"Sod's Law!" Raven muttered with his arms crossed. "Not sure why those silly sods have laws but...Sod's Law!"

Recess has ended and everyone was called to the courtroom for the final verdict. Blind could not see Raven but he heard his loud squawking and pacing clearer than day.

"What did that kid eat?!" he pointed a finger at Blind's toned chest. "And more importantly, what have you been feeding her that she'd take so long in the old Johnny!"

Blind shook his head, rustling his long, flowey hair. "I heard you used to just buy her Burger Princess every day, old man. If she has diet problems, it's your fault."

"Watch your mouth," Raven squawked. "I just turned thirty. One day, you'll be that old, kid. Now where in the world is she?!"

The jury had gathered, as did the judge. Maxine Electra, the normally boisterous billionaire was quieter than a cemetery on the eve of midnight. She was truly cornered and there was no where for her to run. Blind found himself amused at her silence. She was normally the biggest mouth. Now she awaited her fate like a common criminal.

"Hmm," Raven said, scratching his handsome goatee. "That weird Skinny Man attorney isn't here either..."

Blind's head perked up. "No?"

"Go figure..." Raven said, casually stretching his legs. "The prosecutor and the defense attorney aren't here..."

Suddenly, Blind stood up. "Crap," he muttered, his breath charging the air. "I think I know where he is."

"Yeah," Raven nodded. "Even us defense attorneys have bladders. But hearts is debatable. Depends on the person."

As happy he was that the wonky mayor had reverted back to the wonky birdbrain, he still had no time for his nonsensical levity and nonchalance.

His girlfriend was in danger from predatory monster and he would not sit idle, even to hear Maxine finally face justice.

He reached for his detective's handgun around his waist. He obviously wasn't the best shot at it. But his visor allowed him to sense body heat. He'd possibly fake his way through this until she was safe.

Sev continued to grapple Mina in a chokehold. After having to listen to an entire bile of awful confessions he had no remorse for committing, she couldn't contain her own caustic side. Even as he held her in a near strangle, she growled and gritted her teeth, she managed some barbs. "Clearly...Sev...you've never held a woman before judging by how you hold me..."

Sev pulled his elbow harder towards her neck. She dry heaved in pain. "Don't test me, you wretched harpie. There's only one thing keeping you on this planet. I just need the okay from the Madame and you will be singing with the angels. Not that I believe in them."

Mina side-eyed Sev even if she couldn't answer him. There were many things keeping her on this planet. Her love of her family, friends, Blind, Raven and most of all, sweet and honorable justice herself.

She would get through this.

Even if meant praying to both Dog and God at the same time.

Sev chuckled. "I've registered Electra's ring tone to the sound bite of a scream from the Halloween movie, Howl 9. As soon as I hear it, you are going to experience my most brutal murder ever. It'll make you wish you got what Ashley got. Even if I shot her in the legs, I'd never kill her. You on the other hand... Are worth less than seven."

Mina shivered as she remained in his clammy gasp. This man had no shame of being compared to a masked serial killer from a horror movie. He was truly reprehensible. Maybe not even worthy of facing justice like some of these other criminals. He didn't deserve to exist and even as a defense attorney, she wished he would disappear from her life.

There was a knock at the bathroom door, causing Sev to jerk his body forward.

"Mina...? Mina? Are you okay in there?"

Mina's cheeks turned bright red and it wasn't from being muffled. It was her William and he had come for her. Sev reached towards his belt and removed a handgun.

She wanted to warn Blind, but his hand held her face back.

The door creaked open and Mina sunk her teeth into Sev's greasy fingers. "No wait!" she screamed.

Two shots rang out from the woman's restroom.
