Chapter 124: Ver-Sigh!

As Blind and Mina took the taxi home, Mina was troubled by the recent development. According to Ms. Cilan (who was admittedly not too trust worthy herself) Dustin had set her up and she was taking the fall for the murder (which as of now was a poisoned box of 'Take My Breath Away' mints).

How would she confront Dustin was a big matter as even if he had some shady dealings in his life, he wouldn't be open to sharing them front and center.

Blind slid his warm hand into hers in the backseat. He smiled warmly (for him.) "You have a big task tomorrow, love," he said. "Admittedly, one I would have really taken to task as a prosecutor!"

"I know..." Mina moaned. "I feel like I'm gonna be prosecuting my own client here! Asking him questions that he might be evasive too!"

"Well," Blind said, sliding towards her as his shiny long hair fell forward. "I can give you some tips on being the most merciless prosecutor there is!"

Mina grinned and leaned forward. "Can you first tell me how I can be the most merciless kisser there is? The only thing I need right now is you to prosecute my lips!"

"Hey hey hey pally!" an irate and gravelly voice growled from the front seat. "There will be no PDA in my taxi! Already got in trouble when a dame and some punk decided to block my rear view window smoochin wit there big heads! Caused a fifteen car pile up!"

Mina turned bright red. Her driver was her long time friend, Denny Vito, a scruffy looking middle aged cab driver who had an unusual but amazing habit of dispensing the best advice.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Mina held up her hands, turning bright pink. "Er...uh...I plead insanity your honor. Love makes you do crazy things!"

D Vito continued his stern prosecution. "And pal, you didn't even tell me the most important thing..."

Mina gulped.

Mina saw D. Vito grinned broadly in the mirror. "You didn't even tell me who dis lucky guy is!"

Mina and Blind both let out a breath of not-so-fresh, cheesy taxi air. "Oh my galoshes," Mina gasped. "I'm sorry, Denny! This is William Justice, grandson of the esteemed Justice Divine Justice!"

"Ah..." Denny chuckled. "Dat kind of Justice! Back when I was still in da lawyering biz, Divine was the best lady at my third wedding!"

"Ahem," Blind remarked. "You were in the Lawyering Business? How come I've never heard of you?"

"Disgraced sadly, pal," Denny remarked. "As dat Aura organization helped create a big lawyer purge back in da day. But I hear dis kiddo here managed to put several of their big name cheeses behind bars!"

"That I did!" Mina sang. "I'm so happy I managed to help rid the world of a few awful people and make it safer for everyone!"

"Dat you did," D. Vito remarked. "Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet your beau! He may not be able to see it, but he's got himself a very beautiful and intellectual girly here."

"Oh trust me," Blind said suavely, making Mina giggle. "I've figured that one out already."

"Well then, D. Vito said. "Here is your stop, buddy!"

The taxi pulled up to an enormous 30 story skyscraper with its name, 'Versailles' glowing in bright red lettering above the five revolving door entrance. An endless towering array of golden lights lit up the February sky like a Christmas tree two months after it should have been put away. Mina was floored by its grandiosity. The building truly looked like it could etch its name into the sky.

"Shut those five revolving doors," she exclaimed. "This building is amazing. I knew you lived in a penthouse Willy, but Versailles makes me Ver-Sigh in wonder!"

Judging by your words, Blind remarked coyly. "This is my stop."

"Yes it is," Mina sighed in amazement, wiping the drool from her chin.

"But it's not just my stop," Blind said, with a wiggle of his eyebrows. "Its your stop too!"
