Ep. 934 Journey to the West Part 18

She is being quite calm about it, but Albion is still freaking out a little bit. That is probably because he is still worried that he did something wrong. At least he is calmer than he was when she was still stuck in the cocoon.

Mulan and Mushu woke up a while ago and have been playing on the cat tree. They only come down when they see that Nala has changed and want to get a closer look. Nala is currently chasing her own tail trying to get a better look at the flame on the end.

Lin and I can't help laughing at their antics, especially since the babies are getting underfoot. Nala is having to avoid stepping on them as she is trying to catch her tail. It looks like she is trying to dance and they are trying to catch her paws.

Eventually, when I feel that I have laughed enough, I pull out a mirror so Nala can look at herself. Of course, Mulan and Mushu don't give up and when Nala stops moving they start climbing her. Mushu even manages to climb to Nala's head and chew on one of her horns.

Albion says "Dad, shouldn't Nala be able to talk now?"

"No, she will probably need to rank up a time or two first. But that shouldn't take her long. The first couple of ranks are the easiest."

Albion says "Can I help her with that?"

"No, it is better if she does it herself. Don't worry, you helped her through the hardest part."

Suddenly we all hear a loud rumbling sound and then Nala turns to whine at me. She is probably starving, so I start taking out drake meat, but she doesn't let me cook it. She takes it from me and eats it raw, then she begs for more until she has eaten half her body weight.

Then she uses the collar to shrink down, climbs up into the fire pit, curls up, and goes to sleep. If Nala is going to start sleeping in the fire pit with the babies, Albion is going to be left out. He is the only one out of the four of them that isn't immune to fire and that could be a problem.

"Albion, come here, let me look at your collar."

Albion says "Sure, dad."

Lin says "Ash, I'm curious. Since you can make collars so easily, why did you ask the goddesses to make them?"

"When I asked for them I didn't have the skills to make them. Before I met you, all my magical skills were self-taught. My enchanting has improved a lot thanks to you."

Lin says "Really? How long ago did you ask for the collars?"

"I'm pretty sure it was before I came through the gate, so maybe four months or so?"

Lin says "You have become this good at enchanting in such a short time?! It took me years to learn enchanting!"

"I am only good at weaving the enchantments. My magical knowledge is still lacking. That is why I have to keep asking you about spells."

Lin says "Actually, I really enjoy that. It makes me feel that I am useful to you."

"You are useful to me and not just for your knowledge. I am not good at saying the things that I should say, but I hope you know that I am really glad that I met you."

Lin says "I was pretty sure, but it is nice to hear it directly."

"I'm sorry, I will try to be better about that kind of thing."

Albion says "Dad, can you let go of me now?"

"Oh, sorry."

Lin says "What did you find out about the collar?"

"It is enchanted with divine energy, which I can work with, but there is no room for additional enchantments."

Lin says "What did you want to add to it?"

"I wanted to add fire immunity for Albion so he doesn't get burned or left out. My options now are either alter the collar to add more room, or make something else."

Lin says "I would make something else. That way you can enchant it normally instead of having to use divine power."

"That's basically what I was thinking, but the question is what to make?"

Lin says "What about horseshoes?"

"Do you know how to make horseshoes? Because I don't. I mean I know what they are and even their basic shape, but I don't know how they attach to the hoof or how to not hurt Albion."

Lin says "No, I don't know how they are made. I didn't even think of that."

"However, a set of four anklets could work just as well. That would provide more than enough room for enchantments."

Lin says "Don't forget to make them change size with him."

"Right, otherwise they would fall off every time he shrank."

Lin says "What are you going to make them out of?"

"This mana rich silver I found. It will allow me to add some extra enchantments."

Lin says "Alright. Is there anything I can help with?"

"Yeah, two things. Do you know how to tie items together to make a set? Also, do you know a spell to make something float?"

Lin says "The answer to both is yes."

By the time she is done teaching me it is about time for dinner so I don't make the items right away. Instead I take out some drake meat and start cooking it for the four of us. Albion won't eat it and Nala is still sound asleep in the fire pit and will probably sleep until morning.

Once the meat is cooked I call the kids over and Lin starts handing out side dishes. We all start eating and as I am eating I am planning out the enchantments for Albion. Other than the fire immunity and the ability to change size I plan to add floating.

While it won't be enough to let Albion fly, it will be enough for him to run practically anywhere. Even running across water should be no problem for him if the enchantment works right. As soon as I am done eating I start working on making the set of four anklets.

Making them is as easy as shaping the silver with a little bit of mana, then I start enchanting them. First comes the linking enchantment to make them a set, then the fire immunity. Only once I make sure those are in place do I start experimenting with the floating.

The bonus of them being a set is I can split the enchantment into four pieces. Of course that means the enchantment won't work if he loses just one of the anklets. However, spreading the enchantment over four pieces increases its effect so I think it is worth it.

When the floating enchantment is done there is still some space left over. With that extra space I decide to add an enchantment to boost Albion's running speed. Finally I lock the enchantments in, which will protect them from being dispelled.
