Mina squinted her eyes to see a tiny initial at the bottom of the page. It was merely two vowels. "I.E." A truly mysterious initial.
She pursed her lips to reflect on the election. It was the most dour rainy night and even if her client, Monty Banks was cleared of all wrongdoings against his deceased opponent, Greta Goode, he lost. His reputation had been savaged by both his corrupt wrongdoings in the past and the stigma of the brutal legal case.
Did the Greta Goode campaign win? No, they had withdrawn in respect for Greta. It was a third party candidate who had won. Mina hadn't even thought twice about the winner. It was a third party candidate that people had clearly pushed because anyone would be better than suffering under the crooked Banks regime again. His name was Ivor Ebony and she didn't even watch his victory speech or anything. She didn't even know what the man looked like.
But Mina gasped. Why did Mr. Ebony invite her to his Inauguration Party? What had she done to receive such an honor? She didn't even think of the third parties...(except for the famous rapper from Business Park, High C, who was hoping his celebrity would get him to the top of the ballot)
Before she could even mull over the question, her E-Phone buzzed and rattled on her bed (She had it on vibrate for she couldn't stand the Ninja Kitty theme song...it just reminded her of Raven).

When she picked it up, a deep, but distinctly feminine voice answered. "Hullo Mina!"
"Trudy?" Mina asked. "How goes it?"
"Its amazing!" her friend exclaimed in her baritone voice. "I just got invited to a penthouse party from the new mayor himself? I don't even know him!"
"Er...ummm..." Mina stammered. Now this was truly odd. Trudy, her innocuous Yowler friend was invited too. Before Mina could answer, Trudy gushed over the phone.
"I'm thinking he saw my foxy profile on Pinedr. I was posing in my tankini and that no doubt attracted this handsome silver fox!"
"Ummm..." Mina said, biting her lip. "I hate to break it to ya, but I received an invite too."
"You too??" Trudy gasped. "Well to be fair, Winona and Chet got them too! But I just figured he was a real swinging single type!"
"I'm sorry, Trude," Mina frowned. "I think we're all invited for some bizare reason."
Trudy sighed too. "Well, at least I can sample the little shrimp on a platter and write a scandalous review on Yowl so I can blackmail him into a date!"
"Trudy..." Mina said sternly. "I may be the defense attorney who defended Monty Banks, but even I can't defend someone who just confessed their crime. Behave yourself and we can go out for late night pizza afterwards."
"Right," Trudy answered. "You got it, Mina! Still I'm gonna dress to impress! In my little XL black dress! Toodles!"
Trudy hung up, leaving Mina alone with her worries. If anything, Trudy would be a distraction with her wiles and the young attorney could get the scoop on what was going on. What did the new mayor want with her and her friends? She eyed her wardrobe with a determined squint. She didn't know what, but if she suited up nicely, she might get some answers this holiday season.
Besides, HE might be there and even though he was blind, she'd still wear her silkiest dress just for him.
