Mina was amazed how quickly Himbolake's manager went from stern Ms. Cilan to the starstruck Whitney fanclub stan, Penny. Even her face had gone from icy and emotionless to flighty and concerned. For all Mina knew, the real Hammy award winning actress this year was Penny because she had managed to play her role expertly, and managed to trick everyone.
"Sabotage..." Mina asked, feeling like she was talking to an entirely different person. "Mr. Himbolake was trying to sabotage Whitney's career? But why...wait!"
Mina's eyes widened upon realizing why. Both her and Penny exclaimed something at the same time. "You're Poison!"
Mina knew they weren't calling each other poison but rather, 'You're Poison' was Whitney's memoir she had written and named after her hit song Poison.
And the person she was calling poison was none other than her ex, Dustin, who had managed to maintain an extremely squeaky clean image otherwise. The tabloids had dubbed Dustin Himbolake the "Non Stick Frying Man" due to his ability to slip past controversy like butter in a frying pan.
This memoir was the first time that Dustin had come off looking quite jerky and self centered. His relationship was so controlling with Whitney, that he often demanded her to hold up mirrors in front of her face so he could say romantic words to his own face. He was Narcissus as a boy-band member in a metro suit.
Mina had read parts of the memoir at Barney and Chivalrous, the local book store in Business Park but she wished to her fond memories of Dustin's music to be untainted so she has put it aside and tried to keep it that way. But much like Himbolake itself, she could no longer run from the past. She had to address it head on.
Penny crossed her arms and pouted. Her normally monotone voice raising and lowering dramatically. "Ever since that memoir dropped, Dustin started acting differently. He called Whitney and started getting friendly with her again. It was soooooo weird and gross and as her devoted manager and number one fangirl, I realized this all stunk to high heavens."

"It is kinda sussy," Mina agreed. "I'm kind of surprised he did that and the tabloids never even mentioned that."
Penny scowled, balling up her fists with a strange amount of passion. "Dustin managed to get Whitney to agree to doing a Duper Bowl performance with her and that's when I decided that I had to figure out what was going on with him. I resigned as Whitney's manager and noticing there was a job opening as Dustin's manager, I straight up applied!"
"And he took you in..." Mina asked. "Knowing who you were?"
Penny smirked. "At first he said, no way, Jose....or I mean, no way, Penny, but when I promised him a view into Whitney's inner sanctum, he couldn't resist."
"My lawd," Mina remarked. "You are one shrewd fangirl."
Penny Cilan beamed proudly. "I'm a fangirl on a mission! And even though I despised Dustin with my whole being, ("The one thing that's obvious in this case," Mina mumbled rolling her eyes.") I still managed to be his manager!"
Suddenly, Penny's eyes grew red and watery and she started to sob. Showcasing more emotion in the last five minutes than she had in all of Mina's time knowing her.
"But now...Dustin killed my pop princess and framed me....it's such cruel irony for a number one fangirl!"
Mina was still debating whether she should take Penny's words at face value. Her sudden heel-face turn was amazing and completely convincing, but it didn't explain one thing.
"Penny..." Mina asked. "If I do decide to believe you...how can you explain how your hands were on the murder weapon?"
"The mints?" Penny said. "Dustin loves those Take My Breath Away mints. You won't believe how often I had to feed him them...by hand."
"Ewww and a half..." Mina said imagining Penny spoon feeding Dustin like a baby. "So you think Dustin used one of the boxes you touched to poison Whitney?"
"Yes!" Penny exclaimed. "Please Miss Attorney Girl. I'm begging you. Please find out how he did it."
"Well..." Mina said frowning at her. "I am his attorney...not yours..."
Penny started bawling on obnoxiously loud. "I'm sooorrrrrry I was mean to you!"
Mina winked and flashed her a thumbs up. "That's more like it! A little groveling and admitting you're wrong goes a long way. Like Whitney would sing in her hit song, I think it's time to hit up Dustin 'one more time'!"
