I probably won't have enough time to read all of them, but it is a good use of my time. Luckily, I already know quite a bit about golems so there is a lot of information that I can skip. Thanks to that, I have gotten through a dozen books when Yui tells me that Lin and Myria are awake.

I immediately put my book down and head for the bedroom, but the girls aren't there. I am about to head to the dining room when I hear splashing from the bathroom. When I walk in to check, I find the both of them in the bath, so I quickly join them.

When we are done playing around, we get dressed and gate to the new city. Then I drop shapeshift, equip my saddle, and take off once Lin and Myria are secured. It only takes me a little over a half of an hour to fly to the frontline military base.

It is built close to the border with the empire and is one of the forts we built to defend against slavers. Leonarr rushes out as I am landing in the courtyard and everyone in sight kneels. Once the girls have dismounted, I shapeshift and salute the soldiers.

"Leonarr, the spell should already be in effect. Have there been any movements yet?"

Leonarr says "There have been a few troop movements near the capital, but nothing else yet."

"Alright. Keep a close eye on things. We will begin as soon as the chaos shows signs of spreading."

Myria says "Ash, how sure are you that this is going to work?"

"Pretty sure. There is no way that the demons have gotten to everyone. They would have only paid attention to people in power. The demons being revealed to others will cause chaos. It has to."

Lin says "What if it doesn't? What if they manage to keep it quiet?"

"Then I will just find another way to drag the empire into chaos. I've already said that I am going to save our people and I won't go back on that."

Myria says "I love that you call them our people! I am with you, even if it means doing something reckless!"

Lin says "Don't encourage him! He is more than capable of doing something stupid all on his own."

"Let's just wait and see if the spell works. If it doesn't, then we will figure something else out together."

Lin says "Okay, sounds good. What are we going to do while we wait?"

"I'm planning to just wait here for more reports to come in. You can head back to the library if you want. Myria is enough to keep an eye on me."

Lin says "What if I wanted to spend more time with you?"

"You are welcome to, of course. You just have Bella and an entire library of books waiting for you."

Lin says "I do love reading, but I love you more. I thought I had already proved that. Wait, what does Bella have to do with it? I have noticed that you avoid us when we are together. Don't tell me, are you thinking that I prefer Bella to you?!"

I instantly turn to throw a glare at Myria.

Myria says "Don't look at me! I didn't say a thing! You are just that obvious, idiot!"

Lin says "You mean that I was right?! Ash, you idiot! We need to discuss this in private. Leonarr, is there a room we can use?"

Leonarr jumps and says "Yes! Right this way, my queen!"

We follow Leonarr into the fort and then into a large bedroom that looks out of place. It is a waste of space for a fort, so they must have set it up just for me. Leonarr runs away just as soon as he can and Myria closes and locks the door behind him.

Lin says "Alright, just what is going on? I thought that you said you wouldn't be jealous of Bella?"

Myria says "As far as I can tell, it is not jealousy. It is more like he thinks that he isn't as worthy as her or something."

Lin says "Ah. This is about your relationships in your previous life isn't it?"

I nod and then shrug, even I don't know for sure what is wrong with me. There is nothing new about that though, I didn't even know there was something wrong. Issues are really good at hiding and then launching sneak attacks when you think everything is fine.

Lin hugs me and says "I like Bella, I enjoy spending time with her. I like Myria and so far everything is going good. I love you and I am going to marry you. I am not marrying anyone else. So please, have a little more faith in me?"

"I have faith in you, that's not it. I don't feel like you are cheating on me."

Lin says "Then what is it? What can I do?"

"There is nothing that you need to do or are doing wrong. This is entirely my own issue and I need to work through it. What you have already said is enough to help me figure it out. I am sorry that I am such a pain."

Lin says "Yeah, you are. You are just lucky that you are cute!"

Lin doesn't give me time to come up with an answer, she grabs my ear and pulls my head down. Then, once she can reach my lips, she gives me a long deep kiss. As soon as she releases me, Myria takes her place and kisses me as well.

Somehow, it turns into a competition between the two of them to see who can kiss me more thoroughly. Not that I mind, in fact the contest is heading in an interesting direction when there is a knock on the door. It is Leonarr with a report, but at that moment I could almost kill him.

Leonarr says "The rats in the capital have reported fighting in the streets and it is not just in one area. It looks like you were right, the chaos is starting."

"Alright. Any scouts that haven't already left should move out. The combat units will wait a bit longer for the chaos to spread. It should affect most cities, even if there are no demons, once the word spreads. Also, ask the rats to watch for reactions from the church."

Leonarr says "Understood!" and leaves.

Myria says "Well, shall we go?"

"Go where?"

Lin says "Aren't you going to charge into the empire and start saving beastmen?"

"No, I wasn't planning to. I was planning to act like a king for once and let my troops take care of things."

Both of them stare at me as if they are waiting for me to tell them that I was joking. I can't really blame them, I normally would just run out to have some fun. In fact, that is what I want to do, but I am trying to keep my promise to avoid adventures.

Lin says "Are you really not going?"

Myria says "Ash, are you feeling alright?"

"I want to, but it is better if I stay here and be ready for any issues that come up. Besides, for now it is better to let those who are good at sneaking do their work."
