Chapter 112: Secrets Aren't Fun

Mina was the most excited she had ever been since Blind Justice first asked her on a date. Despite having gone out for a month, the very formal and reserved William had not asked to sleep over at her apartment even if she deeply wanted him too. It was rare for a man to be so formal these days with a girl he dated, but Blind seemed to be quite the conservative dater.

That all changed tonight.

Mina anxiously raided the snack cabinet in the Lawyering Co. in search of treats just as sweet as this moment. Unfortunately, she only found month old corn chips, salted and stale, but hey, it was better than nothing.

She bounced happily back to the bean bags where Blind had removed his coat to reveal a jet black tank top and extra toned arms.

"Hubba hubba!" Mina swooned "Finally I see what's up your sleeves and you're really packing some guns!"

Blind chuckled and flexed for her. "Luckily these kind of fire arms aren't illegal."

Mina crouched down and smirked. "I'd still arrest you anyway...in the name of L-U-V!"

The two shared a laugh and Mina was so happy they were being cornier than her corn chips. (Though nowhere as stale!)

Mina threw herself backwards into his arms and together, they relaxed on the trendy Ninja Kitty beanbag together. It was gonna be one heckuva a sweet nigher for her. She crinkled the bag of chips and Blind inquired her, "What did you bring us, my dear?"

"The only thing left in the cabinet! Corn chips! I think Raven forgot to go shopping..."

Mina paused. "Raven..." she said wistfully. "I can't stop thinking about him. I really hope he's okay...He doesn't seem like himself anymore."

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

Blind ran his smooth hands through her long hair. "You mean the mayor, Ivor Ebony?"

Mina shook her head and grimaced. "I hardly believe that's his name. I mean who else could he be? Just because he has a mustache doesn't make him a different person."

Blind nodded from behind her. "Yeah, from what I've seen and heard, he just seems to be playing a role."

Mina's eyes went wide and she turned to look into Blind's...blindfolded face. "How do you know he is? What did he say to you the day you stepped down?"

Mina's utmost curiosity was greeted with total silence from the silent ex-prosecutor. That only lended to means fervent curiosity all the more. "Willy. He told you to step down as prosecutor and you did after he whispered something. How come you haven't told me what he said?"

Sensing his girlfriend's pout, Blind's nose wrinkled but he remained silent. "I don't believe I can tell you, darling."

"But why?" Mina whined. "You said you would. Don't tell me you're keeping secrets from me, one month into our relationship."

Blind's few words dwindled into complete silence.

"Come on!" Mina said, getting a little annoyed by her behavior. "When I was avoiding you because I was still mourning Chad, I told you why when you asked. Please don't do this to me!"

At last, Blind spoke, but his words weren't becoming or what she desired. "Look, sweetheart," he said, at last. "I really just couldn't let it out that...Ivor says he knows who the bastard is who blinded me."

"But why?" Mina asked with questions in her eyes. "Why wouldn't you tell me that! That's like super mega ultra important!"

Blind turned his head. "I just didn't want to involve you in this. This is my personal mission. I don't someone as sweet and kindhearted as you involved in my need for revenge."

Mina's heart sank. She didn't want to admit it, but William "Blind" Justice had really disappointed her. She wanted to be a big part in his life. But he still felt the need to keep things from her.

Secrets weren't fun...even when they were shared with everyone.

"Okay..." She said, trying her best to forget everything. "Let's just enjoy the rest of the night before we have to head down to the station tomorrow. She cracked open the bag and crunched hard chips as salty as she was.

For the rest of the night, she tried to forget this, but some secrets weren't as easily forgotten once they were divulged.
