Standing at the wheel I can sense every part of the ship and nothing at all is wrong. However, that doesn't stop me from worrying, and from the looks of the others I'm not the only one. Stillwater and Silverstream look the most worried, but they are the leaders after all.
As the Queen slices through the waves and remains stable my worries lessen. They probably won't completely go away until the ship has survived its first storm. To help them relax I start teaching Brightfire, Silverstream, and Stillwater how to control the ship.
After all, I don't want to be stuck steering the ship all day and all night. They are also going to be helping me figure out the charts and how to navigate. To make staying on course easier I make and enchant a compass to place near the wheel.
In fact, most of the first day of travel I am coming up with little things to add to make life easier. The biggest project of the day is another thing I didn't think of, bathrooms. Luckily, magic is able to make up for my lack of knowledge in plumbing, I even make crude showers.
Even though they are crude, morale instantly goes up once they are completed. The elves are used to cleaning themselves in streams and such, meaning cold water. The water in the showers is warmed by magic, making me the most popular person on the ship.
The only person who doesn't appreciate the showers is Nala, she doesn't like baths. Albion on the other hand absolutely loves them and has fun teasing Nala. The night passes uneventfully and I am really satisfied with the ship's speed.
If I am reading the charts right, at our current speed we will reach our destination within the week. Of course, I am not expecting things to go that smoothly, they never do. Even if there are no problems with the ship itself, the ocean can provide plenty of challenges.
With that in mind I decide to spend the day running drills and training people. I quickly come to realize that the ship is too big, even my shouts don't reach most of the ship. Unfortunately, I don't have the right materials to make something to deal with this.
Luckily, when I ask the elven crafters, they do have the materials I need. In fact, they have a decent amount so I can make more than one bell for the ship. One will go by the wheel, one in the kitchen for the chefs, and the last will go in the bottom deck.
The first one will have two different rings, one to sound the alarm and the other to alert the sailors. The one in the kitchen is simply to announce when meals are ready. The one in the bottom deck is so that the lookouts can raise the alarm if they spot a monster attacking.
Thanks to the entire ship already being enchanted it is easy to make the bells heard everywhere. The tricky part is making it so that whoever is ringing the bell can choose where it is heard. Luckily, magic is very responsive to intent so I can use that to do what I need.

Even while I am making and enchanting the bells I still continue running drills for the crew. Once the bells are done and in place I start using them so everyone can get used to it. Having the bells won't do any good if everyone doesn't know what the different rings mean.
It is especially important that Brightfire, Stillwater, and Silverstream memorize all of the signals. Once I figure out all the different signals I spend a few hours drilling the three of them along with the crew. All in all, I think that the bells worked out pretty well, it is much better than trying to shout.
After dinner I create a soulscape and play with the kids for a few hours. Then I go to sleep since it has been a while since I slept, but I get woken up by the bell ringing. Since it is ringing in the pattern for an attack I jump up and rush out onto deck.
However, when I get outside I don't see any sign of an attack, but everyone else is looking around. That is when I figure out that the alarm must have been set off by the lookouts in the bottom deck. Just as I figure that out, large tentacles emerge from the ocean and grab hold of the ship.
While I could probably deal with this fairly easily, I decide to wait for a bit. First, I want to see how the twenty elven warriors that Stillwater chose handle themselves. I am not too worried about this beast being able to damage the ship, and if it does I can repair it.
"Seronia, can the elves gain levels yet?"
Seronia says "Yes, they should be able to. Why?"
"I wanted to check before I start helping them level up."
Seronia says "About eighty percent of the elves now worship us, those elves can level up."
"Krenocia once taught me how to look for the mark on a soul to tell a real priest from a fake one. Is there a way to tell who is a follower and who isn't?"
Seronia says "Yes, it is the same. Only the mark is fainter and more subtle."
"Alright, thank you."
Seronia says "No problem."
After looking carefully I am able to find the mark that Seronia told me about. As she said it is very hard to spot, but once I get the hang of it, it isn't too bad. To my relief the twenty warriors all have the mark on their souls meaning they should be able to level up.
They are currently attacking the tentacles of the beast and they aren't doing too bad. Of course, they aren't going to be able to kill it like this, its main body is still below the ship. While they can hurt it by attacking the tentacles, they can't kill it unless they kill the main body.
If it takes enough damage to its tentacles it will probably retreat, but it won't die. As I am thinking about what I want to do I see Brightfire come out and join the fight. She ignores the tentacles and starts firing lightning arrows into the water.
The water disperses some of the lightning, but she is still able to damage the main body. I quietly grab hold of the main body with my mana and prevent it from running away. Other than that, I don't do anything to interfere with the fighting.
It takes a while but with Brightfire's help they do eventually manage to kill the beast. Instead of cheering the warriors all have shocked looks and are staring into space. They should have gotten the notification that they can level up and select a class.
"Brightfire, they could probably use some advice on leveling up."
Brightfire says "Oh! Right! I will help them!"
