Mina stood next to her boyfriend for what would be the final time in her life. His casket was closed and as the eyes of everyone focused on her, she couldn't help but feel the need to pay the greatest tribute to Blind that she possibly could. 7 months was very short in the grand scheme of things, but they had a lifetime of memories together.
Still, she gazed at the casket.
It was closed due to the gun wound, but she knew he was still as handsome as he was when he was alive.
"Whenever I give a speech," Mina spoke up at last to the crowd. "I always start with a joke. Willy disproved of this greatly, but he couldn't help but smile at his goofy girlfriend and her wacky antics. That's what I loved most about him. He was serious, but he loved someone who was the complete opposite. And doesn't that demonstrate the law of opposite attraction better than a silly defense attorney and a stern prosecutor falling for each other?"
She may have been improv'ing what she was saying, but the words came straight from her heart. Surprisingly, her unorthodox approach caused Blind's parents to look on with approval.
But it only got harder to talk when it came to finality.
"Willy was blinded, but he knew how to dress better than me. His tie always matches his lapel, his trousers were always trimmed and there was never a single hair out of place on his perfect conditioned hair. Me, on the other hand, it was a miracle if I managed to find socks with the same matching cartoons on them."
There were looks of forced smiles. It was getting increasingly hard to smile. Especially for the one having to deliver the speech. The cold wind whipped her face with a gust of the coming winter for the world and her soul.

"When I saw him in court for the first time," Mina sighed. "It was love at first sight...for one of us at least. Maybe I was more focused on his handsomeness at the time, but while his eyes were blind folded, mine were making hearts at him. I still remember that day fondly. Especially since he had saved my life from a deranged Frenchman from New Jersey."
She smiled as she remembered how boldly he stood in front of her, using the ability to see heat signatures as his only guide for defending her from a barrage of knives. She missed that protection, both there and when he'd hold her so tightly in bed.
Mina thrust a trembling hand forward, in her famous attorney, "Connection!" Pose.
"We did battle over the next several cases and even when he was led astray by clients and witnesses with ulterior motives. He never lost the belief in his convictions. And he followed through all the way to the end and..."
Mina gasped.
Someone was making their way down the aisle of folding chairs. Someone she never expected would ever attend William's funeral. Dressed in a dark gown, appropriate for mourning, but with a crimson poof of lioness hair, Ashley Ryan limped down the aisle with her leg in a cast.
Mina had not seen Ashley since the day of the carnage. The day that Blind had saved her from the sniper attack.
Ashley reached the front of the procession and sat down in a chair, laying her crutches aside. She did not grin or smirk at the man who had jilted her in such a way that it extended to her hatred of Mina. She bent her head in sorrow just like everyone else.
Immediately, Ashley's presence caused Mina to unfreeze. She had thought of the perfect line to deliver to close out her case.
With tears streaming down her face, she continued to thrust her hand forward like she was from Eagle Attorney.
"From the moment I met him to our final time together, William Justice has demonstrated to me, that the only thing stronger than truth and justice is the power of love itself. And I hope that no one has any objections to that."
Even if she expected Ashley to try and spite her, the lioness did not.
In fact, she was the first one to clap. Applause from everyone else followed.
In the very end, Mina knew she had done justice for her boyfriend. She was completely unsure of what the future would hold in the mire of her deep dark depression, but for now, Willy shined a light on her soul.
