Selona says "Alone?!"
"Yeah, that is what I am used to. Besides, no one else can keep up with me."
Raindrop says "That isn't entirely true!"
"Raindrop!"
Shard says "An elf!!"
"Relax! She is on our side!"
Selona says "Is that a unicorn?!"
When I hear Selona's comment I turn and take a look at Raindrop's mount. Sure enough, she is riding on a unicorn, just a glance is enough for me to sense the power coming from it. Although, for some reason I don't feel threatened by the unicorn, if anything it feels friendly.
"So, you want to go hunting with me?"
Raindrop says "Yes. Don't worry about us keeping up!"
"Alright."
Before leaving I tell Roland all the commands my troop is trained to respond to. I also explain to him how to best make use of them, I will leave him to decide specific tactics. Then once I am satisfied that he understands I take off running ahead of the army.
It only takes a few seconds before Raindrop pulls up next to me, but there is a look of surprise on her face as she does. The unicorn is galloping to match my pace but it doesn't seem to be straining at all. It is obviously faster than me but I find myself wondering who would win a race if I had Lizzy here.
Raindrop says "How are you so fast? Most people can't even match a unicorn's walking speed!"
Unicorn says "It is because he isn't a mortal creature. He is like me!"
Raindrop says "Wait! Are you saying Ash is a sacred creature?"
Unicorn says "Yes! I don't know how but there is no mistaking it!"
Raindrop says "Ash? What are you exactly?"
"Um, that is kind of hard to explain!"
Unicorn says "I can tell that he is not complete. He is still very young as my kind judges things."
"The simplest way I can put it would be that I was sent to this world to save this kingdom as a kind of test."
Raindrop says "A test? Does that mean you will leave once the invasion is over?"
Stolen novel; please report.
"Yes."
Raindrop says "That's too bad. I was looking forward to seeing what you would do as the king!"
"No, thank you! I will one day be king of my own people, but not yet. Besides, I wouldn't make a good king for humans!"
Unicorn says "I smell goblins!"
As soon as the unicorn mentions it I realize that I can smell them too, now that I am paying attention. The conversation had me completely distracted, but now that I am paying attention I can also hear sounds of combat. So I turn off the path and run towards the sounds and find a small hill surrounded by several hundred goblins.
At the top of the hill is a group of adventurers, eight of them, although two are down on the ground. The remaining six are surrounding them and fighting for their lives against the goblins. Even as I am running towards the goblins, arrows start raining down on them.
Every single arrow takes the life of a goblin and Raindrop is firing two arrows per second. She is aiming at the goblins at the top of the hill to take some of the pressure off of the adventurers. Leaving those at the bottom for me to deal with, which is perfect since I want to try my new skill.
'Lightning Wave!'
As I bring my sword down lightning gathers around it and then rushes out in front of me. It doesn't cover a huge area but everywhere it does cover the goblins die. Goblins are small so a decent amount are within the spell's effect, about twenty.
Of course that draws attention and the goblins nearby become aware of my presence. Of course whether they are aware of me or not doesn't matter, they are going to die either way. After using lightning wave several times I find that it is extremely effective for the cost and I can't wait to see it level up.
Between my sword and Raindrop's arrows the goblins die really quickly. They soon lose over half their number and turn to run away, so I charge into them and use lion's rage. Thanks to the taunt effect not a single goblin manages to get away.
Once the last goblin is dead I head up the hill to see how the adventurers are doing. All of them are wounded but the two on the ground are close to death, and one of them seems to be the group's healer. So I kneel down and use sacred touch on both of them, which heals them fully.
The adventurers are shocked and silent and for a second I am surprised as well. I have gotten used to my heal not even recovering a quarter of my HP. But I am not human, my HP is far beyond what a human can have and this reminds me of that fact.
As I get up and head down the hill to rejoin Raindrop I hear the adventurers behind me shouting their thanks. I turn and give them a wave before joining Raindrop and continuing our trek. Now that I am aware the enemy has forces this far into the kingdom I pay a lot more attention to my surroundings.
Raindrop says "What was all the shouting about?"
"Oh, I healed the two adventurers that were close to death."
Raindrop says "You can heal too?"
"Yeah."
Raindrop says "Is there anything you can't do?"
"I can't fly."
Unicorn says "Yet."
"Huh?"
Unicorn says "You can't fly, yet."
"Are you saying I will be able to fly at some point?"
Unicorn says "It is entirely possible."
Raindrop says "You never know what the future holds is what he means, I think."
"Well, that is true. I never would have predicted everything that has happened to me so far."
Raindrop says "If we get the chance I would love to hear your story!"
"I doubt you would believe it even if I told you."
Before Raindrop can answer we are interrupted by the sound of a roar. It came from some trees off to our left so I turn and head that way with Raindrop following behind me. As I enter the trees I hear a goblin scream so I draw my sword and pick up the pace.
