The spinning stops with a blinding flash and then I feel myself falling for a second. My feet hit soft squishy ground and I can feel the sunlight hitting me. So at least the gate doesn't seem to have taken me anywhere too hostile.
My biggest fear was that it would take me somewhere like the plane of fire. That is one of the few things I wouldn't be confident of surviving, at least not for long. After a couple of minutes of blinking I manage to recover some of my sight.
The first thing I see is a wall of green all around me, I am in a small clearing surrounded by jungle. What worries me is that no matter where I look I don't see any sign of a portal. If there is no portal on this side I have no way back and no idea where I am either.
"Krenocia, Seronia, can you hear me?"
Both say "Yes."
Seronia says "Why, what have you done now?"
"I went through a portal and I wanted to make sure I was still on the same world. By the way, can you sense where I am?"
Seronia says "What the...!!!"
Krenocia says "How did you?!?!"
"I am going to take a wild guess and say that means I am in trouble."
Seronia says "You are on a large island, it is bigger than the peninsula."
"I sense a 'but' coming."
Krenocia says "The island is on the far side of the main continent from the peninsula."
"So, I am thousands of miles away?"
Seronia says "Over ten thousand miles, at least."
Krenocia says "I suggest you use the portal to return!"
"Great idea. There is just one problem. There is no portal on this side!"
Seronia says "So you are trapped?"
Krenocia says "Are you sure there isn't another portal? They should only work in pairs?"
"Is it possible for the other portal to not be in the area I arrived at?"
Krenocia says "It shouldn't be, unless the portal is broken."
Seronia says "Or if the origin portal ran out of power before the transfer was complete."
"So, it may still be somewhere on this island?"
Seronia says "It is possible."
"Alright, guess I will have to explore."
Krenocia says "It is important that you find it! If you have to cross the continent, chances are you won't make it back in time for the war!"

"Is the main continent really that vast?"
Seronia says "At top speed it would take you over a year to cross it. And that is only if you don't get sidetracked."
"Alright, point taken. I will talk to you again once I've explored."
Once again it would seem my curiosity has gotten me into trouble with the goddesses. Since I am here now, I may as well take a look around, who knows what I might find. Spreading my wings I fly straight up until I am above the tops of the trees.
There are trees as far as I can see to the east, west, and north, only to the south can I see an end to them. So I go back down and land in the clearing, then start walking to the south. The jungle is full of life, color and movement making my senses twitch constantly.
Every colorful bug, snake, or lizard that moves draws my attention, watching for threats. As I walk I am expecting an attack at any time, being in unknown territory has me on edge. Luckily, because of that, when an attack does come I am ready for it.
The attack starts with a bunch of darts flying at me out of the foliage, which I barely manage to avoid. Then once the darts miss a bunch of small lizardmen come charging at me with primitive spears. They are between three and four feet tall, covered with neon blue scales.
Despite only being about as tall as my waist, they charge at me fearlessly. Even as I cut them down with Blitz, the others just keep coming at me until all of them are dead. They had no real skill and showed absolutely no knowledge of tactics.

However, the darts they fired at me when they first attacked turn out to be poisoned. Or at least, I think the thick green fluid on the tips of the darts is poison. It would seem that this jungle is not a friendly place, not that I really expected it to be.
Nothing else attacks me as I continue moving south, not that I relax at all. Then between one step and the next the jungle ends and I find myself on a beautiful white sand beach. With the white blue waters just beyond the sand it is a picture perfect place.
If it was possible I would build myself a hut and take a vacation here for a while. It would be even better if I could bring the others here for a vacation. However, neither one is possible, I can't even spare more than a few minutes to enjoy the view.
Then I spot a very large shadow moving through the water and change my mind. A beach is no fun if you can't go into the water, and I don't plan to gamble on if whatever that was can come on land. So I turn east and start following the beach, hoping to find signs of the elves.
At this point finding them is my best bet to find the portal, searching the jungle would take years. Not to mention, if I can find other elves, Core would probably be very happy. Even if they are not friendly, just knowing she isn't the only one left would make her happy.
As I walk I watch both the edge of the jungle and the water for any threats. Even though I occasionally look up I still get taken by surprise by the attack from above and behind me. The thing hits me, wraps its body around me, and bites into my shoulder.
It tries to crush me with its body, but when that doesn't work it tries to electrocute me. All that does is heal my wounds, but the thing doesn't know that. When I flex my muscles to try and free myself I end up ripping the thing into multiple pieces.
Now that it is off me I can take a better look at it, it looks like an eel with wings. Its body is wet, so I am guessing it came out of the water to attack me. Taking a closer look, the wings are fixed, meaning all it can do is glide.
That explains why I didn't hear it coming, but I also didn't sense anything which is odd. Looking around I spot several more jump out of the water and glide towards me. Since the first one's bite went right through my armor I am going to try to avoid any more bites.
As they glide towards me I draw Blitz and get ready, when they are close enough I start cutting them out of the air. Since they are gliding they are not very maneuverable, so I don't have much problem killing them all. Once they are dead I look around but I don't see anything else coming to attack me.

When the sun starts to set I find a tree to climb, then I have some dinner. As I eat I watch some small mammals playing, they look similar to squirrels just without the bushy tail. They are running around on the branches, chasing each other almost like they are playing tag.
