Gun shots reverberated in the bathroom and before Mina knew, someone was lying on the floor. Unfortunately, it was not who she had in mind...in fact, it was the last person she wanted.
"Blind!" she shrieked so loudly, that even Sev jumped.
Her man lay on the ground, a pool of blood spilling onto the floor behind him.
She immediately remembered her self-defense class and slammed her elbow right in his gut. As he doubled over, she seized his hand gun and pointed it.
"Don't move!" she demanded, tears in her eyes.
Much to her surprise, the nihilistic Sev raised his hands. But she could not see his eyes behind his blood red mask.
She slowly inched herself closer and closer to Blind's body. Sev sneered at her. "Go ahead. Kill me. I deserve it for what I've done, haven't I?"
Mina's eyes flared. She was inches away from pulling the trigger and killing him. "You...you don't know how much I want to..."
Sev was silent for a moment, but his chuckles cut through the air like knives. "Too bad for you, because even if you kill me, I've already done my life's work. I punished Ashley and I killed Mr. Perfect! I'd say that's a life well lived."
Mina felt she was powerless, even when holding a fire arm. She could easily punish him and take away his life, but death would only make him more satisfied with awful himself. Instead, she compromised.

*Bang*
Sev collapsed to the ground, a bullet through his leg. He cursed and screamed, but she ignored his cries. Instead, she threw the gun aside and ran straight to her man.
People spilled out into the hallway like an open wound and surrounded her. Many had sorry looks in their eyes seeing who had been on the receiving end of the bullet. William Justice was a hero to the end, even if his record had gotten a bit checkered towards the end of his prosecution.
Mina kneeled over and inspected her boyfriend. His red suit darkened with blood over his chest. He looked up at Mina. He choked, but managed a smile.
He reached a chocolate finger up and touched her chest.
"A fast flighty heart. Flighty and ditzy but deeply kind," he said. "I may be blind...but I'd recognize that heartbeat anywhere..."
"C'mon...Willy," Mina said, managing an uneasy smile. She looked into his visor, but only saw her own tearing brown eyes. "You're going to be okay...Willy."
She seized his hand and closed her fingers around it. "We're going to go to the Awesome clinic. I'll be there with you...every step of the way."
"Like hell..." Blind remarked. "Like hell you're taking me to that...obnoxious doctor. I'd rather..."
Upon sensing Mina's blood run cold, he stopped talking.
"I did my duty..." Blind said softly. "I fought for justice...and the one I loved ..."
Blind paused with his vitals fading. "I fought for you, Mi-Mi."
Normally, Mina would have swooned at her self-invented pet name, but her heart dropped. She watched as her boyfriend of seven months eased into a still position with a smile on his face. Mina let out a loud sob and threw her body over his.
Except to call the paramedics, nobody moved. Everyone just watched as a young woman hugged her boyfriend for the last time.
She didn't care if he had helped the Aura. In his last moments, he was a true and just prosecutor...and boyfriend.
