with a fireball and a lightning bolt at the same time. That works, but it requires a lot more mental focus than casting spells normally.
The targeting is also tricky, but I am worried the lightning bolt won't kill the entire group. Even if some survive, I am far enough away that I should have time for another spell before they reach me. After calculating everything I decide to go ahead and give it a try, so I release both spells.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
As expected, the fireball completely annihilates the larger of the two groups. The lightning bolt is stronger than I expected, but it doesn't kill all of the second group. The two goblins that survive are stunned by the lightning, so I finish them with a pair of firebolts.

With that I am halfway to reaching level one, but I am running out of time, it will be dawn soon. As much as I want to stay here and keep hunting, I also need to work on the ship. So I head back to the gate and use it to return to the hallway, then I stay inside the meditation room.
Only once my mana is full do I exit the room and return to the real world. By then the sun has been up for about an hour, but most of the elves are still sleeping. Nala is also sound asleep beside me, but Albion is awake and rubs against me when he sees that I am awake.
After petting him for a few minutes I give him some breakfast and then take out mine. When the smell of food wakes up Nala I give her some breakfast as well. Once I am done eating I leave the two of them to play and get to work on the ship.
The general shape is like that of a really big canoe, but I am not cutting anything away. Instead I am pushing the parts I don't want into the shape I am keeping. Meaning the density of what is left is a lot higher than it should be for a tree.
This also means if I need more material I can get it just by decreasing the density as well. My main goal right now is to hollow out the main body, then I will be able to adjust things easier. Other than a short break for lunch I work on it the entire day, but only get about half way.
Still, it is progress and it feels good to finally be working on building the ship. Until the ship is done there is a lot to worry about, like the humans and the maker. So, the longer it takes for me to build the ship, the greater the danger becomes.
The elves don't have much ability to defend themselves currently, other than Brightfire. The elven warriors, while skilled, are not very strong since they don't have levels. That reminds me that I need to talk to Stillwater, so I invite him and Silverstream to join me for dinner.
Then after dinner I talk to the two of them for a while about the goddesses. Since it is coming from me they both seem fairly open to the idea of converting. However, I am not very good at talking about things like this, so I decide to cheat.
Closing my eyes I open a soulscape and invite the two of them into it, then I invite the goddesses. Meeting the goddesses directly does a lot better job of convincing them than I ever could. The goddesses answer all of their questions and in the end both Stillwater and Silverstream are convinced.
I will leave it to the two of them to talk to the rest of the elves about converting. That way I can focus on the ship and let them worry about their people. After talking to the goddesses for a while longer, Stillwater and Silverstream leave.
Seronia says "Is that what you wanted from us?"
"Yes, thank you. I am just not good at talking about religion."
Krenocia says "That's alright. Preaching is not what I summoned you for! You just keep doing what you are good at!"
Seronia says "Getting in trouble and making us worry?"
"That is not all I am good at!"
Krenocia says "No, but it is what you are best at!"
"Well, with recent events I feel it would be pointless to argue that."
Seronia says "Wow, he can be wise!"
Krenocia laughs and says "Is there anything else you need help with?"
"No, that was all."
As soon as I finish speaking, Seronia comes over and kisses me, but Krenocia hasn't left. When Seronia is done kissing me Krenocia comes up and takes her turn. They both leave once Krenocia is done, but all I can do is stand there staring blankly.
