When I leave Zachariah's place and return to the castle I find that Lin hasn't returned yet. First, I check on the gardens, which are growing well from what I can see. Then I check on the programming of the gardeners, which is slowly improving.
This time I do find a few small errors, but for now I leave them alone because I can't tell what they do. Although, I do manage to figure out what caused them and improve my knowledge. While I am looking at the programming I add the fact that they have to obey Jarvis.
Next, I take a look at the changes to Jarvis since his programming is more complicated. His programming shows a lot more changes and it takes me a while to go through all of them. Surprisingly, I can't find any errors, but there are a lot of improvements and I learn a lot from them.
The more I learn, the more I realize just how basic my knowledge of programming is. It is amazing that I even got the golems up and running, let alone Jarvis. I am guessing that my magic helped me cheat again, otherwise it never could have worked this well.
Luckily, Jarvis' programming seems to be doing quite well in fixing itself. I think that it will be better if I put off making more golems until my knowledge improves. With the way that Jarvis' program is improving, it shouldn't take too long.
Jarvis says "Maker, Lady Lin has returned."
"Alright. Thank you, Jarvis."
I go to meet Lin and we soon sit down to have dinner together, then I open a soulscape. I make sure to tell everyone that I will be traveling for the next day or two. That way they won't worry too much if I don't open the soulscape during that time.
As usual we watch movies and play games for a few hours before I end the soulscape. Then, while Lin heads to her library to store the new books, I head back to my workshop. Over dinner I realized that I either need to leave the food pouch with Lin or she will have to eat normally.
Since that could expose her to danger, I decided that it is about time I make another food pouch. I am kind of rusty when it comes to working with divine energy, so it takes longer than I expected. The part that causes me the most problems is copying the stored recipes over.
At this point I could probably make some more improvements to it, but I don't have the time. It will have to wait until I have some free time, if I remember about it. Once the new pouch is done, I head upstairs and go looking for Lin.
Lin says "No, you keep it. I can just eat at the restaurant while you are gone."
"This one is yours, I just made it. This way we both have one for when we have to split up for a while. As much as I don't want to, there will be times when we need to be doing different things."
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Lin says "That's true and having a second pouch will make it easier."
"Are you done? Shall we head to bed?"
Lin says "Yes, let's."
We head to bed and since I am going to be traveling I go to sleep when Lin does. In the morning I wake Lin up early to have breakfast with me and then I take to the sky. Once I gain enough altitude I fly south, following the road for the most part.
The first couple of hours are completely boring, but then I spot movement on the road. There is a group of humans riding lizards and they are being chased by demonic beasts. From the blonde hair of the leader I am guessing that it is Shiro and her guards.
The lizards they are riding remind me of Lizzy, just leaner and not as strong. They are six legged just like Lizzy, so maybe they share a common ancestor or something. Then again, Lizzy's race was modified, so maybe these are the original species.
The lizards are fast, so far they are staying ahead of the beasts that are chasing them. The question is if they have the stamina to keep ahead of the beasts or if they will tire first. I could just wait and see, but Shiro gave me a good impression so I guess I should help.
The demonic beasts look like some weird cross between a rabbit and a cat. They even jump forward every few steps which makes it hard to predict their movements. Luckily, I don't have to, I can just drop my spell behind the humans and let the beasts run into it.
Another option would be to fly down closer and use my breath weapon. It feels like all I have been doing lately is using magic, so I decide to go with neither option. Instead, I land behind the humans and use my claws and teeth on the beasts.
I can't remember the last time I fought something physically and I had forgotten how fun it was. The beasts don't hesitate and keep charging at me no matter how many of them die. So, I continue to rip them to shreds until there are none left and I am covered in blood and worse.

Ambassador Shiro says "King Ash, thank you for saving us!"
"You're welcome. Although, you probably could have outrun them."
Ambassador Shiro says "Not really. Our mounts have good top speed, but they can't maintain it for long. Eventually, the demonic beasts would have caught up to us. If their numbers were less it wouldn't have been a problem for us to defeat them."
"Well, in that case I am glad I decided to come down and get some exercise."
Ambassador Shiro says "As am I. The road from here on moves away from the demon lands so we should be safe enough. I don't want to delay your arrival in the capital, but thank you again!"
"No problem. Alright, stay safe."
Taking out the cleaning crystal, I use it to clean the blood off of myself. Then I take to the sky and continue my trip towards the capital. I only stop to eat some lunch, other than that I fly until the sun goes down.
After eating some dinner and resting my wings for a bit, I continue my journey. Since I slept last night I don't actually need to stop since I can see just fine in the dark. While there are a few nocturnal aerial predators, they stay far away from me.
I fly for most of the night and then stop to rest again while I wait for the sun to rise. I should be getting close, but I don't want to approach the capital in the dark. Not only would I be more likely to be attacked, but I also want to get a proper look at it.
