Chapter 147: An Electrifying Twist of Fate

Chapter 147: An Electrifying Twist of Fate

The not-so-sexy Himbolake stood panting, his bald head shining in the overhead lighting. "All I have to do is text the word 'Now' and she will die!"

He hissed and chuckled in his ratty laugh. Himbolake reached behind him for his back pocket and his smug face changed to one of panic. "Wait ..where's my..."

Seeing Mina inching her way towards his E-Phone on the floor made him scream, "Don't you dare touch that, slick, or I'll wring your neck!"

"Told you!" Judge Mentle hollered. "There is no chivalry in pop music!"

But Mina didn't recoil in fear, she continued to move towards the phone. She would not let Divine die if she had any say in it. Himbolake roared like an unhinged monster in human flesh and started barrelling towards her. Mina squeaked in fear, but moved as fast as she could in heels. If it meant getting body slammed by a rabid pop star just to save Blind's grandma. She would. She loved him more than anyone else in the world.

Before either could reach the phone, a third person joined the fray. Sparky beat his bony chest. "Beating up a lady?! What kind of man are you, Himbolake?!"

He too started charging, a metal truncheon in his hand. The dark metal stick was the most imposing thing about him as his frame was skinnier than Mina even.

With three people running at each other at the same time, Mina had to ensure that nobody would touch the phone. She flung herself forward, taking a dive like a desperate baseball player reaching home plate. She slid along the polished floor, and seized the phone in her hand, just as Sparky reached her.

"Whooaaaa no!" He screamed, tripping over her. "Spaghetti-NOOOO'S!"

He crashed into Himbolake and together they fell to the floor with a thud.

Mina couldn't believe it. Sparky had saved her life. She looked at the phone now safe in her hands and burst into tears. "Thank Dog and God!" she sobbed as she lay on the floor.

The audience in the court room, the prosecutor, barrister, and judge were all speechless over what had inspired. Himbolake had all but admitted his guilt through his anger at Mina and now he attempted to beat his own defense attorney to death.

Before anyone could comment, an outside voice observed. "What a good boy you are, Sparky."

The voice was womanly and deep, everyone looked up to see the chief standing in the doorway flanked by several Business Park Cops. "Seems you've finally found your purpose as a human projectile."

Sparky looked up with two black eyes. "Chief!" he smiled, missing a tooth. "Do I get a promotion?!"

The strong faced lady cop smirked. "Let's not get carried away! You're still a rookie deputy!"

"Oh boy!" Sparky gushed. "At least she's talking down to me."

Chief O'Law side eyed her fellow officers. "See that pop star on the floor? He's all washed up. Time to book em boys!"

The cops rushed into the room, and handcuffed the barely conscious Himbolake. Once he felt the cold steel of the cuffs, he woke from his stupor. Immediately, he snarled at Mina. "So what if I'm a murderer! You willingly helped a murderer, slick. And that's exactly what SHE wanted! People don't cross HER if they know what's good for them!"

"She?!" Mina murmured. "Her? Stop with these cryptic pronouns and just tell me who you're talking about."

The bald Himbolake continued to chuckle. "She just wanted me to make sure you never work in law again! And even if I've been caught, she's rich enough that she'll let me off. I just know it!"

Dustin howled with laughter as Mina was silent. She indeed had crusaded for her client's innocence, knowing full well he was guilty. Now it seemed, that a member of N'Snare has ensnared her in a plot to ruin her reputation for good. Who could have done that?

Suddenly, a single word formed on her lips. "Electra."

Himbolake continued to cackle, knowing that Maxine was rich enough to get a murderous scumbag acquitted. Her body just hung limp as Dustin Himbolake was led away in cuffs. Even seeing his fangirl's tear up their signs and turn their heads away from his premature baldness did nothing to him. Mina may have won the battle, but she had lost the war against a deranged billionaire.
