"You're doing what now?" Star said, dumbfounded.
But Mina didn't answer her, she just held her index and thumb in circles and raised them while loudly chanting, "oMMMM!"
"Excuse moi," Artie said, turning to Raven. "What is your little protege doing?"
"Well what does it look like!" Raven responded. "She's a psychic chick!"
"More like a psycho chick!" Star muttered rolling her eyes. "You really think I believe in that mumbo jumbo! It's totally unreal!"
"You should," Raven laughed. "She's not the one who plays a cosmic space alien on TV!"
Star crossed her arms. "Go ahead. Try me. I'm not hiding anything. Dirk and I were good friends. We never had any reason to fight."
Mina continued to 'ommm' adding up what she knew in her head until she felt like a pot ready to boil. She opened her brown eyes and exclaimed. "I have a connection!"
"A connection to what?!" Star and Artie exclaimed.
Mina giggled and tapped her necklace. "A connection to my inner divine. And my inner divine says one thing about you and Dirk."
Star looked skyward and bite her lip. "Yeah?"
"You said," Mina replied. "You were the best of friends, but no hetero..."
"So...?" Star said. "I'm quite clear about which way I orbit!"
"But..." Mina smirked. "Why is there constantly articles about you two in the Juicy Tabloids?"
Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings.
"How should I know?" Star responded. "You think I read those girly tabloids?"
"Nope," Mina said, her grin wide and shiny. "But Dirk has spoken to them. And you would not believe what he says. Or maybe you can!"
Mina was greeted with silence so she continued her spiel. "Dirk Lord has bragged about being extremely close to the nation's most eligible female bachelor. And that's you."
Both Artie and Star's eyes dilated. Star, in particular, looked like she wanted to punch right through the glass.
"Any thoughts on that?" Mina asked. "Did he ever give you any unwanted advances?"
Star, who turned redder than the sands of Mars blasted steam out her nostrils. "I wished so badly he would stop saying that crap. Dirk's an old guy, I'm in my prime. He likes women, and so do I. We'd totally be cool if he'd stop spewing that crud in the tabloids!"
"And..." Mina said, a burst of adrenaline running through her veins. "You hated it so much, this creepy old Star Voyager hitting on you, that you shot him on the set.. didn't you?!"
The flushed red Star turned paler than the ice caps of Pluto. "What?! No! Dirk was annoying and gross but aside from his stupid interviews and the fact he approached me one day...he didn't mean much at all..."
"Care to tell me more about that?" Mina asked.
Star looked at Artie. "Artie. Tell her she needs to talk to my attorney."
"But Star, baby!" Artie said, removing his beret to brush his sweaty hair. "she is your attorney!"
"Oh right! Double duh," Star said, rolling her eyes. "Look, Mina. It's clear you're bright. I don't believe you're psychic, just a well read fan."
Mina gave a sheepish grin. "Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not."
"But listen," Star responded. "Do you believe I'm guilty? If I say any of this space junk in front of a judge, it'll make me look really guilty. But I'm not."
Mina closed her eyes again. The number one rule of law flashed in her mind.
"Star E. Skye. You are innocent until proven guilty."
Star clasped her muscular chest and sighed. "Thank you...You don't know how much that means to me. I was just as shocked as everyone else when a bullet came out of that gun. I thought they checked those props before using them on set."
"Or at least," Mina winked. "They'd want to. Unless someone was setting you up."
"Precisely!" Star shouted over the phone calling Mina to wince.
"But who could want to do that?" Artie said.
Mina raised a finger, a bold grin on her face. "Give me a list of everyone who was in the studio that day."
"Uh sure..." Artie said, straightening his beret. "Why would you need that, baby?"
"Because..." Mina said and she thrust an index finger in his face. "Tomorrow. Raven and I are going down to the studio for some super duper sleuthing!"
