Raven gathered what was left of his manhood and rose from the gravel.
"I told you this place was off limits," O'Law answered proudly. "I was doing you a big favor by keeping you away from the person suing the pants off your corrupt client!"
"Thanks for the warning, chiefy!" he said glaring at her. "I just wish ya could have given me a cup to protect my dignity."
"You never had any to start with," O'Law said, and she ran her hand across her truncheon. "Now skedaddle and let the big girls and boys in blue handle this."
Mina shook her head. "No way. We're looking for witnesses here to testify in favor of Monty."
"Well," Rita said, crossing her arms. "You ain't gonna find anyone here. There's nobody here but an angry manager, members of the not-so-free press and janitors. And none of them are friendly to your cause."
"We'll see about that," Mina said, as Raven straightened his trousers. "Come on Raven! We have a whole studio to explore!"
Raven waddled after her as the two entered the gold studded doors of Gollywood Studios.
The lobby had towering ceilings, blackened windows, star spangled carpets and a man in a grey jumpsuit who swept the floor of crumbs from the Goode gala from a few nights ago. His profile was visible: a middle aged gentleman, he sported a curly white mustache and goat beard. There was something about his wrinkled face that was familiar to Mina, but the amount of hair on his face obscured his lips.
Mina tapped her butterfly necklace and her eyes glinted. "Of course. We'll ask the cleaning staff. Ritzy people tend to neglect them and don't realize what they see."
"That's my girl," Raven said with a grin. "Always so perceptive and sharp, unless there's a handsome guy involved."
"Well luckily," Mina said, giggling. "There isn't."
The janitor turned to face Mina, an angry glare in his bespectacled eyes. "You do not think I am husband material, yah?"
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
He yanked his beard angrily, straightening it on his face. He resembled like an angry goat ready to headbutt Mina into oblivion. "I should have you know...in my country, I am considered a hot commodity. All the village girls scream when they see me in speedo!"
"I'd scream too," Mina said, shaking her head. "For the police."
The janitor nodded. "You know police lady? Can you introduce me? I love big strong woman who put me in my place."
Mina turned to Raven, leaning close to whisper in his ear. "This guy is getting more questionable by the moment."
"His taste in women is definitely questionable," Raven nodded. "But then again, I dated the chief too and I'm still in therapy for it."
Mina turned to face the man. "Enough about your mom-amatrix complex, Mr. Janitor, can you tell us your name?"
The man looked behind his trash can as if he was being watched. "Er...the name is Svedish Sven and I am from Sveden yah! And who are you, beautiful girlie?"
Mina silently reached into her pocket and presented her attorney's badge. "We represent Monty Banks...the mayor of Business Park. Were you at the Goode Gala two nights ago?"
"Er...yves," Svedish Sven nodded. "Perhaps I was. Yes...I think they had me on garbage duty. I got to see all of the pretty starlets, yah!"
"We would like to know more about what you saw," Mina said. "There was a catastrophic murder there last night. Where Greta Goode was killed in a tragic assassination..."
Svedish Sven's mustache bristled angrily. "And vat does dis hafta do with me?"
"We just want to know if you've seen anything suspicious," Mina said. "Because we have a reason to believe that the mayor was framed."
"And vy is that?" Sven demanded.
"Because," Mina said. "The mayor didn't even know he had a bomb in his armory, but his butler did! A butler who I'd really like to question but he seems to have skipped town."
There was a momentary flinch from Svedish Sven. He hissed in his swedish yokel dialect. "I wouldn't advise sticking your pretty little nose where it doesn't belong, yah."
Mina raised her eyebrows. "Oh really...Giles D. Butler?"
Svedish Sven recoiled in horror before pulling his goatee so hard it fell off his face. Immediately, Mina recognized the elderly jowls of Giles from Monty's mansion.
Mina straight at him like she was accusing him of the very murder itself. "It seems this janitor didn't mop up his tracks as good as he thought. I don't know what you have to do with this case, but I have a good feeling that the Aura is involved!"
Giles D. Butler chortled. "And now it is time for me to take out the trash! Starting with you, madame!"
Without warning, Giles threw the rolling garbage can straight at Mina, she squealed loudly as her body flipped headfirst into the trash can.
In the darkness of the trash can, Mina couldn't see Giles, but Raven screamed, "Come back here, you fake stereotypical Swede!"
She knew she had to catch him or this case would slip right through her fingernails!
