Chapter 90: A New Aura Reader is Born

"...You...created the Aura?!" Mina gasped.

There was remorse behind Madame Butterfly's mask, but it immediately led her to snap back in anger. "Nobody's perfect, princess! I thought I was doing right by finding those with red malice in their aura...and eventually, they caught on!"

"Wow..." Mina said softly. "I cannot believe this. All the wicked criminals who I helped put away. They all had this in common."

Madame Butterfly made a gasp that sounded half like a congested choke from a burrito and half like a sudden realization.

"You are putting these criminals away..." Madame Butterfly said, her eyes shining behind her mask. "Are you some kind of beacon of justice?"

Mina turned bright red and put her hand behind her head. "Hehe...more like an underpaid defense attorney. But yes, I have put a few members of the Aura behind bars!"

Madame Butterfly seized Mina's arm and began to shake it frantically like it was a large limp noodle. "Thank you. Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!"

Mina pulled her arm away afraid the crazed witch was gonna rip it off. "Sorry," Madame Butterfly said, taking a deep breath. "I am just so glad there is a little lovely who can finish what I started. I may have began the Aura...but you can finish them! And then I can finally eat Italian food in public again and not wear this mask!"

"O-M-G!" Mina gasped. "You can't even eat tortellini in public? I'm so sorry. You betcha I can fix this! I've already imprisoned Ms. Taurus, Mr. Cancer and Mr. Virgo!"

Madame Butterfly pumped her thick arms excitedly. "You go, girl! There are several other signs, but you've gotten a few of the most vile ones. Especially Charlotte O'Scara. She's killed several politicians through wedlock and black windowing!"

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Madame Butterfly began to prance around, lifting her large legs out of her gown. Twirling around Mina excitedly. "Today is a tremendous day! I am glad my butterfly pendant is in the hands of a new Aura reader! Now do me this favor."

She stopped and grabbed Mina's palm again.

"Next case you are working on. Try to read a suspicious person's Aura."

Mina's eyes widened. "But how exactly do I do that? I kinda happened on my last Aura by accident."

Madame Butterfly raised her hands in a W shape to her mind. "Probe their mind. Imagine you are a butterfly and flit to their mind like a flower and drink their essence like sweet nectar!"

"Er..." Mina muttered. "Less metaphors please."

"Sorry," the Madame answered. "Just trying to live up to my character persona! What you need to do is ask them questions that expose their true intent. For that's what their aura is. Once it's exposed, you will see it!"

Mina nodded. When she probed Ariel Headly's twisted alibi properly and set her off into a furious meltdown, the girl's body was enveloped in that glowing red haze. A smile came over the young attorney's face. Now she knew how to up her legal game: by being a true blue mystic!

Before Mina could thank Frida for imparting her knowledge and powers, a familiar chiptune rang out over her E-Phone. Playing the ubiquitous Ninja Kitty theme, she knew it was important. Checking the caller ID, it was the chief of police.

"Y'ellow?" Mina asked

"Is this Mina?" the proud police chief asked in her deep husky voice. "I have no time for primary colors as your client is the primary suspect in this case! We have just arrested Mr. Robot and he demanded that you speak with him over the newfound evidence that was given to us."

"Oh snap..." Mina muttered. "That isn't good at all. I'll be right over."

She said her goodbyes to the chief and hung up. Mina turned to Madame Butterfly. "Thank you for everything. Next time I see a palm reading spinster, I'll not be so quick to judge!"

Madame Butterfly grinned and fluffed up her bushy brown hair. "Do not judge one by their appearance, but their intent dearie. Their aura says a lot more about them than their face does!"

Mina nodded. "Yes it does. And maybe next time I'll buy you a stromboli to make up for it!"

Mina bid her newfound mystic friend goodbye, and headed straight towards the police station. She knew immediately she had some mind probing to do.
