Ep. 929 Journey to the West Part 13

With Lin's help, I am able to finish clearing out the third floor of the library. I am glad that we just barely had enough room, I really didn't want to give up the drake's body. Not only is it useful to me, but I wouldn't want to leave it here for the humans to dissect.

Lin says "Should we head down and keep going? There is still a little room in the backpack."

"No, let's not get greedy. We have gotten the most important books."

Lin says "Alright. Do we need to leave the city before I open the gate?"

"Nope. They haven't gotten the enchantments back up yet."

Lin says "Then are we ready to go?"

"Yes. Unless you know where to find whoever was experimenting on the drake."

Lin says "It was probably the head of the department, but I have no idea where he would be right now."

"Then we should go home."

Lin opens a gate, and I shapeshift into human form so that I can fit through it. The kids are all awake and eagerly greet us when we return through the gate. Once we get them settled down and we have had lunch, Lin starts going through the books we stole.

"You know, there isn't enough room in here to take all the books out."

Lin says "I know that, but I can still sort through them and see which ones I haven't read yet."

"Alright, I won't argue. I will put a chest of holding by the bookcases. You can put the ones you have read in that and the ones you haven't in the bookcases."

Lin says "That works. We don't have anything else we need to do right?"

"Nope. I don't have any plans for the near future, except to spend time with you and the kids."

Lin says "Are you sure you won't get bored? I have heard a lot about what you do when you get bored."

"If I get bored I can also read some of those books, or do a few experiments."

Lin says "Well then, I guess I will just have to keep you from getting too bored. But if you do end up running off on an adventure, you had better take me with you."

"That's a deal, and don't worry, I have plenty of ideas for how you can keep me from getting bored."

Lin says "Well, you can tell me about those once the kids are asleep."

In response, I just smile at her, then I go back to playing with the kids. With Nala and Albion shrunk down, they can roughhouse with Mulan and Mushu on equal terms. This greatly expands their play, not to mention that it is absolutely adorable.

I can't wait until we get back to the peninsula and all the kids are able to play like this. It will be a level of cuteness that even deities could not handle, especially goddesses. In fact, it should be very useful the next time that I get in trouble with Seronia and Krenocia.

Speaking of the goddesses, I should probably figure out what to ask for for my next reward. While there are a lot of things I could ask for, I need to think of something they can do easily. Otherwise, if what I ask requires them to use too much power, it will weaken them.

That would be counterproductive considering all the work I have put in to make them stronger. I should probably wait and see how their thieving on the main continent goes. Maybe they will get stronger, or come back with something that I could use.

Right now, there isn't anything that I really need, I am doing fairly well on my own. The only thing I can think of would be a new class once I hit level twenty. Although, after talking with Lin recently, I would kind of like to get mage or something like it.

The problem with that is that neither of the goddesses has the magic domain. I am pretty sure one of them would need to have that domain to be able to make me a mage. Then again, if I could find and kill the avatar of a deity of magic, that should work.

However, it would have to be a primary avatar and from what I have learned it is rare for a deity to make one. Maybe, with Lin's help, I could come up with a spell to locate primary avatars. If I could do that, I could hunt them specifically to make the goddesses stronger.

Not to mention, eating their hearts would give me evolution points so I could see what they do. I don't really have enough mana to gate back to the main continent from the peninsula, but Lin does. With her help, it might just be possible, but that is something to think more about later.

Lin says "You have been zoned out for a while. What are you thinking about?"

"Oh, sorry. I was just considering some plans for after we reach the peninsula."

Lin says "Care to share?"

"Well, originally I didn't think I would be able to return to the main continent because I can't gate that far. You, on the other hand, have more than enough mana to reach that far."

Lin says "Yes, I do. I have also been thinking of possible ways to improve the gate spell."

"Um, yeah, I guess the spell I use is fairly primitive. What have you thought of so far? Maybe I can help."

I continue playing with the kids, but at the same time Lin and I start talking about magic. While I am not able to compare to her when it comes to knowledge of magic, I still have some ideas. However, my ideas come from anime and manga, but Lin is capable of figuring out how to use them.

After discussing it for a while, Lin starts experimenting with the ideas and changes the gate spell. Before, it was basically using pure mana to tunnel through space to the destination. Lin's ideas involve adding structure to the spell so less mana is wasted.

This decreases the amount of mana needed, but it also increases the casting time. The idea I give her is to send mana to the destination and create the gate from both sides. Of course, I actually have no idea how to do that, but Lin comes up with a way.

I could probably do it just by using mana and intention, but it would be more expensive. Lin has the knowledge and intelligence to come up with a proper way to use my idea. However, it is going to take a while for her to figure everything out and test things.

Even though it is a lot of work, Lin is obviously having a lot of fun experimenting. What is unfair is that she can gain experience from doing this kind of thing. If I could gain experience from experimenting I would probably already be level twenty or higher.

Of course, that would encourage me to experiment even more, which is the goddesses' worst nightmare. Hopefully, they won't think of that when I try to convince them to let me gain the mage class. Otherwise, there is no way that they will help me to become a mage.
