Chapter 128: Waking on the Side of Justice

Mina awoke on the side of Justice. Blind Justice that is. Her head was nestled up against the toned chocolate pecs of her William and she couldn't have felt more at home in his penthouse apartment.

He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and she sighed mischievously. "For a blind man, you sure no where to reach!"

Blind chuckled. "I wasn't always blind you know. I remember somethings where it counts."

Mina blushed, giggled and then snorted loudly. She immediately covered up her nostrils. Blind just smirked. "As smooth as always, rookie. Though I guess I can't call you that anymore."

"Nooooope," Mina sang and then buried herself beneath the covers.

It was the best way to start the day and things could only get better or much worse. Unfortunately, they went south quickly. Blind's E-Phone rang on the side of the bed and he immediately grabbed it. The phone wasn't on speaker, but Mina could still recognize the boisterous voice of the chief already.

"Hope you're not doing anything important..." the chief remarked. "Or anyone. Because Mr. Blind Justice is needed for another investigation. We have a lead on the infamous high art thief, Maria Santiago and where she will strike next."

Blind grimaced. It was clear from the strain on his brow that even he didn't want to leave Mina's side. Mina just snuggled closer to him, greedily grabbing his arm to make sure she couldn't leave.

Blind took a long pause, as if his new occupation would just fade into the ether and they could hide in bed all day. But at last, he said, "I'll be right over."

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

The chief demanded a punctual time of forty five minutes after eight, before hanging up abruptly. Blind just slid back into bed once he was sure the receiver couldn't hear any disparaging remarks. "This was the most fun I've had...in ever..." Blind said, tilting over to his lovelorn girlfriend. "It sucks I now have this detective job."

"Weren't you always punctual as a prosecutor?" Mina asked with curiosity.

"Yes," Blind answered wryly and ran his fingers through her hair. "But that's before my occupation had to contend with you!"

Mina pouted. She didn't want him to go. Blind turned to her, his mechanical visor reflecting her red face back at her. "Let's just get our work done today and we can come back here, eat strawberry pancakes and watch one of those kidult cartoons you love so much."

"Yesh..." Mina sighed. "Add some cuddles and we're about to update my cloud nine to a cloud ten...and a half!"

"Its a deal then," Blind said.

"My my," Mina giggled. "even in bed and relationships you are extremely professional!"

As he got out of bed, his perfect eight pack flexed in the winter sunlight and Mina couldn't do anything but marvel at it with her jaw on the bed. Though her eyes were practically making love symbols like some crazy cartoon she'd watch, his words brought her back to harsh reality.

"Today," Blind said. "You should interrogate Mr. Himbolake and do that little psychic magic thing you always do on him. I'd love to know whether it's him or that secretary who is lying."

Mina nodded. She knew Dustin was a respectable celebrity, always wearing his purity ring in public when he worked for Wizney. His relationship notwithstanding, he always tried to bring the loves of his life up in his songs. She still remembered the sweet paean of his love song Rear View Mirrors and how he used reflective metaphor to say his love was always behind him and much closer than she appeared. Aside from his ugly tabloid breakup with Whitney Stabs, he was a total sweetheart-throb to any woman he was with.

Mina too stood up to welcome the day. Today, she would get the hard stuff over with and then spend another night nuzzled by the side of Justice.
