Mina's heart danced excitedly. She never thought in a million years she'd receive a phone call from her favorite pop star. But it seemed her name as a lawyer was truly up in lights now. She clicked her E-Phone on and answered as calmly as an overzealous fangirl could.
"Ohmygosh, hi, Dustin. I'm fan...your biggest Mina, I mean, I'm Mina your biggest fan! How can I defend you today?!"
Much to her shock, the answer was cold and clinical. It belonged to a woman too.
"Ms. Hawkins? Are you a lawyer or did I just happen to call the mental clinic by mistake."
Mina's excited gushing immediately dried up and she answered timidly. "Who is this?"
"Penny Cilan, head manager of Himbolake. And his spokesperson."
Mina nervously asked a question that was dogging her. "Why can't Dustin speak for himself?"
"Because," Ms. Cilan answered. "He's a walking PR scandal. And clearly, you're not the lawyer to help absolve that."
Mina grimaced. "Hold my E-Phone. Why am I not?"
The icy Cilan responded with another icepick of an answer. "Drooling fangirls and celebrity manbabies never make good combinations. Unless we're talking about tabloids. I have no idea why my management suggested you!"
"Please!" Mina begged. "I have an amazing track record in court. Every case has been a victory for me. And not only that, I'm really wholesome too. After all, for me, it's not just about clearing my clients name, but it's the friends I made along the way that makes all the difference!"
"Actually," Penny Cilan answered caustically. "You sound perfect. Both of you are complete numbskulls and I'm sure this case will go over like a lead balloon. But whatever, that's not what I'm paid for."

Mina turned bright red as she clutched the phone. Her skin was boiling with rage. "I'll show you! Himbolake will have a clean record by the time I'm done with him! And you'll be eating your pointy words with a fork and spoon!"
Penny Cilan merely chuckled. "We'll see about that. I will pencil you in for tomorrow afternoon. We will meet at the police station and discuss how you will defend my client in my court."
"I hope I can talk to him too," Mina snarled. "Instead of a mana-jerk like you!"
"Oh you will," Penny responded. "And perhaps when you see his denseness, you'll realize how in over your head you are!"
There was a brief pause before Cilan continued her frigid response.
"But...that doesn't matter to me. Currently I have an 11:30 PM appointment with beauty rest and I will need to be well rested for tomorrow's eye-rolling that will no doubt happen. Don't be late tomorrow. Ciao."
The phone receiver clicked off and Mina was left steaming mad. She couldn't believe the audacity of that woman. "What a miserable manager!" Mina growled at her boyfriend "How can she feel like she's above both her client and his soon-to-be lawyer! I'd ask to speak to her manager...but she IS the manager!"
Blind leaned back in his chair, as stoic as always. "Sometimes managing a celebrity can be a tough and thankless job. After all, she's the one planning everything and he just has to show up and be Dustin Himbolake."
"You're right!" Mina smirked evilly. "I'd read her...but it seems karma already has. Dustin's name is in spotlights while she's in the shadows!"
Mina laughed manically. She didn't mind being a bit catty to someone who was mean to her. Blind waited politely until she was done sipping on her hater-ade. "I have to say," he said casually. "I think it's a bit late to go back to my penthouse. So I was wondering..."
Even if his eyes were blindfolded, Mina watched as a confident smile came across his handsome face. "Would you allow me to sleep over!"
Mina gasped. It was the first time Blind would ever spend the night over at her house...well, Lawyering Co. but the principle was the same. For once, she was thankful Raven wasn't here. He may have been a great mentor, but he also knew how to interrupt a romantic occasion better than anyone. Usually it involved mentioning pickles.
But since he was not here, Mina merely pounced on her boyfriend and exclaimed, "Would I ever!" --her eyes slyly turned away as her stuffy boyfriend tried to unmuffled himself from the glomping. "Maybe we can even sleep over each other!"
"Mmph!" Blind exclaimed. "Not if you're gonna crush me like this!"
